I'm trying to determine whether to buy the current gen or next gen NCAA 2007. Since I play coach mode exclusivley any answers would be much appreciated.
I need someone with the 360 version to check on both Coach mode and CPU vs. CPU.
The two things that I have heard so far are that...
1. When the ball is hiked the QB will not automatically throw it.
2. When starting a game one of the teams has to be Human controlled.
Possible solutions I'd like to see investigated are...
1. In controller settings there seems to be a setting for auto drop back. Someone with the PS2 version mentioned they had to change this setting to get the QB to throw the ball once hiked. Would like to see if this is also true in 360.
2. Would like to see if after the game is started, after the coin toss, if you can't go back into settings and set the human controlled team back to CPU. Will 360 version let you do this?
This will give us definitive answers regarding coach mode and CPU vs. CPU in 360 version.
THANKS!

Dunno bout CPU vs CPU, but you definitely won't be passing coach mode on 360.

I don't know quite what this means. Can you explain?

You snap the ball on a pass play and the QB just stands there.
No passing if you are a coach moder. I didn't bother to try a run play after that, though I think it works fine, though not sure if they will pitch on an option.

That's nauseating.

Now, I heard mention of an auto-pass option...but I'll be damned if I can find it.

Fluff,
According to some other threads I've seen the auto pass or auto drop back option is configurable in the controller settings.
Can you take a look into that and see if there is an option in controller settings on 360 and if it fixes it?
Thanks!

That's what I'm saying...I didn't find any such thing when I looked.
Also didn't find anything about vision cone.
Very, very poor documentation effort on teh part of EA.

Wait so on the 360 it's not likely that you can pass on coach mode? This isn't a problem with the current gen, is it?

I haven't heard that it is, and some Coach Moders have played the game. Inability to pass would stand out like a Coug at a Rose Bowl.

In the stands or on the field?

I've gotten confirmation that there aren't any issues with coach mode on current gen.
Between the playbooks being better on current gen and the coach mode issue I'm not even going to get the next gen version.
Looks like EA focused strictly on aesthetics.

When you are in game, pause and check to see if there is an option for controller layout. It isn't controller settings, but "control layout." If you see it, then just look at the bottom left corner. The 360 version might not have it.

I'm 99% certain that there was an auto-pass feature that you can enable on the 360 version. I can't remember who mentioned it, but the poster did say that Coach Mode worked fine after he turned it on.

I'd like to get confirmation of this. I was almost gonna get this game for the 360 but if there's no playable coach mode, forget it!

well I guess I'll wait for you guys to test it this week. Hopefully ya'll can find a way to make CM work on the 360. I just don't want to spend close to $500 to find out.

If anybody can confirm the 360 allows for the CPU to run your plays (the human player I mean) - passing and running - once the ball is hiked, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Kevin

Yes, I'd like a verdict on this ASAP please. Is there a playable coach mode on the 360 or not?

I will look around again tonight. But I searched for a while and never saw any auto-pass stuff, so don't get your hopes up.

Man that is retarded. Theres no option for Cpu vs Cpu on the 360. I always start off with practice mode, then watch a game to take in the atmosphere, then play a game.

I've looked through the controller setups, but sadly can't find anything regarding an auto-pass feature.
I'm not giving up just yet, but it looks like I'll have to relearn stick mode. Oh well.

Jack,
Did you look under "Controller Layout"?

Jack,
Did you look under "Controller Layout"?
I'm not certain whether or not I've seen 'Controller Layout'. I've looked through a controller setup screen multiple times and haven't found any sort of mention of an auto-pass feature.
In the meantime, I practiced my rusty passing skills in practice and then went and played as Wisconsin against Michigan State, wherein I promptly went 7 of 24 for 47 yards. [evil]
I thought getting back into the stick mode groove would be easy. How wrong I was. It seems like every play, no matter how open my guy is, there's a defender to bat it away or pick it off. And just when I think I'm getting the hang of it, BAM! another pick.
Seriously, the lack of coach mode is making me consider going and getting a PS2 version of the game. I've got enough stress in my life without trying to complete a damn pass.

The Church will always be there for you, Brother Jack.:) At any rate, until next-gen becomes the only gen, at which point in time we may be screwed like a cheap prostitute. However, I doubt they would let the next go-round loose without a workable way to play in Coach Mode.

Thank you, Father gohuskies. :) Your kind words bring calmness back to me.
In the meantime, I will continue my goal, as a missionary of the Church of Coach Mode, to preach the virtues of the one true way to my XBox 360 in hopes that it too will see the light and will allow to play Coach Mode in next gen.
Yes, perhaps it is a futile mission, but it's one I must attempt, for the good of the Church! ;)

Well with no coach mode it looks like there's no reason for me to buy a 360, not right now at least.

Gentleman, I fooled around with NCAA 360 at an EB earlier today. I looked at every single menu option (in game and at the main menu). I can now say with confidence that there's not auto pass feature in the 360.
I guess we'll have to stick with current gen for 07. It sucks because NCAA 360 is simply beautiful.

My thoughts exactly. I haven't played this game since '03 so I'm debating a PS2/Xbox as long as they have a workable coach mode. I read in another post that the Xbox works fine, not sure about a PS2. I'll have to start reading up on which one is better.

The 360 is quite balanced compared to current gen and is indeed beautiful. My only qualm is that the cpu won't pass the ball for you while in "coach mode". I wish there was some way to rectify the situation, too.[evil]
Looks like I'm going to hafta pick up current gen on Thursday when I get my next paycheck. =( (I'd rather spend the money elsewhere, but CM is a necessity!) :D

Brethren, please gather for a memorial service to mourn our stillborn friend, Brother XBox 360 Coach Mode.
While we will always think of Brother 360's potential--ah, what he might have been!--we cannot take extensive time to grieve. For one thing, Brother 360 would not want us to take time out from testing sliders to weep and lament over his small plastic casket. He would want us to play! For another, we knew Brother 360 had birth defects anyway, poor soul. He would have lived in much pain. We would have loved him anyway, but we would have shared the suffering.
Moreover, there is always the future. New versions will be born, and we can hope for successful births of quality Coach Mode games we can nurture and bring to maturity. Let us lavish our time on the versions we have--Brother Xbox, Brother PS2 and small but scrappy Brother PSP--to make them the best games they can possibly be. Remember, it truly does take a village to raise a child.
Brother Xbox 360 Coach Mode, may the electronic gods bless and keep thee, child and friend who never drew living breath. Amen.

Meh, if you're not coach-mode-ing on the XBox platform, then you're going to hell anyway. You're not all coaching to the same god.

I too have given up any hope of coach moding on the 360. It's a shame too, because I absolutely love most everything else about the game.
I've definitely decided to get a PS2 version of the game this weekend for my dynasty. I'll play the 360 version if I just want a pickup game where it doesn't matter if I go 7 of 24 with 5 interceptions. But for a true dynasty, I just gotta have my coach mode.

I've finally found a church to belong to. *speaking in tongues* There is no coach mode!!! AHHHH. It seems as though this would have been one of the easiest things to add (not disable) in the game. The CPU throws its own passes. Why can't I.
I have searched for help on this issue since the game came out and I keep getting told to check the auto-pass feature. I guess it wasn't just me who couldn't find it.
