From GLB:
1. What are the minimum and maximum amt of players I’m allowed to have on a team?
-----a. The minimum will be 40, they have not set a maximum. The penalties for not meeting the minimum have not really been spelled out, I'm assuming that they'll do something similar to what they did before for minimum players http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=15210 But this has not been confirmed.
2. Is there a benefit to playing a lower level human player over a higher level CPU player?
-----a. In the beginning there’s not much benefit, but as your human player levels up, he will assign skill points much more intelligently and be able to fit into the mold of your team better. Plus this game is built on human interaction, so if you have a team full of CPU’s you’ve missed out on a large part of the game.
3. How do I offer a player from free agency?
-----a. You must go to their profile page and in the top right you can offer a contract.
-----b. This will bring you to the offer page where you must input the person’s daily salary, bonus, and length of contract and whether the contract will have a no-trade clause. It also allows you to add a comment when you offer the contract.
4. How do I retract an offer I gave out?
-----a. If you've over-offered and have to retract a few offers, just go to the "Received/Sent Offers" tab, click on contract offers, and you can choose to retract the offers that are still outstanding. Once someone accepts the offer, you can't retract it.
5. How do I get a human player from a CPU team?
-----a. It’s actually the same process; human players on CPU teams are allowed to sign a human contract, even if they’re signed to a CPU contract. When that happens the CPU contract is voided. However, if the team is bought by a human owner before the player accepts the contract, you will not be able to get him.
6. How do I trade for a player?
-----a. You can either go to a player’s profile and click on the “make a trade offer” link, or go through the player’s team’s roster.
-----b. Then you will have to create a “fair” trade for that player through cash, other players or a combination of both. The AI will determine if it’s a balanced trade and you can tell if the green bar is in the middle when you adjust the trade.
-----c. Once you have completed your side, the other team’s owner must approve of the trade. In the case that he does, the trade will become pending and will be processed during the night. If he rejects, you must repeat the process.
-----d. Note when you receive the player, you receive him with the remaining contract that he has, so be sure to check the person’s contract BEFORE trading for him. Also it would be a good idea to see if the player wants to be on your team or not because trading for someone who doesn’t want to be traded will give you more trouble than it’s worth.
7. How do I release a player?
-----a. You have to go to a player’s profile and click “Release Player”
-----b. You will need to confirm that you want to release the player and he will be dropped.
8. How do I renegotiate a contract?
-----a. You have to go to a player’s profile and click “Renegotiate Contract”.
-----b. The page will look exactly like the offer player page, except you’re doing it with a player that’s currently on your roster.
9. How do I put players onto the depth chart?
-----a. Click on the depth chart tab and click on the position you want to put a player in the depth chart for. Look at the “Available Roster” for the player that you want to add and click assign to position.
-----b. If you want to take someone off the depth chart just click “Remove from Position” and they will drop down into the “Available Roster”.
-----c. Whenever you make any changes in the depth chart, make sure you press "Update" or else the changes won't be saved.
10. How many players do you put into the KOS/KRS areas of the depth chart?
-----a. You will need to put at least 10 players in the depth chart of those slots. The order you put them in will determine how they line up for the first couple of special team plays, but as stamina goes into effect, the players’ positions will start going out of whack.
-----b. If you don’t have enough players on the depth chart, or a player is too tired to play his spot, the AI will put someone else in for you that isn’t on the list (usually based upon energy). If you don’t want the AI randomly choosing somebody, make sure that the KOS/KRS positions have more than 10 players on them.
11. How come I can’t put some players in 2 positions simultaneously?
-----a. There are going to be instances where you might want to put a player in as a backup in one position and a starter in another (ie LOT vs ROT). Sometimes the AI will not let you do this, but there is a way to circumvent this:
-----b. For the position that you want the player to start in, put a CPU, or some random player in as the starter. Then put the desired player in both backup slots. Then remove the random player or starter from the position.
12. Are there special considerations that need to be taken in terms of playing time with the depth chart?
-----a. Understand that you will have 2 starting slots for OT, OG, DE (L and R), DT (NT and DT), and WR and CB (Top 2 slots) as well as 3 starting slots for LB (LOLB, MLB, ROLB). So plan your roster to properly back-up those positions.
-----b. There are 2 positions that must be carefully looked at in terms of playing time and those are the FB and LB’s:
----------i. On the offensive side, there is going to be a fraction (~20%) of all plays that will call for a 3 WR set, which will have the FB sitting and a WR take his place. The amount of times this happens will correspond with how many passing plays you call. This will decrease the amt of playing time for FB’s and increase the playing time for WR, so make sure your depth chart takes this into account.
----------ii. On the defensive side, the AI will periodically (~30% of all plays) set up a nickel or dime package. In a nickel package, the LOLB will sit and be replaced by a CB. In a dime package, both the LOLB and ROLB will be replaced by CB’s. The number of plays this is employed in will correspond to how many pass defense plays you set. But this will decrease the playing time for the LOLB and ROLB (moreso the LOLB) and increase the playing time for CB’s, so make sure your depth charts reflects these issues.
----------iii. These issues will probably be resolved once the admins and developers implement the advanced tactics, but until then realize that these things occur.
13. How do I assign a GM and what can they do?
-----a. You assign a GM by clicking on the “Assign GM’s” link on your team’s profile page.
-----b. Your GM does not have to be a player on your team, he can be anybody you want, but you should be able to trust him.
-----c. Once you click that, you must enter the person’s username and then determine how much access he has based upon these privileges:
----------i. Adjust Offense – He will be able to adjust the offensive tactics (like an OC) and general tactics (stamina requirements and auto tactics)
----------ii. Adjust Defense – He will be able to adjust the defensive tactics (like a DC) and general tactics (stamina requirements and auto tactics)
----------iii. Adjust DC – Adjust Depth Chart (self-explanatory)
----------iv. Make Trades – Self-explanatory
----------v. Send Offers – Self-explanatory (but when a player accepts or rejects the offer, only the owner is notified, not the GM)
----------vi. Renegotiate/Cut Players/Stadium/Finances/Mod Forum – All these should be self explanatory.
-----d. You can have as many GM's as you want
14. What should I set my stamina requirements to?
-----a. There is no right or wrong answer for this and people will be shifting their values as the gameplay changes http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=79811.When you are setting these numbers, you have to take into consideration the stamina of your players, your depth chart and the amount of energy they will expend.
-----b. The default setting for stamina are 65% Min Stamina before Sub (the energy level that’s reached by the starter before the backup comes in) and 85% Min Stamina to Return (the energy level that’s optimally needed for a player to return to the field)
-----c. It still is not certain exactly how the substitutions work in terms of whether energy or the depth chart is more important in determining who comes in, so the stamina settings will have to be toyed with.
15. How useful is the auto tactic adjustment?
-----a. Once again this is all a matter of opinion. But the way the auto tactic adjustment works is that it will alter your team’s gameplan based upon which plays are successful and which ones aren’t. You can adjust the severity of the change on a scale of 0-100.
-----b. While this sounds like a great idea, the AI can auto adjust to the point where it completely disregards your gameplan, so be careful on how you use it if you do choose to. And you should probably tweak the settings as you go along.
16. How do individual player tactics play into a gameplan?
-----a. You will need to indicate what type of gameplan you're going to execute in order for each individual player to set their advanced tactics. If their tactics coincide with your gameplan, you will have a lot more success. For example, the QB has individual settings of how often he scrambles and who his top receiving targets are. If you want to play a short passing game, you'll want him to set the receivers to the possession receivers/TE or FB, not a speed receiving deep threat. Communication with your team before a game is very important to get each individual's advance tactic to sync up with your gameplan.
17. Is there anything else I need to know about tactics?
-----a. No, basically the majority of your time outside of personnel issues will reside in studying other team’s (and your own) game tape to determine what the best tactics settings will be for your team’s success.
-----b. The better you know the strengths and weaknesses of your own team, the more successful your gameplanning will be. If you base your gameplan solely on the other team and take your team out of what it’s good at, it probably won’t be a recipe for success. A good gameplan, along with other factors (such as energy, chemistry and play intensity), could help you overcome a 1-2 level deficit.
