Making a new thread and making it a sticky to attempt to rid Utopia of the 10k threads of similiar nature that would surely follow in the next couple of weeks.
As of today, June 21st 2007 at 17:03 MDT the Official NCAA Football 2008 release date is July 17th 2007. DO NOT come on Utopia claiming you have the game before that date without visual, impenetrable, proof. Expect swift, ban-related consequences for violation of this directive.
And yes, I totally plagiarized Tricky's post from two years ago, and my own post from last year.

This topic will remain closed until someone from Utopia has the game. If you get the game yourself, PM a mod WITH PROOF and ask them to unlock this thread so that you can begin sharing impressions/information. Until then, when people from other sites have the game and are sharing impressions, please use The Official "He Got It" Thread (http://www.ncaastrategies.com/utopia/showthread.php?t=49664).

No seriously. And don't try to put up some garbage where you print off the cover on your $35 laser printer and slip it into a random DVD case. Please don't waste our time unless you really do have the game early and are potentially willing to take people's questions, and if you want to look into what color socks the Wyoming punter has.

I got the game at the BG store mentioned before. Mods should be able to check my gamertag Boxboy1999. Edit my thread as you wish so I can post impressions.
My agenda today.
1) I picked up a copies for friends. I will be taking King Skinny (banned member) his copy here in few minutes. We will play a friendly game.
2) Probably will start a campus legend or go online. I dont want to start a personal dynasty yet, will probably wait for FK rosters.
3) Sim a dynasty to check stats and new recruiting.
I will post what I can today. Might be tough later, as I just started playing in a Rainbow Six clan with a friends and he is putting us on tons of games on game battles and they will probably need me later tonight. He already told me we got challenged by a pretty high level clan because we have moved up in Rankings so quick.
Store in BG had a pretty large stack of 360 games BTW.

I hope that doesn't sound mean, I'm just trying to help.

Thread closed until prove can be shown. I checked your gamer tag and currently do not show you as having signed onto Xbox Live with it. Obviously since you just got the game that's not to say you don't have it, but that's the only proof you've shown so far.
I'll be leaving this afternoon but if you would PM a mod once you have proof available and we'll be happy to open this thread so that you can share with the rest of Utopia.

camera angle questions.
in the regular game is there overhead veiw? if no, how about any other angles besides default?
During campus legend if you pick a DB or a LB does the camera follow you around or the ball or is it center on you always facing the ball aka 2k style?
BTW congrats on getting the game early. I'm happy for you but at the same time I want to knock you into a mud puddle and steal your game.

you should play a game at Kansas State's stadium in a bit and see just how accurate the weather channel thing is. They're about to have a severe line of storms over them in the near future. It's also starting to rain in Lincoln, NE right now but they'll probably miss the severe stuff. Madison, WI is another option for strong storms later today. LSU has a strong line blowing over right now and Starkville, MS (Miss St) has storms on the way.
Yes I know...i'm a weather nerd who can't wait to play a game in Miami or the Carolinas in hurricane conditions! ;)

I played a game to verify something for soce (and to take a break from the tedious task I was doing) and I have to agree. A lot of the 'junk' I could do last year I can't now.
Lost my first game. Love it.

Wouldn't think more than 5 minutes or so. Just start with Army (or whoever's first), go to the full roster list and scroll down, obviously not as fast as you can but you can be moderately quick. As far as hosting it, if you can get it into a divx format easily enough, you can share up to a 200MB file on http://stage6.divx.com. If you can't zshare has a 100MB limit; I think google video would be good enough quality and I don't believe it has a limit whatsoever.

Its halftime.... I am stuggling some cause its new game and this is way I always am.
Score ND 0 - UM 3
First downs 5 - 9
total OFF 70 - 119
Rush (8-5) - (10-43)
Completions (6-13) - (7-14)
Passsing yards 65 - 76
I have been picked twice. Once 100% my fault, other one was a deeper pass that got picked by a MLB. I will call that mostly my fault but I really didn't think he could get to it.

No, the number of formations varies, but usually around 16, not including goal line, hail mary and special teams.
Auburn looks like this:
Ace Big 3TE
Ace Big
Ace Big Twin WR
Ace Normal Slot
Ace Slot Strong
Ace Trips Bunch
I-Form Normal
I-Form Twin WR
I-Form TE Wing
Strong I Normal
Strong I Twin WR
Weak I Normal
Shotgun Normal Slot
Shotgun Slot Strong
Shotgun Double Flex
Shotgun Flip Trips
Shotgun Trips Strong
I'm up to Central Michigan, so please hold any more questions of this nature until later.

all around pretty fun game. I stink right now though and with a little practice will have to go to heisman. I just want to jump in here, and say that I looked at this a little bit ago on the regular xbox version, and I didn't see the Patriot League. So I don't know if you misread what was on that other site, or they didn't have their info correct. i dont want to come off as negative, but the more i practice here in heisman the more i think that onliners might not be really happy..... not sure and probably shouldn't state that but these spin moves and jukes with the super players seem a bit over done and over powered if timed right. I'm interested in a couple things.
1) What formations does it have?
2) Does it have auto-motion for WB handoffs -- if so, how do they work?
I'm also interested to see how effective some of the running plays out of wishbone are (assuming the PB has some wishbone).
Have you taken a look at any of the spread option stuff? What are your impressions of that, in terms of the run blocking of the OL?

I just got a couple of SPD ratings for AU's OLine and one of our Frosh Gs (Fairley) and a Frosh T (Ziemba) has a 65 spd rating. I know that you are interested in the games recruits speeds, but I would take this as a good sign for your faster OL demands.

Could I get the overall for the following players on UNLV:
QB #3 (Rocky Hinds)
WR #88 (Ryan Wolfe)
WR #80 (Casey Flair)
DE #9 (Jeremy Geathers)
LB #2 (Beau Bell)
CB #5 (Mil'Von James)
QB #4 (Jarrod Jackson) - Might have been changed to defensive back, as that's what the real coach has done with him.
And on the off chance that that that list doesn't contain all of the impact players (they may have gone with LB #33, Jason Beauchamp) could you list those as well.
Thanks a bunch.

Just for you sweetcheeks:
Flexbone Normal
Flexbone Slot
Flexbone Split
Flexbone Tight
Flexbone Trips
Flexbone Twins
Flexbone Wide
Wishbone Normal
Wishbone Tight
Wishbone Wide
Jumbo T Big
Full House Normal Wide
I-Form Normal
I-Form Twin WR
I-Form 3WR
I-Form Twin TE Wing
Looks like the flexbones each have to auto-motion plays, a triple option and a triple option counter (where possible, some lack the counter). You'll want to motion a WB on every play to disguise the two true auto-motion pays, but I can see there being a nice possibility to set plays up here. The blocking looks pretty good, which helps. Navy could be dominant in this game.
Wishbone runs seem to work ok (mind you I'm just in practice mode vs 43 man cover 2). It is all about the blocking in this game though. If you are patient you can really work your way into holes and grind out yards.
(Hooray!!! First disk read error!! [down] )
I am using Utah right now and while there aren't a ton of option plays in there, they are generally complimentary. Lots of jet sweeps, jet sweep fakes, pa jet sweep, etc. And the no-back SG's have jet sweeps. Nice. You can read the DE's to decide which man to give to, which is very nice. You don't have to choose before the snap.
I have still not found anything with a shovel pass option.

As far as I could tell, it isn't in UF's book (although that playbook is ridonkulous). I don't remember the video EA released that had it, if it was last gen or current gen. I have completed book listing through the F's. It may be in the game, but neither of the prime suspects, UF and Utah, have it.

Patience grasshopper. I am building the playbook/formation spreadsheet first, then I will do the screen shot stuff. I have all of next week off, remember.
I have already found a few cases where they have the same formation, but with a different name. This was the case last year too, I believe. I will collect them and note them as I go along. I will also verify to make sure they aren't variants, which they had last year. I-Form Twins and I-Form Twin WR last year were like that.
One really cool thing I saw this morning in practice mode. I ran a PA QB Choice type of play, and did NOT give to the RB. The LB assigned to him absolutely obliterated his ass, and so he was never able to end up going out for his pass route, and the other routes were covered so my QB got sacked. I re-ran the play several times and probably half the time the RB got wiped out. So, I am going to try it with a play that does the same thing but with a FB and see what happens. If it goes similarly, it would mean the PA QB Choice/PA FB swing type plays aren't as money as last year.

I thought we established it was your TV that made it look that way.
Well, maybe. I'm skeptical about that theory because '07 looks awesome on it, Gears of War looks awesome on it, FIFA looks awesome on it, Viva Pinata looks awesome on it, and even Halo 2 looks awesome on it. I need to go back and look at Madden '07, but I remember hating the way it looked (although I don't remember it being washed out and crappy). I am hoping that the demo looked bad because it was a demo, but other recent demos (Overlord, Halo 3) looked great.
But whatever, enough about that for right now. Maybe it is just an aesthetics issue. How well do special teams play this year? Is the blocking on kick and punt returns competent? Also, is your best long snapper always your center?
How much recruiting have people done? Is it fun, or is it a chore to deal with all the extra options? Does it seem easy? Also, how are the recruits turning out? Are they rated in more or less the same way they have been in previous years? Are there "gems and busts" like we've been promised with Madden?

General game thoughts based on what I have played:
Positives:
1) The O-line blocking which has been discussed widely already is really a nice thing to see for me. Both for the CPU and for me. It really comes down to men in the box vs. blockers this year and that is just fantastic. I think EA did a great job in revamping this in a single year. They did such a great job, I wish they would get others to take a lead in this for things like play book design which I think could use a MAJOR overhaul next year. I think this game is worth buying to anyone who is on the fence simply for the O-line blocking that was put in this year.
2) Auto motion this year is really nice/fun/new/refreshing. Other then O-line doing a 200% better job, I think this is the next biggest improvement although I do believe there is room for a lot more. I was really hoping to be able to shovel pass but I am yet to find this on the 360. I won't complain though because I personally found this feature to be so nice that I found myself searching for play books that had the most green lines in them. (Green represents auto motion)
3) 60 FPS is nice and smooth and I think slows the game down enough that it makes running 10000 times more enjoyable for me. Perhaps this is because I am old and decrepit but I can see the holes develop better and slide through them. Also, the RBs automatically scoot and twist their way through the openings. Its really nice to see and has brought back the want for me to run the ball.
4) Its very early so I might be way off on this but I think that the CPU AI play calling has taken a step in the RIGHT direction. I wont talk much about this because it might be just do to how bad I suck but I felt way more like I was playing a human then ever before. However, I did question some of his offensive plays late in the game when I had the lead.
5) New animations are really well done IMO. Both the tackling and the catching animations are super. It will pay to have a big WR like FSU's #89 that you can loft it up to against man blitzes. These big guys will make the defense think twice about going man to man with no help over the top.
6) Its harder to roll and chuck it with success. I believe that EA has done a good job here in giving us enough reasons to not have to do this. I can't explain them all right now after only one evening of playing and little sleep, but rolling out to the side and waiting 9 seconds until the WRs just run by the DBs will be a lot harder to do this year. Finally setting in the pocket and making throws with a pocket passer is going to be rewarded.
7) This branch animation thingy that allows me to stay out of animations seems really nice. Passes to the sidelines no longer feel as scripted as before.
8) D-linemen batting down passes was a pleasant surprise.
Negatives: Read these knowing damn well that I have had very little time to play this game so these are simply my impressions after a couple of hours.
1) Biggest negative is the graphic sticking that I still get just like the demo did. It gets really annoying after play after play. I am shocked this made it into the game and wonder if it is my xbox. If it is, I will be taking my xbox 360 back and cashing in on my warranty I bought.
2) FUMBLES..... baaah, there I said it. I just don't expect fumbles to be a problem when I am handing the ball to Mike Hart but they are still there, looming over my head. It only seems to happen on the inside runs when there is a lot of traffic. They did seem less then the demo, but then again I was trying to be careful to not touch anything when around defenders in the box. After you are out of the box these fumbles seem to come way down.
3) Broken tackles and spin moves seem "broken". It seems to me that the animation for these warps the ball carrier down field and gives him an unfair advantage relative to the other 21 players on the field. I seem to GAIN distance on my pursuers after I perform a perfect spin on a DB down field. This goes down a bit on heisman but still seems to be overdone to me and I think could be one hell of a problem in HUM vs. HUM if the humans got stick skills.
4) Game play atmosphere and presentation. Now, I am a guy who would much rather have solid game play then presentation but I am surprised that we still have this lack luster presentation that doesn't at all mimic real life college football or even what EA was doing back in like 2003 and 2004. Again, I would love to see a single guy step up like VJ LeBlanc did for the blocking and do the presentation of the pre-game, game and post game like VJ did. I think it would be spectacular and really appreciated on those BIG NATIONAL GAMES when you want to feel the electricity in your veins..... okay, maybe I am a little queer.... :)
5) I know I listed CPU AI play calling as a positive above but I am also going to list it as a negative here. While overall it felt better, I still had a game against ND where they went 0-4 on FGs. I didn't look at their kicker so maybe he just blows but wouldn't the coach know this and quick kicking them or something? They even attempted a 52 yarder that wasn't even close. Oh, I made a 52 yarder with Michigan's kicker by the way and unlocked the 50 yard FG kick achievement.
6) Someone to take the play books by the balls like VJ did the blocking and revamp play books. Watch some game tape or ask the experts and get some more plays in there, we WANT THE SHOVEL PASS :) Also, I would recommend allowing us to make our own play books. This having to select from individual play books just seems to make it more frustrating then it has to be. They are all kind of the same with different limitations. I only found a couple where I actually felt like it was a positive to use them, most made me feel negative somehow.
7) Online dynasty where the CPU can play and we can 3rd party watch - enough said.
Overall I am very pleased after day 1 with the game as long as I don't have a damn seizure from the screen pausing. I did kinda feel eye strain but maybe that was my tiredness kicking in on top of forgetting to blink for 5 hours. I am looking forward to playing this game Saturday morning and all day sunday and monday. Its good enough that I think I will just take afternoon off to play. I hope that VJ gets a nice bonus for his work and that they use what he did as a model for how to get things improved in the future. If they had like 2 guys/year doing things like this, they would have the best thing since sliced bread and 2K sports would not have a football market to even consider.

I remember seeing a shovel pass in the video that showed the trick plays. It was a shotgun option play with the option to pitch it like a regular option or shovel pass it to a guy in front. Surely they wouldn't have shown that video and not have the play in the game. That would be stupid even for EA.

How quickly is the CPU snapping the ball on offense? Is there time to move guys around and call hot-routes and such on D or is the CPU snapping the ball with 15 seconds still on the playclock (as it did in the demo)?

They snap the ball relatively QUICKLY which I personally LOVE. This makes it very hard for you to bastardize the pre-snap AI. For instance I called an 8 man blitz out of the 4-3 and I took the SS and walked him to the edge. The CPU made a quick audible and threw a fly pattern to the outside for 30 yards. I was like... FOOOOOOOOOCKING AWESOME!!! They play a LOT MORE like a human would.

Good stuff soce. Regarding the eye strain, people, keep an eye (no pun intended) on this, because last night and this morning after playing, I got a headache. It may be a result of the 60fps...wouldn't that be a bitch.
Just playing around with the running game a bit when testing Navy for Rhombic, and what I notice is that in general, there is no point in using the juke stick much at all. The reason is that you can maneuver just fine in traffic with the left stick and the RB will do some automatic 'shimmying', for lack of a better term. Juke stick should essentially be reserved for when you have a one on one situation and you want to see if you can get around a guy. In traffic, keep your finger ready on the cover-up button.
RB's and WR's do a good job of changing directions this year. Last year, that could be problematic, especially for WR's for some reason. On the Jet sweeps, I was able to read holes in the line between the tackles and actually cut back up under them, which was pretty awesome.
To further elaborate on the jets, let me say that for most (not all) of the formations that have these in them, they did a pretty good job of making them complimentary. So, you will have a slot jet sweep play, a slot jet QB choice play (you can keep with the QB), a slot jet sweep PA QB choice play, etc. You can really get some nice play set-ups in there in order to set the defenses up for something later.
As soce said, right now it feels more like football. When a pay fails it doesn't seem to be because the play design is bad or because of a glitch (super sliding LB's anyone?), but because the blocking and tackling panned out properly. So far, it appears that you will really need to study your playbook and develop some actual play calling strategy. On AA, the CPU was not a pushover as in years past, and really did a good job of mixing in run, pass, option, and PA. I couldn't just sit back in a man cover 2 and casually play defense like I did last year. And the CPU didn't give up the run game late in a close game.

This is great news for players like me that script plays and develop a plan going into a game. I love setting up a play and there's something very satisfying about fooling [out-thinking] the defense.

It's in the second video about a minute into it.
OK, assuming they are using Florida's default playbook, then it will be in SG 2RB3WR. I don't recall seeing such a play in there, but I will look again tonight. I did not see anything with the word 'shovel' in it, so I am guessing it is probably listed as an option pass.

to anyone that has the game......do the program pitches(prestige, pro factory, tv exposure) increase or decrease over time depending on how well you do?
I don't think that anyone has gone into the dynasty modes yet to find this out, and certainly haven't gotten far enough with a mediocre team to find out. I would suggest posting this in the "I Got It: Next generation" thread at the top of the page and hopefully someone will see it and give it a try.

actually I think it's a run. If it's the play I'm thinking about, it's an option run with a potential hand-off to the FB going left, or a QB keeper with the option to pitch it to the HB in front of him (where the shovel comes in).

No, looking at the video it is clear it is a designed play, the FB takes pitch relationship and flows with the play. If it were a choice to hand off to him, he'd go off to block somebody.

One thing I wanted to mention. If this game had the formation audibles, even with relatively bland play selection in the playbooks, the game would be near-perfect.
Add a robust, functional practice mode to allow people to really learn their playbooks, and the game would be perfect.

Good stuff soce. Regarding the eye strain, people, keep an eye (no pun intended) on this, because last night and this morning after playing, I got a headache. It may be a result of the 60fps...wouldn't that be a bitch.
That would be the ultimate payback to some of the 360 fanboys who laughed when the 60/30 news was released.
To some of you, I would feel pity. To others, let's just say I would sleep well at night.[evil] :D

I just let the intro play for the first time and they have a tutorial on it and talk about siming. You can sim part of a game that you are in and jump back in at any time. So if you dont want to play defense you can just sim that! pretty cool although I like to play every down.

Directed towards anyone who has the game...have any of you tried Heisman yet? I was curious to see if the increased difficulty meant that the CPU 'cheated' more or if there was definitely a feeling of the players playing better and more efficiently.
In years past, it seemed like upping the difficulty to Heisman just meant that you would have more WTF? moments. I was curious to see if there was anything like that in this year's game.

They are independent. EA doesn't seem to care about stores like that selling early since they represent such a small fraction of overall sales. I think Walmart actually dominates game sales (I know they do for video sales).
And, frankly, EA makes money on the sales, so it isn't like they are being hurt.

Two questions:
1) Are you sure you have enough statistics to make a good evaluation? 14 carries is not a lot - you may have simply had a three-sigma event piece of "luck."
2) What are your slider settings? I have never, ever, seen an EA football game that played well "out of the box." They all require massive slider work. Is it possible you just need to up the defensive awareness or break block or something for the CPU?

Well I am on default heisman sliders so who knows, massive adjustments might do something for it. What is broke is the contain on the D. They don't do a good job of keeping any sort of contain on the WR running the option and since you can pitch so late in the play its super easy to get outside. From there the most you will have is 1 vs 1 to score and either push up or B right before the collision with the DB and its a TD.
The reason I only had 14 carries is because I scored so fast. I had 311 yards rushing in the FIRST HALF of a 5 min quarter game. I will test later tonight if its okay to do with a team like Michigan with a slow-ass qb. That should force me to pitch it much sooner and thus keep me from breaking contain so easily. I made videos of all 4 TDs but I need to be home and learn how to work my xsata again to show you guys. Shouldn't you be able to view them through the EA server? If you can, they should already be there.

Okay, well, it is still a low statistics sample of events, so it will need further looking at. It sounds like upping the defensive tackle might be necessary - that slider affects both tackle and pursuit ratings, so it should help (unfortunately, this will probably also increase the number of fumbles).
The fundamental problem sounds like one we've complained about before - staggering accuracy on very, very late option pitches. (Item for the '09 wishlist, I guess.) This is a feature EA doubtless keeps in intentionally to appease the drooling idiots that evidently actually drive the bulk of their sales and demand the most arcadish ridiculousness possible.

I believe from rhombic and cdj's report from CD, they were really not even all that aware of it until those guys pointed it out. So, it may not be an intentional thing on their part.

FYI, I decided against this. The scrolling is very slow for one thing. As far as I could tell there is no page up/down ability, you have to scroll one-by one.
Also, you can only see the first few attribute columns on the screen. You have to scroll way over to the right to see all of them, and different attributes are important for different positions than what show up in the first bunch of columns, so I don't see how this would be useful to anyone really.

Do you really think that after reading the community day report?
Yes, and it is probably smart on their end. The vast bulk of EA's market does not care about realism in the slightest. They don't necessarily want a Blitz-type game with fire trailing off the football on long throws and rampant, over-the-top violence and such. But I think the bulk of their market would look at the ability to run 14 times for 311 yards and 4 td's as "awesome," and not as a "cause for concern."
Do I expect people at EA to come out and admit this at a special event for the hardest of the hard-core part of its playerbase? Obviously not. But look, if they really, really cared about the hard-core sim crowd, and catered to that playerbase, do you think we'd have motivation gimmicks with flaming icons? Or explosion sound effects on long passes (admittedly, a Madden feature)? Two flavors of the "Hit Stick?"
No. We wouldn't have any of that. The fact that we do tells me they spend more time thinking about people who want to jump on the couch and point at their friend while they run for 311 yards and 4 td's on 14 carries than fix basic CFB fundamentals like the option pitch. Now do I think they're all bad at EA? Of course not. As has been pointed out in this thread, we need to be lining up to service VJ LeBlanc's member. But when I can pitch the ball with perfect accuracy while being annihilated by a linebacker, I have to think EA either: a) did that intentionally, or b) has never play-tested their own game.

Try bumping CPU tackle to 100 and see if that affects the logic in the way it plays against the option. Then put tackle back to 50 and test awareness with 100.
Also, let us know how the kick & punt return and kick & punt block games are this year on AA & Heis.

Sorry guys, never got back on to post last night and had to work today. Overall I would this this is a very fun game, 04 type potential. The game I have played in have been very very defensive, much more than the demo.
I think all the people I personal know including myself have thrown lots of interceptions.
Fumbles dont really seem to be too much of and issue.
Deep ball is very very hard to complete, I did see my friend complete 2 hail mary's to Percy Harvin, but I think he got lucky more than anything and he is fastest player on the game. I user picked him almost everytime he went deep on me.
Zone blocking is very nice, it is awesome to see linemen attach the second level.
Running game seems good, I dont think I have broken anything long yet in the 4-5 games I have played. Running yards are earned but not impossible to get. No more automatic first down on 3rd or 4th and 2. The D can stuff the line and knock your ass back. The running backs dont fall forward on each play, if a second or third guy piles on you go back.
Recruiting is fun, it took me quite awhile to fill my board and make my first weeks calls. The timer on the calls seemed kinda random, some things only took a few minutes, other times the timer would run down and down. I had a couple people hang up on me after the time ran down quite a bit. I think you can hit the b button to stop the pitch. I did this after a couple kids hung up on me and didnt seem to have an issue.
Passing is hard, at least so far. The D is play so tight, window are hard to find, they play man tight. The cpu jumps your route. I played a six min qr AA game with toledo vs purdue and went like 12-14 for 90 yds. I think I only felt safe going to my TE and RB's passing. There isnt a lot of time to sit back and think with you QB like last year, you have to make a decision quick or your on your back. When I rolled out or seen anyone roll out they were pretty much toast. Scramble may be possible but much much more realistic.
I have yet to see the flea flicker work, in fact two of the times I has seen it ran the RB didnt even get the pitch back to the QB.
Shrine feature is pretty sweet, you can save 5 highlight from each game. I am not sure if there is a limit for the total highlights though, because I think I have a few more than 5 loaded already. I also seen some awesome auto pics too.
Campus legend is actually playable, but not really for the hardcore player. I went through the HS playoffs and won with a MLB and signed with Ohio St. even though I didnt do too much spectactular. The HS games were 4 minute quarters, suprisingly the super sim seemed to work decent with the quarter length but I didnt really pay a ton of attention to the results. This is something I might put more time into..... but not until quite a bit down the road.

It would make sense because the next gen has the extra attributes the current gen does not.

QB #3 85
QB #4 80
QB #16 72
QB #19 70
QB #12 68
WR #88 88
WR #1 87
WR #80 83
WR #17 83
WR #11 81
WR #89 80
WR #83 76
Thanks a bunch.
I really dislike the ratings though, as Straiten (1) is only really used a lot (and as a slot receiver at that) because he's kind of the average of Saint Preux (17) and Marvel (11), as he has decent hands and decent speed (should be about the same speed or slower than 88, about a 90 by my estimates), while Flair (80) has similar speed, much better hands and is probably the best at getting off the line and going up and getting the ball on the team. I'd have been happier if the team had been given two receivers in the mid-80s who could find holes in zones (as that's why 80 and 88 accounted for nearly half of our total offense) with decent hands and then the backups are mid-high 70s.

Well that confirms it, the Game is still using the 2004 or 05 Rosters for I-AA's
Someone else said that the Patriot League is in the game, that cant be right if they are not even creating the rosters... or is it.

I-AAs are not in the Next Gen games. And Patriot League is not in the Current Gen games.
I also checked yesterday afternoon for a UNI fan, and we both confirmed that the rosters have not been updated still.

What about penalties? Last year there were hardly any penalties called at all. I`m hoping this is more realistic this year.

Thanks everyone, it's ok, 1/2 the fun for me is doing the ENTIRE roster by number and moving them to the correct position and making all the players the right color/size/ablility. The only problem is it delay's my fun for about 3 hours to convert all the players to the right position and name everyone [down]
I'll expect alot from EA next year when they hopefully add I-AAs to the new system!

Ready for some pure speculation?
OK, here goes. Last year's game had the ability in one or two formations to bring a slot receiver in motion....and into the backfield. I don't remember which ones though. [down]
So, here's my thinking: looking at the video of the UF shovel pass we can see that there is a wide-out on the left side, a slot on the right and also a WR on the LoS out wide. We see the starting tail back to the left of the QB and the starting fullback to his right. So:
WR.............OT..OG..C..OG..OT.................. .........WR
.................................................. .....WR
........................HB..Q..FB
But, that doesn't mean that's the way the formation started out! My guess is that if this play is at all available in the game (and my gut says no, but what fun is that?) it will be from a different starting look. There are several formations that have 'H-back' looks that are prime candidates for this.
WR.............OT..OG..C..OG..OT.................. .........WR
...........................................FB..... .......WR
........................HB..Q
There are also some formations with packages that have the FB in the slot!
If its in the game, I'm gonna find it.

I hope recruiting has gotten tougher, last year it was far too easy to build a monster team unless you used a ton of points on discipline.

I procured the PS3 version of this game and so far I have to say, I'm not impressed unable to compare tot he XBox 360 version - but here's an issue list:
Depth Chart is fubared, when you want to select someone - the LOWEST rated players are at the top and you have to sort by rating to get the right player.
The UI is VERY unresponsive too - I haven't actually gotte into a game yet, but I'll have more on this tonight

when you substitute a player in Depth chart, it takes about 2 seconds for it to commit, in the mean time you get a blank depth chart

Ok, well I decided to play Hawaii vs Nebraska for my first game.
One thing that kind of disappoints me is that Nebraska is running a fair amount of option against me -- which you'd almost never see a WCO team do in real life.
I've thrown 3 picks so far and am getting killed 24-14 in the third.
One other thing that I noticed is that you can move guys on the KR unit before the ball is even kicked.

I don't like the new UI at all, part of it might be the unresponsiveness of it, the other part is that it isn't very user friendly - it takes 3 clicks to get to the top 25 for example.
recruiting takes alot of time, figure it will e 20-30 min each week

The flexbone offense isn't nearly as extensive as it is on CG. There are no WB runs.
