Seriously, am I the only one who is getting called for PI when there's zero contact?

The blatent slow DB getting in the way of my WR doesn't ever get called, and I see some ticky tacky plays get called. Its pretty annoying.

This is fucking lame. ZERO contact at all and I get called for PI on two INTs.

is this online or against the CPU?

i've noticed playing the CPU, if you use a lesser defensive team (B-, C+, C, etc) and you get a couple big plays against you, your DBs get a little grabby.

Online.

I think I know what you mean...I had one offline, WR wasn't looking back, i stepped up and picked it off. Got PI call. So I checked the replay and I brushed the WR slightly (I mean slightly) when stepping up. Its one of those "based on video game code" PI calls, but wouldn't get called in real life situations.

Now if you mean no one is closer than 2 yards, thats bad [down] Then it could be the collision detection, like the obvious bad one where the sack animation occurs and the defender is like 1-2 yards away and manages to get the sack.

Can you lower the PI penalties (offline) because I've been getting called with this a lot too

Yes, you can. I haven't tried it yet, but I hope it's effective because I've been called for a truckload of pass intereference penalties. Oddly enough, like Seandigs said, when a slow DB is blatantly blocking my WR's path to the ball, nothing gets called.

I had my RB running to the flats, so I threw a pass to him, but before the ball even got close to him, he was tackled from behind. No Call. I thought that probably was deserving of PI.

Out of curiosity, has anyone done any sort of statistical analysis of PI calls in real-life games vs the video game? ie, how many PI calls are made during the course of a real footb all game on average vs what you guys are seeing?

It is possible that it is sticking out like a sore thumb now because of the relative rarity of it in previous versions. I can think of only a handful of PI calls against me in the hundreds of previous version games I have played.

(and in fact, same goes for PI calls against my opponents in years past)

Was he behind the LoS? I think you can mug the hell out of anyone behing the LoS without a PI call.

And I'm pretty sure you can chuck guys (not tackle) five yards beyond the LoS (thus bump and run).

I kind of had a wierd offensive pass interference called against me. I was playing the bowling mini game, and I was about to take off with Henne, but I accendently hit to throw the ball, and he released it past the line of scrimmage. Well, Breaston turned around while the ball was in the air, and chop blocked the corner behind him, and I got a offensive pass interference call. But the commentators were saying that I just gave up a safety.

In the NFL you can bump but can not hold him up and when the ball is released you cannot make contact with him in any way. However NCAA rules have been known to be different. As of yet I haven't found proof of whether or not this is legal in college.

I got a freaking pass interference called on my player controlled DT! He was at the line of scrimmage and the pass was 10 yards deep to mid field. Needless to say, my jaw dropped at that.

3rd downs it seems like I get plenty of PI calls online when the pass was defended accurately.

he was, but the tackle was so blatant, that I thought there was going to be a call. There probably would be in real life, because that went way past bump and run IMO.

I'm pretty sure that behind the LoS the defense can tackle an elligible receiver all they want. Sort of a fair compensation for screen passes.

This is how a lot of "straight" players play pass defense online, and it pisses me off to NO end. [evil] [evil] [evil] [evil] [evil] It's fucking straight up PI. You can basically hammer a receiver and no PI is called.

I have seen PI 3 times online. All 3 times the ball was basically totally uncatchable. Twice it was way over the receiver's head, and another time the QB got hit as the PI was committed, so the ball never even made it to him.

You can't tackle an offensive player without the ball at any time. That would constitute defensive holding. You may push him (to the ground if you want to) and impede his progress, but you are not allowed to wrap up and tackle.
