Run Counters on the 3-3-5, especially on the 4-2-5 run counters out of the pistol against the 4-2-5, it works really nice out of the 3-2-6 run power runs straight up the middle. something with 3 TE's or like a I-form Heavy.

What specifically are you having trouble with? Reading the defenses? Running? Passing?

It's a firm belief of mine that you must know what the strength of something is in order to exploit it's weakness.

The 3-3-5 setup basically puts a NT over the C. The MLB in this type of defense is usually a big time play maker. The NT frees him up so that he doesn't get blocked, which allows him to read the play and attack. The purpose of the other four defenders in this setup is to clog holes to allow the MLB to flow to all part of the field. As someone already mentioned, counters work really well against this defense, especially if you can get the MLB going in the wrong direction. You can also try running right at this defense with stron sets like I form Big. Might even want to try motioning the TE and snapping the football when he's in the A gap (to pretty much act like a double Iso play). Take care of the MLB in this alignment and you can run all day.

You also have opportunities to pass. The 3-3-5 is an aggressive defense that has to blitz a lot to make up for it's lack of size up front. As a result, if you can find ways to neutralize that blitz via your pass protection, you can make big yards downfield. Then once you get the defense to stop blitzing, you can run pretty easily.

just about any play action pass with three recivers eats these defenses alive. If someone sends the blitz you'll always have an outlet. get to the line as fast as possible before every play and look over the defensive set up and you should be able to see where the blitz is coming from and hot route a receiver to the open spot.:D
