What is this forum for?
This sub-forum has been created for two reasons:
1) To help educate football fans on the traditions of other schools, and
2) as a resource for the customizable stadium sounds & music feature in NCAA Football 09.
How do I use this new feature?
1) Have file saved onto your system hard drive. Please note that this feature is only available on the X-Box 360 and on the Playstation 3.
2) In NCAA Football 09, click on 'My NCAA 09' and then Custom Stadium Sounds.
3) Select the team whose stadium sounds you wish to edit.
4) Choose the particular event you wish to use a custom sound for.
5) Under 'Select Playlist', select the sound clip you wish to use.
6) Click 'Accept Settings'
7) Exit and Save Profile.
Sound formats:
- On 360 you'll need to create a playlist in order to utlize stadium sounds
- For PS3 you will need to use MP3 files, but via the 360 you can use any kind of file the 360 is capable of handling, as long as it's in a playlist.
- Playback is capped at 60 seconds, or until the ball is snapped (or another event occurs). This is how this works as opposed to the file playing until the next event.
Please note that the custom sounds only work for the home team when they are playing at their home stadium.
What events can I use custom sounds for?
Field Goal Kick is Successful
PAT is Successful
2 Pt Conversion is Successful
Touchdown
Safety
Defense on 3rd Down
Defense on 4th Down
Kickoff
Timeout - Home
Timeout - Visitor
Tackle for Loss/Sack

How long will the clips play?
Playback is capped at 60 seconds, or until the ball is snapped (or another event occurs). This is how this works as opposed to the file playing until the next event.

1) How do you move songs to the 360?
2) How do you create a playlist on the 360?
3)If you're using a playlist file, can I use a playlist file from a PC that I have networked with my 360? (currently I am using TVersity to share music and video)

MORE INFORMATION
You must have an Xbox 360 Hard Drive to save playlists.
To edit or to save a playlist, follow these steps: 1. In the Media section in the Xbox 360 Dashboard, select Music.
2. Select from the following music sources: • Hard Drive
• Computer (Windows Media Connect or through Windows Media Center)
• Current Disc
• Portable Device
Note After you select the music source that you want, you can select the albums, the artists, the songs, or the genres that you want to save as a playlist. You can also create a playlist that consists of a mixture these selections. You can also add songs to a playlist from other sources.
3. After you create a playlist, the current playlist will appear in the Music Player. From the Music Player, you can select Edit Playlist or Save Playlist.• If you select Edit Playlist, you view the Edit Current Playlist screen. On the Edit Current Playlist screen, you can select arrows to change the order of the songs, or you can select x to delete songs from the playlist.
• If you select Save Playlist and the current playlist consists of songs from the Xbox 360 Hard Drive, you can save the playlist or name the playlist.

One thought...if you add in a school's music after starting the dynasty will it recognize when you play at their stadium?

No. That's just for roster files.

So you can't put a song on when the Players are running onto the field??
There goes my Bulls On Parade when Texas runs onto the field

Nope...but hopefully in a future edition they can get team intros. That would be very well received.

THe first time I heard of the feature A buddy and I started brainstorming of ones I guess it would work for kick off.
I mean how sweet would it be to make Toledo to come into Rocket Man or have Georgia Tech come into Flight of the Bumblebee.

If I have mp3's on a flash drive can I import the files from it or do I have to move them to the hard drive?

Does a given "sound" play on top of the ambient crowd noise or does it replace it?
Meaning if I put a fight song or something in, will it play in dead silence if there's no crowd on the track or does it simply add to the crowd noise that's already in the game?
Good question.
It will play along with the crowd noise. It will cut out any songs (or pre-programmed music/chants) that would play otherwise.

Ah, good news. Thanks.
Also, can we set the stadium sounds for every team in the game if we want to or are we limited to one "favorite" team or whatever?
You can edit 50 sounds total. (There are 22 editable situations, but you can set sounds for a specific team or 'All.')
In the huge Q&A thread, Greg did let it out that the patch may/will let users set sounds for when the CPU is the home team. Right now, it only plays for when the user is the home team at their home stadium.

1.What if your "custom stadium sound" has a crowd in the background? Can you still hear that crowd mixed in with the video game crowd? That might sound wierd?
2. This is my biggest dilemma? If I have gotten some music files from a friend through a thread (MP3). Can I put a flash drive in and save them? Then put that flash drive into my 360 and save them to a playlist? Then use that playlist for my Custom Stadium Sounds?
Koach Vonner
1. Depending on the variation, it may sound bad or it may sound just fine. I think people will have to play around with clips once they get the game.
2. A 360 owner would have to weigh in on that. I'm not sure how that process works for the 360.

Sorry if this is in the Q&A thread (I will look there now), but do we know if the custom sounds work on-line and if your opponent will hear them (assuming you are the home team)?

They will work online but only you'll hear them. To do this online, it would take far too long for the game to "trade" music/sounds to the visiting player.

Was there ever any confirmation as to whether there would be a patch, or is still dependent on what is found after release? Thanks.

guys, i have a buncha mp3's set up on my comp for michigan and florida. now, i can put em on my flash drive, but i highly doubt i can save my custom stadium music on there because i remember the flash drive (it's been awhile) only being to be a play only and non-rippable device. so this mean sill have to burn them to a cd in most likelihood. correct?
also, iis this "playlist" supposed to contain all of your custom sounds tht you want in the 50, or do u hav to have different playlists for each team, or each instance, etc..?

yes, it does BLOW and takes a long time. here are the steps that I did personally, maybe this will help, maybe it wont.
1- put all songs into a single folder on PC
2- burnt them onto a CD
3- stuck CD in xbox
4- chose to RIP them onto xbox
5- went to the MUSIC tab on xbox dashboard
6- chose the PLAY SONG
7- chose the save to playlist
8- gave it an individual name
9- repeat 6 through 8 for all songs
10- started NCAA
11- picked the custom sounds tab
12- went through every possible sound feature and picked the appropriate sound and hit ACCEPT
13- mine didn't take effect until AFTER I turned my xbox OFF and back ON
That is it. Hope this helps. If you have a question ask. This whole process did take me quite some time to accomplish so if you are confused because you feel it shouldn't be this hard, well it is....

Mine on PS3 does something similiar, it'll only play the kickoff event and nothing else. I can change the kickoff song to any of my mp3's and it'll play it but it only does that 1 event. Anyone know why?

What if you want more then one song to rotate out for a situation...let's say, a touchdown. I don't want Zombie Nation to play every time PSU scores...if you add other songs to that playlist will it randomize them???

so for PS3, you make a folder on the computer, then burn the songs from that folder onto a cd, then put the cd in the PS3?
Thanks

On my PC, Ive got like 15 songs and a folder. under the names of the songs it says mp3. I made a cd and put it in the ps3 but when it showed up it said AAC next to the song. when I tried to put the songs in the custom sound file on the ncaa game, it said only mp3 files were allowed.
Anyone know what Im doing wrong?
I'm using Windows Media Player to make the CD

Could someone please help me move these files onto my 360? I have tried creating a playlist with music both from my iPod and from a burned CD, but I read that the Xbox will only accept audio CD's and not an mp3 CD?
I have several sounds that I would love to hear in the game, but don't know quite how I go about getting it onto my hard-drive. Thanks in advance for the advice.

I tried that, and when I put in the CD it was loading as a "Mixed Media CD", and wouldn't give me the option of ripping the songs.
Edit:
I was burning mp3 CD's and not audio CD's!! Problem solved.

2.5 write down what order your songs are, when i burnt they were all renamed "track #".
11.5 hit "y" before picking songs
12.5 save your profile before restarting. this cost me hours.

Anyone having problems with their 360 freezing after setting custom sounds up? Mine is constantly freezing, and losing the sounds, so I never get my custom sounds in the game.

I think I may have found the problem to be one playlist may be the culprit. Now I have to see if I can recreate the playlist or if it's the sound file that's causing problems.

What system are you on?
If on PS3, rip the songs to your HD.
If on 360, the songs will need to be on your HD and a playlist created for each 'event.'

I'm on 360 but that wasn't my problem. I changed all of my songs from MP3's to WAV and it worked so I guess on 360 they have to be WAV.
