Gamevideos shows us the walkthrough for Current Gen's Dynasty mode. Some of the highlights include Summer Training (training games), Lead By Example, Recruit requirements, Medical Redshirts, & new recruiting tactics. Looks like current gen wasn't left out as far as upgrades are concerned.

So much to the thought of NCAA 08 being just a repackaged NCAA 07.

Freaking cool!!!

Just wondering....where does it say this is current gen? The game showed was an X-box game given the control buttons and I assume it will be the same for PS2. Just wasn't sure where it stated it was current gen.

I more or less assumed it based on the player models and the recruiting interface.

That's what I was thinking as well. Just wanting to be sure so I am not overly disappointed.

I hope medical redshirts are in the next-gen versions, too.

Yeah, I went off the Xbox black & white buttons as well as the player & coach models.

Very nice. I didn't think we'd get a sliver of some of those improvements. Too bad it appears no true coach mode is in the game, with all of the emphasis on user plays in dynasty.

Just wondering....where does it say this is current gen?I think it's obvious from the overall interface. That's not the same interface we're seeing in the screens and vids for next-gen. I'm putting this one on 99% current-gen.

EDIT: Man, if these aren't in next-gen ... it's going to be a lot harder for me to just buy PS3. I might have to buy both.

I just died a little bit inside that they didn't fix in-season recruiting where you don't know the interest of the recruits before the season.

Everythng else looks ok.

is the top25 scrolling at the bottom this years? looks like it to me with
USC 1 and michigan 2.

I just died a little bit inside that they didn't fix in-season recruiting where you don't know the interest of the recruits before the season. Personally, I never really had a problem with this. Especially because you're automatically in the player's Top 8 in-season.

Summer training looks alright.

On the 'Coaching' menu, it shows Player promises. That looks like a slightly toned-down version of next-gen's recruiting promises.

That 'My Skills' seems a bit useless. I can go to my roster and see my best players, and I can look at his ratings to see his grades. [rock]

The recruiting looks good though. It doesn't look as good as next-gen, but it seems like once again, a toned-down version. It looks like the 'smaller brother' to next-gen's recruiting system, IMO.

The medical redshirts will help me, for usually Pat White always gets injured in his senior season in all my dynasties. [laugh]

I was expecting to be disappointed by the current-gen game this year, with all of the gameplay hype to next-gen. I was expecting to have to buy a PS3. But I think I can hold off long enough till Christmas. [laugh]

That 'My Skills' seems a bit useless. I can go to my roster and see my best players, and I can look at his ratings to see his grades. [rock] The My Skills doesn't have anything to do with ratings, I don't believe. The first screen, Leader Board, shows your team's top players in terms of leadership (Lead-By-Example feature). The second screen, Report Card, gives you, the player, a grade based on your performance. I.e., if you make the majority of your team's defensive tackles yourself, you'll get a high grade on tackling. But if you let the computer do it, you'll get a low grade. User input is a heavy part of the Lead-By-Example feature, so if you're wondering why your defense isn't as fired up, and your defensive grades are low ... there you go.

So the motivation goes down if the user doesn't make plays? That doesn't bode well for coach mode.

JeffHCross

I don't think it'll go down, but it probably won't go up as fast. That's my understanding at least.

Yeah, it certainly doesn't bode well for coach moders.

I just dropped the $600 today on a PS3, so the next gen better have this $hit.

As a coach mode player, I am starting to have a very bad feeling about this year's game. I like the new depth but it seems completely focused on stick skills instead of simulation. Unless done properly (and we all know EA's track record) I could see the summer drills being exploited to create unstoppable superstars from very average recruits. I am not convinced either way, but I do have some serious concerns for myself and the other coach mode players.

There's other videos that look like they were uploaded today as well.

I started watching the one about recruiting and I had to pause it and come post this message. You can search the recruit database now. Holy shit. I cannot wait for this game.

14 different recruiting pitches to choose from!!!! [wow]

You can now lie(promise PT) to recruits! I can't wait to screw up my team by promising PT to all sorts of kids each year, only to have them transfer. [laugh]

Luckly this is about to change but....I've followed the marketing and flow of info very closely on Madden and Ncaa [as many have] and I've found the focus to be quite different. Seems to me anyway, that 95% of the marketing and info on Madden has been about onething....the gameplay....period. Where as with Ncaa the focus has been to this point, on the features...and or features that effect the gameplay, but not really even one word about the gameplay itself. There may not be anything to that....but just kinda strikes me as odd the different approches.

I guess I'm just a worrywart, but it seems like EA has got the message [with Madden] on what matters most....how the game plays, and they've been hammering away about how they've listened to the "Users" on gameplay issues, vs dead silent towards Ncaa's gameplay issues. Again...this may mean nothing, but it does kinda worry me that Ncaa's info has been about everything but the most important aspect of the game. Thankfully we'll get the straight poop from our guys from Utopia, and we'll know soon if the gameplay got the same attention that the features have gotten.[smile]

Seriously though CFR, you're gonna give yourself a heart attack if you keep worrying about NCAA like this. We'll all find out in a month, and Rhombic and cdj will let us know soon enough.

I could care less if the drills are in, I think they're a cheap-ass way of boosting ratings. But, damn, I hope the medical redshirts make it to next gen.

I'm not worried sick about the game Jeff....in fact I feel quite up beat about the resent news we've been getting. I just thought it was odd how the two games were being marketed so differently. I admit my passion for the game sometimes spills over the line a ways....but thats just me....being me. I just gotta have a great playing Ncaa game this year, I'm a college football nut case...I can't help it.:p :)

but the good thing is that it is likely optional. They have this same feature in Madden. You can either do all the drills or not do any or pick and choose which ones you'd like to do. It won't hurt dynasty mode a bit for those that don't like it, simply because you don't have to use it. For those that enjoy it, have fun. I like having the option.

I like the new interface they have for this year. I am tired of the dark backgrounds that have plagued NCAA since 05 or so. It is nice to see some brightness in my life. Lookin sharp, EA.
