NCAAStrategies.com is proud to announce the first, hopefully annual, "Nail the Score" contest, where Utopians can play NCAA 09 in conjunction with the real-life 2008 college football season and win a very nice grand prize.
Here's how it works. Each week, we'll have a couple of games out of the real life college football games for contestants to play. Quite simply, the closer your game resembles the real outcome, the more points you score for the week. At the end of the season, the player with the highest point total wins.
The major rules for the contest are as follows:
1) Obviously, you must have played your game before the real game takes place. As of now, we're going to say have your results posted before kickoff. That means, once the games are posted, you could begin right away.
2) You may only post ONE result per game.
3) We highly recommend an EA Sports World persona and a pic from each game. We understand this may be a hardship for some, and may exclude a few people, but we are taking as many measures as possible to make sure folks don't post results of games they never even played. For help on getting your EASW profile up and running, go to http://www.easportsworld.com/en_US/faqs . Barring the ability to use EASW for pics and such, as will be the case for PS2, PSP, and Wii users, we'll have to come to an arrangement, that may be as simple as digi-camming a screen from your game.
Scoring will be as follows.
1) A spot-on score get 10 points for that week.
2) A correct margin of victory for the game winner gets 5 points, and a point less for each point they are off. That would mean if Oklahoma beats Texas 21-10, scoing for margin of victory would go like this:
11 point MOV - 5 points
10 or 12 point MOV - 4 points
9 or 13 point MOV - 3 points
8 or 14 point MOV - 2 points
7 or 15 point MOV - 1 points
3) A correct score for either team gets 2 points.
I will tally scoring, via a spreadsheet I have created.
Games will be selected by yours truly, with input from contestants welcome. We'll have big-time matchups, as well as some more obscure games from the smaller conferences.
The contest is open to next-gen and old-gen players alike, including Wii and PSP guys. If you have NCAA 09, you can play.
Game settings are completely up to you. Varsity, AA, Heisman, whatever. Sliders at 0 or 100. This is going to be more luck than skill, I have a feeling.
Players will keep their results in their own thread under this subforum. If you would like to play, simply create your thread here, entitled something to the effect of "WKUsSledgehammers Nail The Score Results". I will gather the results from threads from week to week and try to have standings posted in a timely manner.
Please direct any questions and general discussion to this thread. We will create new threads for discussion as necessary.
Game for the first few weeks to come soon. If you have suggestions, let them be known.
Good luck!
