http://www.ncaastrategies.com/images/news/2010wishlist.jpg Use this thread to list bugs & glitches that exist in the PS3/360 versions of NCAA 09.

Please be as specific as possible when stating these issues. What happened leading up to the issue? What formation/play did you and your foe call? Etc.

Some general playbook clean-up:

Get rid of multiple names for the same formation. Here are the one's I know of:

Ace Trio == Ace Trips TE

I-Form 3WR == I-Form Slot
I-Form Big == I-Form Tight
I-Form Twin TE == I-Form Twin TE Wing
I-Form Twin WR == I-Form Twins

Shotgun 5WR == Shotgun 5-Wide Tiger == 5WR Trips (flipped)
Shotgun Trips HB Wk == Shotgun Trips Open (flipped)

Split Backs Pro == Split Backs Normal

Strong Normal == Strong H Pro
Strong H Twins == Strong Twins

Weak H Pro == Weak Normal
Weak H Twins == Weak Twins == Weak Twin WR

Hail Mary == Shotgun Spread

There are possibly others I have missed.

Ensure that there are not multiple plays with the same name within the same formation.

Two quick examples:

From Iowa's playbook, Ace Slot formation, there are two plays called 'Flanker Dig'.

From Hail Mary formation, there are two plays called 'Hail Mary'. One is from the Shotgun Spread alignment, and the other is from the Shotgun 4WR Trio alignment.

Get rid of the Hail Mary formation altogether. First of all the formation isn't even a formation. It has four plays all from different formation alignments: Shotgun Spread, Shotgun Spread Flex, Shotgun 4WR Trio, and Shotgun 4WR Trey HB Wk (which doesn't even exist in the game).

For all shotgun formations, add a 4 verticals (or equivalent) play and call it 'Hail Mary' if you wish. For teams that don't usually use shotgun, simply add Shotgun Spread to their formation list with either just the Hail Mary play or maybe that play and three additional deep pass concept plays.

You have already done similar for shotgun heavy teams, by putting in a limited 4 play version of Ace Big (see Missouri). Go with that strategy for Hail Mary.

Stop embedding plays other formations within another formation. Let me give some examples:

In Florida's play book, Shotgun Split Slot. The last page of plays for the formation are actually plays from Shotgun Split Y-Flex. Not only is this not the same formation, but it has different personnel.

In South Carolina's playbook, Ace Big formation, the last page of plays are actually the Emory and Henry formation. Just make that a separate formation and maybe flesh it out with a few more plays. But don't embed it in another formation.

In Strong H Pro in several books, there are two HB Blast plays. However, the second play is actually from I Form Normal.

There are NUMEROUS other instances of this sort of thing, and they have been in there for several years. Please stop.

Auto-motion plays should come in groups of 4's. So, for instance, if you have a Jet sweep, you should always have a Jet Sweep PA pass. A Jet 'sweep' NON PA pass (basically, a regular pass play where only the auto-motion part of the jet sweep is being faked for deception purposes. No hand-off, or fake hand-off). And lastly, always have a run counter to the jet sweep where there is no hand-off or fake hand-off to the jet man, but the QB or HB in the back field follows a pulling guard in the direction away from where the jet sweep is run.

Just in general, make sure there are always complimentary PA pass, pass, and run counter plays to any basic run.

Show double coverage consistently in the play art. In the 3-3-5 play art, the man double coverage assignments are clearly marked with red line indicators. This lets you know which defenders are part of the double team. However, in other formations like 4-3, the double coverage is not clearly indicated. This is a small thing, but the markings make it easier to find plays with double coverage when you are quickly flipping through play pages.

This is one thing that really bugs me.....

ok, so i am am defense and i choose man coverage out of any formation.

The offense chooses a defense like I-Form twins of something that has no wideouts on one side of the ball, and multiple on the other. Lets just say they are on the left side.

So, my RCB goes over and is on the Left side and I am left with no corner on the right side of the ball. All you have to do offensively is run a toss or an option to where i have no corners and you will have a great play.

This is junk, you will never see a college team do this, it is just plain dumb!

I had one VERY annoying bug in a close game. CPU was going for a very long field goal in a short yardage situation, so I played it safe and did a man FG defence. CPU kicked it off, hit the vertical bar, my saftey caught the ball and the play was blown dead. Then the screwy thing happened. The CPU got the ball 1st and 10 on their 20 yard line... WHAT? They kicked a field goal, missed it and then got the ball back?!?!

Running list of playbook errata:

Incorrectly named plays (describe wrong type of coverage):

4-3, 3-4, 4-2-5, Multiple D playbooks, Nickel 3-3-5 formation, '3 Man Under'. This is a zone blitz. The 3-3-5 Playbook has the same play named '3 Overload Fire', which is more appropriate.

Redundant play names (multiple plays with the same exact name within the same formation):

Iowa's playbook, Ace Slot formation, there are two plays called 'Flanker Dig'.

Hail Mary formation, there are two plays called 'Hail Mary'. One is from the Shotgun Spread alignment, and the other is from the Shotgun 4WR Trio alignment.

Plays that are the same but have a slight name variance:

3-3-5 playbook, Nickel 3-3-5 formation, "Monster Blitz 2" is called "Monster Blitz" in all other playbooks with the same formation.

Broken plays (plays that aren't what we thought they were):

3-3-5 Across & 3-3-5 Bear, Spy 2 Blitz has the SS's flat zones assigned across the field, instead of on their side of the field as the play art indicates. This means the SS's have to move ALL the way across the field to get to their zone, and essentially become useless.

3-3-5 Across Crash 2. Has the same problem as the above play.

Plays that aren't as drawn, but still functional:

Notre Dame playbook, Ace Twin TE, Power O and PA Power O are both drawn with the wing TE motioning in towards the center, then back out. However, the play actually executes as follows: instead of coming out in Ace Twin TE alignment, it comes out in Ace Big Wing, and the motion TE is the wing on the left instead of being on the right as he would be in Ace Twin TE. He then motions across the formation to the play side. Functional, but executes completely wrong.

Playing the cpu last night, my bro was defending 4th and goal in the 3rd quarter from the 1. cpu handed off in what looked like Power '0' against a jam middle (both goal line formations) to the right. CPU RB got to the 2 and was in surrounded by about 6 guys (3 blockers, 3 D-Linemen). He quickly left the ball in the air and slid back to the 10 yd line and the ball followed into his hands. (I could only see that in instant replay, in fast motion he just disappeared from where he was and reappeared promptly at the 10) He then continued as if he had just been handed the ball. hmmm. Got tackled like normal at the 3 yd line, but would have pissed my bro off if he had taken the open edge and scored!!! We couldn't believe it.

No one else glitched (although the d-lineman about to make the tackle quickly looked to his right to find someone who wasn't there, and then apparently saw the back and continued to make a play)

Playing dynasty against CPU. Wanted to change the week of a recruits visit to a week later in the season. After selecting this option, the home game I was going to change to was not shown on the schedule. In its place was an away game against a team not on my schedule. Its happened several times.

You're not confusing this with the "visiting (insert college here)" message that tells you the recruit is already visiting another college that week are you?

Here’s a glitch that I found: I was playing AT the University of Oklahoma’s home field. There’s a stadium camera that pans from right to left across the field. Off in the distance, there’s a video screen with the OU logo REVERSED. So, instead of saying “OU”, it says “UO”.

When playing PvP games on the 360, very often after a score I do not receive the kickoff selection menu ... this happens to me and to my opponents fairly often. The game appears to only not display the menu b/c when I hit the A button it chooses the standard kickoff.

The opponent doesn't get to see the kick return selection when this happens too for whatever reason.

more wildcat plays and have the RB or WR able to play the qb in the formation like Ole Miss McCluster with Snead out wide...

Yeah I have a huge glitch to report. This was a first for me, and leave it to a dumb nubcake in a ranked game to show me.

I was Penn State, and he was Clemson. We were going at it and it came down to his last minute drive.

The score was 17 17 and I knew my only chance was to hold him to a field goal and hope to get one myself. Check it out:

I used my first timeout early in the half for a reson I forget.

The time is 1:30 left in the 4th quarter. He is on my 20 yard line. He runs gets a yard and I call my second timeout. The time is 1:23. He runs gets -1 yard and I call my last timeout. The time is 1:16. On third down he runs and gets 6 yards, and the clock begins to drain.

So with around 1:05 left I know he will run it down to 40 seconds left and kick the game winning field goal. No problem. I got this...

But wait :o

He lets the play clock go all the way to 00. Delay of game???? [rock]

Okay whatever it just makes it that harder for him to make the FG so I accept.

Problem is that when the play reset, the game clock started where it left off with a brand new play clock!!! [wow]

So basically he repeated this until the clock hit 0:04 seconds, and called a timeout. [evil]

Giving me no chance to tie or win. Now if you all are saying "oh well that was smart, he was being strategic" :(

One problem:

It's a glitch!!!

You CANNOT do that in real football. When you get a delay of game, the clock stops! So he glitched for the W.

Anyway, this definately needs to be fixed. It is a flaw, and needs fixing right away.

i was in a triple overtime game with illinois vs. tulsa, and i super sim defense cause i dont like to play it.....so her i am super simming pushing a repeatedly to see when i got the ball... i dont like to sim till the next possesion just cause....anyways its 63 to 63 at reg...so the cpu scores a field goal then i do, and then a touch down, and then i scored a touchdown.....here's where the weird stuff happened....he gets a field goal, so i exit the super sim and on the scoreboard he scored a touchdown on top of the field goal.....so that means i lose right??? well it technically does since i cant score ten points...but instead of me winnning like i would have if he would have just made the field goal, it let me play out my last drve, so i score a touchdown, and lee corso is all congratulating my team and how they won and stuff, and then it says i got a loss..i was sooo pissed..i played it again and destroyed Tulsa....[evil]
