The Finals - Custom Playbooks vs Correct Option Blocking

Custom Playbooks
Many NCAA Football gamers spend days (if not weeks) trying to find the perfect playbook – one with the right mix of plays and formations they feel comfortable with. However, many end up disappointed – only finding a playbook that contains a portion of what they want. With Custom Playbooks (a feature in last-gen NCAA Football), users could pick a set number of formations and plays to use in a custom playbook linked to their profile.

Correct Option Blocking
Currently, the blocking for the option game is not correct. In real life, the defensive end is left unblocked forcing the QB to make a “read” and determine when/whether to pitch the ball or keep it himself. This is an item that the developers have worked on in the past, but said with it in correctly it left holes in other areas of the defense. With the feature already having some work done on it, we may be halfway there.

Hard choice between my top two of the tourny. Went with custom playbooks though. I hate never getting all the formations and plays I need to execute the perfect offensive or defensive strategy. Hopefully we'll get both (though I doubt we will ever see correct option blocking in the game...)

I don't want to be too negative, but I wonder if this is the best choice:

Custom Playbooks - An important feature that is in last gen and will probably be brought to next gen at some point anyway, with or without our input.

Correct Option Blocking - Basically amounts to a complaint over core game play. Trust me I have plenty of those, but I just wonder if after all of this if it's worth just presenting EA with another complaint? Knowing them they'll state that the blocking works just fine (of course while citing their continuous commitment to improvement, innovation etc.)

I guess I'll just vote for the blocking improvements anyway.

Voted for Custom playbooks but would much rather prefer:

-Losing connection to users in online dynasty matchups-

It's getting out of control...

I voted for Correct Option Blocking. While I think blocking as a whole needs work, I would want my vote to go towards getting the gameplay right and Option Blocking helps take a step towards it. I would also hope they fix Option Defense as well.

Overall, I have been vehemently opposed to playbooks simply because I don't feel they fix any issue with the game and will only introduce new issues.

I've gone with correct option all tourney, but I just don't think I can pass up Custom Playbooks. If CAPlay was in though then I'd go with Option blocking.

It's gotta be custom playbooks, but correct option blocking needs to be in as well.

Basically, it helps for the realism of dynasties. If you're a new coach taking over a program, you're going to use your own playbook, not the old coach's.

Of these two, I guess I'll go with correct option blocking just because pretty much any actual gameplay improvement gets my vote, but with that, I have to ask a question of all who voted it to the finals...

Why is correct blocking on option plays so important a fix when -- already -- option plays are too productive because the pitch is so broken? When you can pitch the ball backwards, through a tackler, while in his grasp, with the QB already headed to the ground, with perfect accuracy, is correct option blocking really the game's greatest need?

I'm very afraid correct blocking, without fixing the pitch first, would make option plays completely unstoppable.

I'd agree here I think the option game overall has way too much of an arcade like quality too it. For instance right now I'm watching the Miami GT game and GT is rarely going for any type of pitch play, because of the inherent risk involved.

It's way too easy to complete in this game, really my vote for option blocking is a hope they will really improve line interaction overall. I generally use the option only sparingly out of a more pro style offense.

this

im gonna vote for correct blocking because it would make the game so much more fun............

but they also need to add new plays, AND custom playbooks by formation...

with the correct linesplits for spread teams, and formation subs!

gosh its hard to believe that these things are not yet in the game and its going to be 2010!

collectively, we voted to have this matchup. i don't understand what everyone is complaining about. there were 62 things we thought were less important than these two things. given the format, i couldn't think of a way to do it that was more fair than this.

i personally voted against these things most of the way but here they are. obviously, other people thought they were more important. who am i to say? given the matchup at hand, i voted for what i thought was better, which is what i've done this entire tourney.

i am surprised that formation subs didn't make it here. that was the clear favorite in my head.

Ths is the biggest shocker of the tournament and franly after the disgust and outrage at OP over this issue I am flabbergasted that formation subs did NOT run away with this tourney!!! You can't have an authentic football experience without things like formation subs.

Now that being said I guess for this one I will vote for custom playbooks because they would add a lot more to the game for me, and all the more customization is a great thing for this series.

Yes but the match-ups along the way were screwy at times...
Some really important items knocked other really important items out too early...that is the issue.

I bet if you put all the items on a list and had every rank them 1 to 64 or whatever, there would be a different final 8, and final 4 as a result.

That's how the NCAA tournament works. All 4 #1's don't make to the final four everytime and sometimes one of the National Semifinal games is "bigger" then the finals. All you can do is vote for what's offered and move on.
