From what I've seen of Gilroy, they look like they want to run a "Coryell" style offense, with lots of power running and deep passes. I dont think either would succeed well against us, as we have a solid interior line and good speed at DB. If I have more time tomorrow I'll come up with a better hypothesis, but we'll see.

Also, they have no human DT/NT. They have a lvl 4 CPU DT and 2 lvl 3 NT. With how much we have run to the outside lately, they may not prepare for us to go up the middle. Just a little tidbit for y'all in the morning.

Gilroy Defense:

AVG rush yds allowed/game - 144
AVG pass yds allowed/game - 205

Their defense is obviously somewhat spotty. There were 3 games where their opponent did not gain 100 yds rushing, but it 2 of those games they gained nearly 300 yards through the air (the other was a win over a bad team). They do, however, have a level 8 CB (the rest of their secondary are level 5's), who definitely poses a threat.

They have improved a lot since starting the season 0-4, and we can't take them lightly just because they have a losing record.

Man, I feel sorry for scouts/game planners this season. With all the new injection of owners and players, teams have added and lost players like crazy before every game. Just yesterday we were firm favorites, but opponents continue to add new and better users.

When teams finally start to settle and development starts becoming a factor, we should have the edge. All teams are just so unpredictable right now.

Haha hopefully Devon Kennard Lvl 4 DE can help out too :D

The reason I joined up here was I knew everyone here would be really competent with the player development and strategy. I think we'll do well.

Any strategy planned out yet for the next game? And where should I put emphasis (run / pass)?

The play call. Sometimes the CPU decides to go 4 wides, so they sub out the FB and TE and put in extra WR's (and the defense will often respond in kind, subbing out LB's for DB's). But we have no control over that either.

Thats purely an auto sort thing...you guys are just going back and forth...maybe if someone has a really big game you could stake a claim on the starters job... purposely alternating starts is also an option for sure especially if you are the same level

fiz

MtneerManiac
03-28-2008, 02:31 AM
Unless one of us has like 10 tackles and the other one has like 2, I support the switching option. Since we're both the same level, and we get the same amount of plays in the end with the substitution ratio that's set.

It's just nice to say "Hey! I started!" :D

EDIT: Or, we could make two different types of players, and have said person start according to the type of team we're playing. For instance, one of us could make a run stopper while the other makes a pass stopper. If we did that, I'd prefer to be the run stopper, since I've sort of speced my guy out for that anyway. :p

The dang auto sort has been telling me forever he should be our punt return man...after the fumble on a punt return which cost us the game in essence, we'll give him a shot this week.
Maybe because there are no good punters yet [they all kick it around 25 yards] you need a tough guy to catch it...since the cover team is right on ya!

OVERALL we have them 24/21

Our blocking is 24 and running 21 / against their run def 21
Our passing 21 and receiving 18 /their pass def 18

Our run defense 21 / their running 21 blocking 21
Our pass defense 18 /their receiving 15 their passing 21

We have them in kicking as well 33/27

Could you list the punt team? And also, please put the fastest guys as the two second from last people. I have noticed that our speed burners have been playing the contain people (last on either side). That's a good idea but as show here (http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=381479) and especially here (http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=381664) Cooper Conner, who has 33.38, just stops and waits for the defender to get to him giving up crutical yards. Why not put Connor second from last where he can bolt down field without having to worry about contain?

But man, that's not realistic at all. The outside guys are always the gunners, whose only job is to fly to the ball. Weird. [rock]

We can't really tell the computer to sim that [yet!] Hopefully they add features like that later on...but I am trying something similar today...our #1 WR is in the #2 slot. If the program reads player levels first it won't matter he'll be matched against their best CB...but if the program reads what slot you are in [ie #1 WR or #2 WR] and matches it with the defensive counterpart...weez in bizness!

I have a real problem with outkicking my coverage:

http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=437480

My coverage doesn't get the to them until the returner usually gets to the 40 yard line. Though, I saw I boomed one 68 yards which eclipsed my last best of 63.(On KO, no FGs attempted today, but 2/4 on PATs).

We should continue to do that. Our line will keep getting better and other teams didn't get as much of a head start on developing a power run game as we did. It will be unstoppable.

It wasn't really anybodies fault. The LB came on a delayed blitz up the middle, and nobody picked him up.

Exactly. I'd rather make the playoffs as #3 and play the #2 in the second round, than make the playoffs as the #4 seed and have to play the #1 seed in the second round.

Though even playing as the #4 seed will do, and I am confident we will still kick ass on our way to the championship.

We definitely have a shot. However, right now, we are not the favorite. We've got to develop a good bit before then - I think teams like San Fran. would be rated substantially above us.

Yeah, the only person who wasn't engaged on a block was the TE, and there was just no way he was going to get across the entire line to block the LB.

Yeah, when I level, I go 3 kicking, 1 vision, 1 strength. But the reason I think vision may be a problem is:

Vision - Did you see that hole open to the left? Can you see the goalposts? Vision helps ALL players know what is going on around them. It is very important for QBs "threading the needle" with passes. It's also sort of the "6th sense" of predicting what your opponent is going to do when blocking or trying to break blocks.

But certainly PATs should be makeable regardless.

Right now it's very hard to gage what ratings will work the best. I saw a similar problem with the K on my first team. He boosted every kicking aspect and still had problems. I'm thinking that you need to also balance out the other categories too.

Well, Estes has similar abilities in punting and is only getting it an average of in the 20s per punt, I think. So I just think kickers start out awful in these games and it'll take awhile to build them up. I hope.

The attributes I have figured are important are: Kicking(56), Strength(13.84), Vision(13.96), and Confidence(30). So I'm going to continue just focusing on the first three and seeing how far that takes me. It was probably a bad idea to invest in my Special Abilities so much so early: Calm Nerves(2), Big Boot(2), Auto-Matic(3).

But I created Hooking the first day this thing came to Utopia, and I'm(like others) are still learning what works and doesn't.
