LIONS GRAB A NEW OWNER

http://www.hollandsentinel.com/images/072603/lions.jpg

Lions GM waves bye-bye to the hometwon Detroit after the 2003-2004 season.

The Lions made another outstanding move, as they released President Matt Milen today after a dismal first year. He seemed un-happy with the results and could not be reached for a comment, but seemed to call the entire organization "gay and retarted." The Lions finished just 1 game above .500 and hadn't seemed to be going anwhere in the near future.

Mr. Ford thought it would be for the best if they just released Millen at the end of the season so that the new President could get to know the team for the up and coming draft.

LIONS PRESIDENT GETS TO WORK QUICKLY!

Lions name Steve Dostie new CEO of the Detroit Lions corporation almost 24 hours after letting go Matt Millen. Mr. Dostie seemed to be ehtusiastic about the new proposal calling it a diamond in the rough. And it seems like he will waste no time in wheeling and dealing.

LIONS MAKE QUICK MOVES

http://homepages.wmich.edu/~m1behnke/images/luther.jpg

New Lions owner, Steve Dostie, made his first radical moves as he dumped both Luther Ellis and Robert Porcher off to the Cowboys in exchange for the #3 pick in the 1st and 2nd round. Porcher and Ellis will be missed dearly, and their presence will be felt dearly in the middle of the line. Yet, Cory Redding, Sean Rodgers, and Kalimba Edwards look to be a definite foudation for the new line. By trading the two Linemen, the Lions quickly open up cap room and get younger with the draft picks.

The Lions were looking forward to a great off-season as they looked to make many strides towards greatness in Stephen Dostie's first NFL draft. The Lions biggest needs were on the defensive side of the ball and that is what Stephen went with the first few picks in the draft. Here is a recap of the moves the MR. Dostie was able to sweep up in the 2004 Draft.

Greg Jones- RB FLORIDA STATE

http://sportserver.nandomedia.com/ips_rich_content/565-noleswin.jpg

Strengths-This man is a tank with legs. Plows over everyone and everything in his path. Pure muscle. Should be able to quickly make an impact on the team

Weaknesses- Not has quick or elusive as some of the other backs, but has shown that he is trying to improve that aspect of the game.

Derrick Strait- CB OKLAHOMA

http://www.houstonprofootball.com/draft/prospects/images/PICTURE_dstrait.gif

Strengths- Probably the best shut down corner coming out of the draft. Very athletic and hard hitting. Will quickly improve the secondary of this needy Lions team.

Weaknesses- Not used to losing.

Keiwan Ratliff- CB FLORIDA

http://www.nationalchamps.net/2003/sub/pics/keiwan_ratliff_sm.jpg

Strengths- Hard hitting. Knows how to play the game of football very intelligent. Lions drastictally improved their secondary with these two picks. Now they have Bly, Strait, and Ratliff on defense. Secondary looking pretty scary.

Weaknesses- Again coming from a very prestigious program. Not used to losing

Karlos Dansby- LB AUBURN

http://www.houstonprofootball.com/draft/prospects/images/PICTURE_kdensby.gif

Strengths- Steal in the 4th round. Outstanding speed

Weaknesses- Needs to improve strength

-These were most notable draft picks-

The Lions improved their secondary a ton. Picking up two of the best corners in the draft. They also signed Dexter Reid from UNC and Maurice Sikes from Miami Florida to further their secondary. What used to be the greatest weakness of the Lions has quickly turned to their greatest strength.

ANOTHER TRANSACTION

Lions owner seemed somehow displease with his 2004 draft and decided to make another quick change as he quickly dealt off a 1st round draft pick in return for Roy Williams and a 2nd round draft pick from the Texans. An awesome move for the Lions as the Lions now have a credible #1 and #2 wide receiver. Roy Williams was the #4 pick in the 2004 draft.

Booyah.

I don't know about your earlier deal (I have had success with dealing James Stewart to the Cowboys), I would have just traded one. I ended up trading Dan Wilkerson in my dynasty (I added him to my roster).

Great draft, though, and good moves. Finally, a lions dynasty. Don't let me down and quit.

Also nice idea about getting rid of James Stewart I think I might do that too.

LIONS START SEASON WITH THE VIKINGS

http://www.startribune.com/stonline/images/news91/23vike1230.l.jpg

Everyone was looking forward to the debut of the NFL season, but after the game it was obivious the Lions were a different team. The Lions dismantled the Vikings 70-21. They looked like a different team from years past. With Keiwan Ratliff, Derrick Strait and Dre' Bly all in the secondary it could be seen that the Lions defense is young, but talented. Derrick Strait capped his debut with 2 int's. It was definitely an awesome event for any Lions hopeful.

LIONS VIKINGS

SCORE: 70 21

Total Offense: 539 yds 250 yds

Rushing Yards: 213 yds 186 yds

1st Downs: 24 7

Turnovers: 1 4

Two Lions quaterbacks were hurt as all three of the QB's saw action. McMahon was the one who saw the most and led the Lions to a very productive day.

McMahon: 16-25 242 yards 4 TDs

Harrington: 5-8 65 yards

Banks: 1-1 36 yards

http://www.sptimes.com/2003/09/28/photos/sp-fsu.jpg

Greg Jones also displayed a show as he plowed through anyone and everything in his path.

Jones: 47 atts 199 yards 5 TDs

KEY STATS: 7 SACKS and 3 INTS

THE LIONS MANE
http://www.treksf.com/steve/rooks.jpg
No doubt all these rooks have contributed
to the drastic turn around of this Lions
franchise!

Harrington is exhausted after a huge day!

Green Bay v. Detroit Lions

56- 35 W

The Lions proved they could win big games as they
showed up and shocked the defending NFC champs.
Greg Jones and Harrington both had solid days at the
ball-park and the Lions and their fans really were
starting to believe in the new look Lions unlike years past.

(Pre-sliders should of been a lot closer)

http://www.centralohio.com/ohiostate/football/season2002/opponents/art/receivers.jpg
Lee Evans has the biggest day of his young NFL career aganist a young Lions team!

New York v. Detroit Lions

40-58 L

The Lions showed up... I mean no they didn't.
The Lions did not show up until it was too late.
They proved that though they are talented they
still are inexperienced. Their new and improved
secondary showed their youth as they let Lee Evans
blow by them for more than 200+ yards receiving
along with a punt return for a TD. About the only
one on defense that actually showed up was
Derrick Strait as he continued his interception
streak with another. Harrington struggled as the
Lions lost their first one of the season as they
headed back to Detroit in hopes for a better result.

http://www.kstatecollegian.com/images/090803/roberson.jpg
Roberson was in dismay as he watches his second INT be returned for a TD by Boss Bailey!

Chicago v. Detroit Lions

35-14 W

The Lions were absolutely estatic about playing on their
home turf for the season home-opener. Detroit fans got
their first glimpses at the future of Detroit football. It
was very obivious Detroit fans were absolutely hungary
for wins as the first home game grossed over 15 million
dollars worth of capital! Detroit revamped defense also
came to play aganist another explosive rookie in Ell Roberson.
Roberson looked sharp early on, but ended up throwing
only one TD and 3 INTS.

Joey Harrington- 23-33 297 yards 2 TDS

Harrington had a huge day on his home turf.
Detroit fans were thrilled for Joey as the first
3 season had been nothing but rough on the poor kid.

Greg Jones- 39 atts 125 yards 2 TDS

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid77/pa70e8fc974e195bfb84f1c935364bea7/fb3a9a86.gif

Jones basically put on the show for the fans of
Detroit as he ran over every Bears defensive specialist
out there. Detroit showed their love when Jones
demolished Brian Urlacher on one of the first plays
of the game. Some say it looked like the Jones hit
on Dexter Reid last year.

Roy Williams- 9 rec 122 yards 1 TD

Charles Rogers- 5 rec 113 yards 1 TD

Can you say best one two combo in the NFL??

Derrick Strait- 3 T 1 INT

Boss Baily- 1 INT 1 Def TD 2 T

Strait really is a gamer as he now has 4 Int's
on the year to lead everyone in the NFL and
he is only a rookiee! Boss looked sharp as usual
as he picked off a horrific pass by Roberson
as he returned it for 6!

Stats Through 4 Games

Joey Harrington: 75-110 1,123 yards 10 TDS 3 INTS

Leads all passers in NFL

Greg Jones: 162 atts 640 yards 11 TDS 3.9 avg

Leads all rushers in the NFL

Roy Williams: 29 rec 505 yards 7 TDS

Charles Rogers: 27 rec 525 yards 5 TDS

#1 and #2 in the NFL

Derrick Strait: 13 T 4 INTS

Leads NFl in INTS

K, just wondering. Madden always seems to have a little two high scoring games. They might need to change that, w/o increasing turnovers.

Ya I know man- actually I changed down the time to 6-7 mins non-accelarated- it works pretty well- acurate amount of plays.. Anyone else reading this?
