Build a Program Mode
I will be honest; Dynasty mode can get down right boring for me. I love to take cupcakes and make them power houses but eventually I get bored at the top. I feel no real incentive once I make it to the top so I thought of ways that could take the Dynasty mode to the next level. The Build A Program Mode. I like to think of the things that coaches like Bill Snyder, Pat Hill and Frank Beamer did for their schools. In the time that Beamer has been at Virginia Tech he has seen massive changes and upgrades in the stadium and facility because of his success. These coaches didn’t have to skip from team to team to some Major program to be successful (Urban Myer[suspect] ). They proudly have built their programs from the ground up. These are important things that are lost in the current dynasty modes.
Also I feel there is no sense of pride in building a team to the top. Prestige does not come in one season or one game. It is build with through many different venues such, exposure, conferences, televised games, facilities, stadium, winning record, rivalries, bowls, Traditions, and recruiting. That’s why I think a mode like the Build A Program would do so much more to the dynasty mode by gaining prestige through just not a simple win/loss record but quality, hard earned achievements and wins. I think a bonus should be applied to each met goal and accomplishment.
Below I have listed an outline for what I think would make a good, long lasting mode and rewarding game. I have mixed some of the NFL Head Coach aspects with a bit of the Madden Create-a-Team Stadium Builder with some staple things from the current NCAA series. I envision a constantly changing Stadium as a reminder of where you are in prestige. The higher the prestige, the bigger and better the stadium. Also a move through the difference conferences ala TCU. I think the prestige system should be based on a culmination of point’s one program and receive. A combination of wins, facility and stadium improvements, rivalry games, national exposure (regardless of game outcome), and conference invites and bowl games. I think in each era you can gain a set amount of prestige points before the next leap forward. I think there should be a range so you can hit a minimum of points and move on or you can get all points and goals for each era and move to the next with a little bit of a head start.
I think the one thing that should always be remembered, with every success you should be one step closer and with every few failures one step back. I think it should be a fair and rewarding, but not harsh, journey. Rivalry games should be worth more points to your overall total than regular games. Everything should have some meaning, some reward, and unlike the NFL, there is no throw away games in college football.
