Thanks for the vids.

Not sure how I feel about the snow. The snow itself and the haze in the air makes it look cold, especially in post-play camera views. However, with nothing on the field visible and it all white it almost looks like there is no field. Like the players just are suspended in nothingness or if anything in a hockey rink. I think to have the field completely covered in snow they need to give it some texture, like have it get messed up, dirty and also show foot prints. The fact the sidelines are covered in snow now is nice to see.

Those undercut tackles are sick looking, as are the WR collisions in the air. I am pretty excited to get my hands on this game. I really am starting to think that this could be the year that football gaming takes a huge leap forward on the next-gen systems.

On the flea flicker, what defense was Arkansas in? The safety didn't seem to move towards the play, even when the ball was in the air and coming his way.

And yes, I let out a little gasp when I saw the shotgun option shovel pass. Hopefully it looks a little better than that did. Maybe it was just covered well.

the game looks really nice. i still havent had this question answered but im guessing there are no player entrances this year? also why do the defensive linemen have the wrong hand down?

Why do all of the buckeyes have so many spirit stickers?

And is it normal to have all the players wear long sleeves in the snow?

I am freakin stoked. The "In the Zone" thing looks like it might pose some problems, but I really like the new hit stick, being able to take someone's legs out or level a reciever across the middle.

Man am I glad I reserved my copy at EB Games yesterday.

the mid air collisions are awesome, and the tackling looks good as well. I wasn't that excited, but I'm starting to get that same feeling I usually do around this time of year.

Love the snow bowl vid, but wtf? Pick on the first play, sack on the next, delay of game on the next? Pathetic.

If you're this stoked, I'm sure I'm going to think I died and went to pigskin heaven. [cool]

One question, re: the "motivation blast" effect in the gameplay tutorial vid. In your experience playing the game, how often did that occur? Any chance it's something that can be turned off?

rhombic21

I hadn't seen it before that video, so I'm guessing that it's some sort of post-play camera effect that you only see in single player.

Fair enough. Is there any reason that the left tackle would have both sides of his helmet covered with them though?

Fair enough. Is there any reason that the left tackle would have both sides of his helmet covered with them though. No, none. Not even at the end of a real season would a lineman have both sides covered.

I'm wondering if, for teams with pride stickers (I believe that's the "official" name for all of them), that EA just gave them the maximum amount for exhibition games rather than pre-generated amounts like in current-gen. Not that there's a good answer either way, but I'd rather see a lot of stickers for exhibition games than some random amount they chose.

That's the word I was looking for. Looking at the other video one of the linebackers doesn't look like he has any, so maybe it is just a randomly generated number.

Not gamebreaking in any way but it's something that stood out when watching these videos.

That's the word I was looking for.No problem. I had to think for a while to come up with it too.

I agree that it seems strange in that vid. It seemed like some of them had a lot whereas others had none ... or maybe that was just the resolution of the video, I dunno. Either way it won't be gamebreaking, thankfully.

This pretty much sums it up for me too. To me it does kinda look like a huge hockey rink....so I guess I'm not real crazy about how the snow games look. Maybe this kind of falls under the heading of....classic EA over correcting. But who knows, maybe it'll be more to my liking when we have the game. But I gotta tell ya....this minor thing is really the only thing that I've seen so far that I haven't cared for. The game overall looks great, so I'm sure not going to let the snowy field thing throw me.

All these videos are really getting me pumped for the game. Besides the oustanding looking gameplay and the way the lineman actually BLOCK and PICK UP blitzers and things of that nature, I'm really liking how everything is flowing together so smoothly. Also, the player reactions are very nice as well, adds an extra realism dimension to the game, very nice stuff so far.

I wish stadium pulse would return though ... (though, maybe without effects? Just badass sounding crowd noise :) )

Living in the time of everyone owning or wanting surround-sound, I second the thought that we need some great crowd/stadium-noise in these next-gen games. From what I could tell with 08, it appears the same sound (crowd noise/chants) are being used that were in current-gen (read: monotone chants).

Yeah, the videos were all great, except for that one thing. I really hope there's a way to turn off that nuclear blast shock effect.

But, really, aside from that, everything else looks pretty nice. [cool]

The videos look really good. There was a glitch I saw in the third video, however.

At the 2:32 mark in the video, number 44 on Michigan is in a 3-point stance facing away from the line of scrimmage. What the heck is that all about???

Yeah, the snow thing is not a big deal. I won't let it ruin a great game. The game looks fantastic and I am sooo pumped about how this year's NCAA and Madden will work out. I have actually taken EA Sports off of my rent only list because I have faith in this year's next-gen football products.

I figured that since there was such heavy snow that maybe there is a variable like in past games(precip meter) where it can be light, medium or heavy snow. I would think this was just on the highest setting, and that you canalso have flurries and light snow.

Great point RH, and you may very well be right. I like the haze in the air that does a nice job of giving off the effect of it being cold, and for me just alittle bit less snow coverage and it'll look great.

Yeah, I watched it once and was like "wow, that guy sucks, he's not going towards the ball at all". That's when I realized it wasn't a human player using the safety.

I'm really really hoping this isn't a trend.

Like a lot of other people said the snow does look to be over done. If there are sliders to change the precipitation like in previous games that won't help you out in Dynasty games since you have no control over the weather.

Yeah, that's true, but I've rarely ever seen the most extreme snow conditions in dynasty. I'm hoping that the partnership with the Weather Channel will lead to more attention being paid to realistic weather i.e. not having rain in 60% of your dynasty games.

I am stoked to play this game. I keep thinking about getting to select the fullback and just leading through the hole to blow up a linebacker. I can't believe nobody else seems as excited as me about this feature. This is the first I had heard of it, though, so maybe I am just late to the party as usual.

It was in Madden 07. I played the PS3 version for a couple of days and while I played it, I loved using this feature... really cool to get out in front of your HB and be the guy that springs him free.

I felt that the feature on Madden 07 (XBOX 360) was a nice addition to the series. The implementation of the feature, however, could have been improved. I enjoyed controlling a good lead-blocking FB, but often times my halfback would not follow me. If I created a seal block one way or the other, the halfback would seldom re-act the way I would have had I been somehow able to control both the lead blocker and the ball carrier.

The slow-mo camera that kicked in when you switched back to the running back wasn’t that enjoyable either, but from the NCAA 2008 screenshots and movies I have seen that you will be able to toggle that affect on/off this year.

If they just improve the AI of the ball carrier a bit, or I just get faster at changing players, then I anticipate this being an excellent addition to this year’s game.
