Welcome Everyone,
I am playing as Chicago State with ESPN College Hoops, I just finished my first season going 30 & 5. We won our conference tournament and won two games in the NCAA Tournament. We beat Auburn on a last second 3 point shot in the 2nd round. Then we lost to UCONN 54-41 in our Sweet Sixteen Game. I played the first season on the starter level and moved up to All-Conference for this season. I finished recruiting, filled some holes but nothing fantastic. We brought in 6 freshmen (2 that will red shirt). Our best recruit was 3 star center Charles Stephens.
Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy!

We are a more talented team than we were last season, we have two 7 footers to clog the middle. We are very deep with 6 guards on the active roster, we will play a lot of 3 guard offense this season.

Chicago State's Starting Lineup
Point Guard - Jason Holt, he will provide senior leadership and poise on the court, he will be able to get us into our sets on offense and lead our preasure defense.
Shooting Guard - Lewis Mills, his natural position and will also provide senior support to Jason. Lewis should score 20 points a game for us this season.
Small Forward - Will Higgins, his natual spot is the point, but we need to get Will on the court as he is one of our better players. Only a sophomore, will take over point duties for Jason after this season.
Power Forward - Taliek Jackson, is a junior college transfer that comes to our team this season although he is only 6'5" he will hold him own in our conference. Against smaller teams Scott Simpson will play also, and Rob Lowe will play against bigger opponents.
Center - Charles Stephens although only a freshmen at 7'2" he will cause a lot of problems in the post for teams.

Chicago State @ Michigan
Sunday November 7th 2004
This one turned ugly real quick, for the first game of the season Michigan was just too tough for us. We don't have the same talent we did last season with moving up the difficulty level and playing a Big 10 school on the road is just asking for trouble.
We stayed close during the 1st half and were only trailing by 2 at 10-8; 5 minutes into the game. But Michigan finished the half on a 17-2 run, to take a 27-10 lead into halftime.
During the 2nd half we tried to press and force the tempo of the game but just game up too many easy baskets and dunks. We were not able to hit any outside shots and our star freshmen center Charles missed 3 dunks during the game. Michigan continued to pull away during the 2nd half.
Final Score Chicago State 41 - Michigan 74
On Tuesday we play Alabama A&M @ home
On Thurday we travel to Florida State

Chicago, IL.
Today the Chicago State Cougers hosted the Bulldogs from Alabama A&M. This was a classic early season battle. Chicago State played really well during the first half and took a 31- 28 lead into halftime. They did have some foul trouble that would come back to haunt them later in the game. During the start of the second half both teams traded baskets. Alabama A&M took the lead with 4:45 to play; they went on a 16-2 run, to take a 9 point lead with 3 minutes remaining. Jason Holt fouled out for Chicago State and really sparked the Bulldog run as we were not able to handle their full court pressure. Three backcourt violations resulted. Chicago State started to foul to get as many opportunities as possible and sank a 3 pointer with 42 seconds left to cut the lead to 4 at 62-58. Down the stretch though Alabama made 12 out 16 free throws to ice the game.
Final Score Alabama A&M 66 - Chicago State 60
It was exciting to be in a close game down the stretch, but we made too many mistakes to pull off the victory.
Next Game:
Thursday @ Florida State
We need to avoid the 0 & 3 start with a victory against the Seminoles.

Chicago State Cougars at Florida State Seminoles
This was a great game as neither team had more than a 5 point lead all night. The Cougars used a variety of different lineups included playing both 7 footers together at the same time. Chicago State used an early start to take a 12-7 lead and held a 30-26 lead at half time. The pace slowed down even more during the second half. Because of foul trouble with Taliek Jackson Chicago State had to play both Charles Stephens and Rob Lowe together and they combined for 9 blocks on the night. The Cougars from Chicago State we able to hold on to a 50 - 45 win, for their 1st victory of the season!
Final Score
Chicago State 50
Florida State 45
Freshman Charles Stephens played 14 minutes, scored 12 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to earn player of the game honors!
Chicago State 1-2
