Wowza! Great update!
EDIT: Possible bad sign for those concerned with bowl endzones ... just the logos in the endzones on the Sugar Bowl picture. Of course, I don't know what current gen does when you're previewing the stadium (which I think all of these pictures are taken from).

I noticed it wasn't the indoor barn but was wondering if Idaho had begun construction on a new stadium or something... or is that stadium just a plain generic stadium?
Good to see the entire SunBelt made the game. I'm assuming essentially everyone's stadium is in the game, although with Idaho not being accurate I may have missed some.

That was just a generic stadium for Idaho. If you go through all the screens, you'll notice a lot of teams have that stadium, and even a few bowl games, which is a little disappointing. I'm also disappointed that the Cotton Bowl isn't in there, nor is the Alamodome.

Nevermind the fact that it's not even in the Cotton Bowl. EA screwed that stadium up so badly in the PS2/XBox generation that I was looking forward to it being redone on the next gen consoles, but 2 years in and they haven't done it. They could at least split the crowd 50/50, but I doubt they'll do that.

I am really impressed by their Bronco Stadium. They took the time to add the little "best seat in the house" house that a local Builder sponsors at the games (lower right). They even have Taco Bell Arena along with other buildings in the background. Only small flaw is that they have the old press box.

I think that there is a lot of advertising around the godzillatron (they have to pay for it somehow I guess).
One thing that would've been neat is for them to move up the horseshoe end because DKR is undergoing construction right now to move those stands up right close to the field and to have an upper deck on that side. They'll have the lower deck (which basically is just shifting the horseshoe in 40 feet) completed by the upcoming football season and then the upperdeck will be put on for the '08 season.

Yeah, even that dump over at UH made it in. ;)
The generic one they have is actually pretty close to the real thing in Rice's case, but the shape of the wall around the field and the tunnel locations are wrong, and we don't get the beautiful downtown H-town skyline in the background like we should.

IIRC, they travelled to all these stadiums two years ago, so I think that's why some are outdated.
To me, it seemed like on current-gen EA could rely on photos and blueprints to get in the game, but I question if the same can be done on next-gen. If it takes detailed photos to get stadiums updated on next-gen, is it possible for all the stadiums to ever be correct (or close to it)?

I would prefer they go back to crisp graphical logos like the old gen, personally.
I had a slight feeling they were.

Why didn't they finish off all of the power conferences before almost completing the Sun-Belt conference?Well, in the case of Washington State, it could be due to the on-going renovations.
In the cases of Duke and Northwestern, it could be as simple as not being able to get a deal with the schools regarding licensing or something else that upheld it.
It's not always (in fact, often not) up to EA. It's about half EA and half the schools, especially when we're talking about adding stadiums brand new to the game. That's what's hampered MVP the last two years, not only do they have to get the information from the schools regarding the stadiums themselves but they also have to get the rights to make it. The information is the harder of the two to come by, sometimes.

The problem with this theory is that Duke and NW's stadiums are included in the current gen versions of the game. That would seem to indicate that it's not a licensing issue.
Here's my theory-there are more SBC alums than there are Duke/NW grads on the NCAA Football development team. [cool]

A thing I noticed is it appears EA thinks every single fan wears team colors all though the stadium. Maybe I missed it, but I don't see visiting fan sections, which are smaller or larger in some stadiums depending on the venue and the team doing the traveling.
Does anyone have a list of the stadiums NOT in the game? I'm going to be picking my dynasty based on which stadiums are in and not in the game. I don't want to play in a conference with a bunch of generic barns and I certainly don't want one for my home field.

I highly doubt that. If you strike a deal with the NCAA to use images, logos, etc., you don't have to strike deals with each of the individual schools. Like someone else said, all of these stadiums were in current gen. For the life of me, I can't see how they couldn't get them all in with another year to do it. Like someone else said, all of these stadiums were in current gen.Yeah, that was my mistake. I was remembering the days before the NCAA-exclusive license. I know that the reason we had so few I-AA teams back in the day was because they had to come to agreements with the individual schools, NCAA agreement be damned. That's why one year we had the MEAC, I believe it was, without Norfolk State. The reasons for not having stadiums is probably something else, but I know there is some reality behind the licensing problem.

By my count they have added 43 school specific stadiums to NCAA 08, bringing the the total to 99 of a possible 120 Div I teams. That's a pretty solid % for year two of the franchise, especially when you consider how much more work is involved (each next-gen stadium contains ten times more polygons than it's current-gen counterpart).
Look at it this way-you're getting 77% more stadiums this year, plus vastly improved gameplay, for the same price you paid last year. What's not to like?

And even then they still missed a lot of significant details in stadiums and would be a year behind in adding stadium updates to their models. I.E. - they didnt have UT's new godzillatron or TAMU's new graphic boards on the facade of every deck even though all of those things were in place at the stadiums long before they finalized the games. EA's doing a much better job with NG stadiums.

I'm not going to lie. I'm hard on EA, real hard, and they deserve it. If you have a virtual monopoly on a product it better be top notch. There is a time and place for everything and for EA right now, it's being pushed hard by fans. Anybody remember Head Coach 2007 or whatever it was called. Piece-Of-Shit.
Every year we are promised to receive some cheap shot in one of there products. I can't remember how many faulty NCAA disks over the years I've had to return. It's not that I don't want to like what they do, I hope they have major fucking success, but as long as I am a consumer of their monopolized products they will have to put up with me and my jerk off complaints. I agree with this part. Head Coach, sadly, was a POS. That series could have been incredible if they had put, say, another year into it before release. Too bad. But as for NCAA, first no one is forcing any of us to buy it. Second, if you feel full price is unfair, buy it used or wait 6 months for a price drop. I have played every version of this series and have gotten some level of satisfaction from all of them except maybe 06. EA has reached out to our community like never before and I think they deserve alot of credit for that.
Mr. X
07-06-2007, 01:24 PM
But as for NCAA, first no one is forcing any of us to buy it.
Yes, yes, heard it before but that's not really the point now is it? The price point is not my concern, buying a quasi-completed product, in terms of particular content is. I like where (finally for next-gen) the series is going. I've bought every incarnation since it's inception etc, too. I'm still perplexed that some fans will take certain aspects of the game on the chin in the name of "progress". I accept revolving improvements and features yearly, better A.I., improved playbooks, interesting tweaks to the recruiting, etc, but the stadiums is one aspect I expect near completion on day 1. EA excels at implementing a useless feature in place of standard content every year.
My point is every year we pay the same and get less to some extent, in the name of the almighty dollar. Multiple variations on uniforms for example: why after 5 years should I have to get an an XBOX account to buy something that's been in the game for the last 5 years? Why would EA implement something like that or the Campus Legend mode but lazily finish stadiums up by year 3. No other reason than sales, maybe?
I love the game, can't stop playing it, even in it's worse incarnations, but I'll be damned if I'm going to just sit by while EA takes my money sans criticism. Think of it as a mini wish list of sorts steelerfan. I bet you wouldn't stop watching the steelers even if they sucked and I know steelers fans wouldn't stop buying tickets or kept there mouth shut if the team was sucking ass. Just because you love something doesn't mean you have to love every square inch of it's warts now do you?
Good post. You make a valid point that EA has traditionally been good at implementing "fluff" features, yet hasn't done something as rudimentary as getting all of the stadiums in the game. While that issue doesn't bother me as much as it does you, the underlying theme is cause for concern. Especially when you point out the fact that we now have to pay for things that we used to get for free.

I think that there is a lot of advertising around the godzillatron (they have to pay for it somehow I guess).
One thing that would've been neat is for them to move up the horseshoe end because DKR is undergoing construction right now to move those stands up right close to the field and to have an upper deck on that side. They'll have the lower deck (which basically is just shifting the horseshoe in 40 feet) completed by the upcoming football season and then the upperdeck will be put on for the '08 season.
so what would be the stadium capacity after the construction? i wish it would be 100,000+.
I'm glad they added Reser this year since they have remodeled it.
