Since they're already using Gumbell, Kellogg, Rafftery, and Lundquist, 2k needs to lock down CBS-exclusivity, the way EA has done with ESPN. I think the game would be even sweeter with the complete "Road to the Final 4" package.

I haven't seen anything from EA yet, but this is really early to hear stuff about an upcoming game. Still, I'd be very surprised if EA didn't make it's March Madness available for the 360 (and PS3) next year.

I'd agree with westside. There's certainly been no reason to think there won't be March Madness this year, but as he said, it's way early to even have a basketball game up yet. This is probably a marketing ploy by 2k to take some of the focus off the upcoming football games release, which I'm not exactly sure would could be accomplished from. On the other hand, you have to think that if the EA team really cares about the sales of their basketball products, then there will be a vastly new MM on shelves this fall. 2k's early release of features could give EA a chance to "borrow" some of them, which I would not put past them.

These pics look EXACTLY like what I have with ch2k6. Most of the time you can see some slight differences year-to-year, but after watching the video, I feel I already own the game.

I wish they would fix the shooting animation, it looks like they shrug their shoulders when they shoot.

Hmm I've read up on this game some more and it looks like its going to be better then I thought. I hope they really capture the college atmosphere though. Like when I play in Duke, I want it to be crazy and loud as hell lol.

EDIT: I dont know after wathcing the videos, doesnt look much like a next-gen game. Oh well, either way I'll probably get it for xmas since I only have one game for 360 anyways.

I agree. I've been playing the hell out of NBA 2k7 the last couple weeks and I'm really looking forward to College Hoops. Compare that to EA's Football where I've played maybe 4 entire games since I bought it back in July.

Yeah, my only gripe with last year's game was the player heights. If anything, you should have undersized power forwards and 5'9" shooting guards. Now that would really provide you with some options.

March Madness actually outsells CH by a huge number. They don't need to advertise simply because they're EA Sports. I only know one other person personally that buys CH over March Madness. It's the same thing as FIFA and Winning Eleven with soccer games. There's no question which is better, but FIFA sells so much more simply because of the brand name.

Seems very ironic ... EA's cash cow, Madden, has exactly 0 competition, but that's always where you get the most pre-release updates, info, even TV commericals, for chrissakes. Yet, with MM, where they have the most competition ... nada.

I would rather them spend more money on research & development (which, judging from past years, it definitely looks like that's what they're doing) than on ads. Usually about a week or two before it's released you'll see a full preview. I doubt this game will be released by November though...maybe the last week of the month or the first week of December would be my best guess.

Other new goodies in 2K7 include loads of new shot (including signature shots), pass, and block animations; a postgame replay feature that lets you watch a replay of any score in the game you just played;
The postgame replay sounds cool. Let's you replay any score of the entire game.

Before the game begins, you can even control your players in their pregame warm-ups. Hit a big dunk, and the home crowd will roar with appreciation; perform well in warm-ups, and your team will get a small boost of confidence before tip-off.
That's something new that might be neat. Might spice up the pre-game a little bit.

In addition to having more than 200 school fight songs to add to the atmosphere, 2K7 will let you create your own school chant from scratch, with an easy-to-use and surprisingly flexible chant-creator tool. Using up to 32 "beats," you insert individual cheers from presets such as letters, mascots, and regional locations into each slot to create a customized cheer. Once you've got your "message" complete, you can set it to a variety of marching-band drum beats and then choose when and how often you want to hear it in your games. It's too bad you can't upload these chants for use in online matches, as the potential for humiliating your friends (and enemies) is delightful to think about. Perhaps that's something they can add in the future.
The custom chant feature keeps sounding better and better to me. I understand why they didn't let it be implemented online lol.

I can't wait for this game to come out, and i've never been happier to be a 360 owner :D

I think warm-ups may be cool at first, but will wear off after awhile. I don't like it that much already because pre-game warmups have no correlation with performance during the game. Therefore, I don't like that you can get a boost just from doing well in warmups.

No, I don't mind it because the CH series actually makes some major improvements, so if they want to do a couple gimmick fixes like this, I don't mind. It's when a series touts something like that as its most significant change (cough, NCAA Football, cough) that pisses me off.

neither did i, but i'm sure there are plenty of players that have a harder time getting "on" when they're "off" in warm-ups. and didn't it give you a tiny boost of confidence in your first shot when you were hitting them in warm-ups. i'd assume it's implemented like that, like a ratings boost of +1 or 2 or -1 or 2 for like the first 4 posessions.

The game also includes an updated and upgraded weekly "broadcast" starring Greg Gumble and Clark Kellogg. Before the season begins, the pair will run down the top 25 teams in the nation, as well as their picks for first- and second-team All Americans. From OS regarding Open Legacies:

Can you start an open legacy with any team and have the freedom to switch coaching jobs ? Also how long is legacy mode this year ?

open mode has a coach carousel this year, so you can get fired and take other jobs. legacy is still 40 years long in career and open modes.

I usually have respect for the CH series in terms of roster ratings, but this year's is just awful. They really butchered a large percentage of ratings, forcing me to have to make some major changes after I get the rosters with the correct names.

I know this is petty shit... but Im abit fustrated by the fact VC has went what..2 or 3 straight years fucking up the UF court, as it looks like by the screenshots on gamespot.

Its not THAT big of a deal in the grand scheme of things. But its not something I expect from a VC hoops game.

Yeah, it's cool that the ratings are like that, but it won't be if all incoming recruits in legacy mode are rated 80+ as freshmen.

I hope drafting players into NBA is a little better. I've touched based on this before in here I think, but I think it'd be cool if hair and tattoos would transfer directly over into NBA 2k7 so you're players look somewhat of the same as they did in the college game. Not really a huge deal, but something small thats always bothered me a bit. I remember a few years ago I kept redoing the draft until the guy I was drafting looked somewhat similar to what he did in the college game[laugh] . I haven't heard anything about this, so I'm doubting it hasn't be fixed or I'm the only one who cares about this lol.

i will be happy to purchase this game this year. wish i had gotten it last year instead of MM '06. now i can play a game with a lot of fun to it. once i got NBA 2K7 (even tho it was my first time plaing this game in the 2K series cuz i hate NBA Live) i have been into playing a NBA video game a lot since NBA Live '97.

when that College Hoops hit the shelfs whether its at Wal-Mart, Gamestop or EB Games i'm goin get it bright and early. Enuff said.

March Madness '07 demo is supposed to be up today on Xbox marketplace(EA Sports website says). I haven't check to see yet or to try it out(though I wont buy it--2k7 all the way!!), but just thought it was weird that even with that we still aren't seeing anything really from 2k7, not even commercials.

I have seen 1 comercial for this it was on the other night with JJ, talking about the ball control and the chant creator. Cant wait to get a college BBall game this year

Not good at all. Wouldn't surprise me if this happened for all consoles eventually. Last year was a complete clusterfuck with the release date. Pushed back a week three separate time, IIRC.

Oh well, at least we know it will be worth the wait.

Supposedly one of the 'big new features' in MM is the ability to export draft classes to NBA Live. If that's the only thing they added/fixed from last year's version, they might as well quit making that series.

not just a next-gen thing... last year the PS2 version got pushed back while I believe the xbox version shipped a week earlier or something. Not sure if its 2k sticking it to the Sony boys or if there's something harder to code on the PS2??! Anyway it sucks either way...

i don't know what is going on but walmart and gamestop websites have CH 2K7 to be available on the 11th of december.

i went to the website and it says that the 360, xbox and PS2 versions will be shipping today. when i went to gamstop today, the guy told me to check back tomorrow afternoon to see if they have it for the PS2 cuz he only knows about the 360 version.

i'll be very sad and upset if i have to wait till next month.:(

Got mine from GameStop about 2.5 hours ago.....same wonderful gameplay as last year with a few touchups....

On defense with deflections, guarding stances, steals, etc.

On offense....the thing that stood out to me is the great passing. DJ Augustin (Texas freshman PG) was superb slicing his way through the zone and setting up bigs with easy buckets.

The AI seems to be greatly improved this year. I play on MOP and I played with Texas against Kansas for 1 half (25-15 L in 10 minutes) and then Texas against Oklahoma State for 1 half (22-18 W in 10 minutes) and then I played a handful of gym rat 5 on 5s to get more practice in.

My original plan was hop right online to get adjusted to this year's game, but nobody was on :(

Once I find some roster names that I can download with Replay....I will be able to start and post (yes utopians and gents....post) my coaching legacy which will begin with Texas State. :D

I picked up this and I picked up Rainbow Six: Vegas today.

I played a quick game against App. State and I won(I forgot the score) after being down at the half :)

I'm going to have to play some more to get used to the controls and everything else. The game was definitely fun though and the atmosphere seemed very well done.

It's a roll of the dice really. I stopped at a GameStop near my house last night on the way home. They didn't have them shelved but I saw some on the counter behind the register. Hoping they weren't all reserves, I asked the guy, "Did you all get College Hoops today?" Haha when I went into EB Games there was only one guy working the counter and this kid just happens to walk in right before me with like 50 games he wants to sell back. I could see the game back in the display right behind him. I was about to punch that kid but luckily another EB worker came outta the back before anything bad happened :D

My gamecrazy had 10 copies they were supposed to get in, but only got in 2 and one of them was the demo they let everyone play in the store. I wasn't able to get there until late but the guy said they had been holding it for me all day because I had been calling about it the last couple days :). Plus I trade in alot of old games there before I buy new ones so he said they saved it for me because i was their best customer of the guys on the list. :p

I don't think they have put that information out yet....but there has to be a reason they pushed the PS2 release date back 3 weeks....maybe it was glitches or maybe they took the time to add more features that weren't in the Xbox version, but was in the 360 version (NIT, Team Unity?).

You can customize conferences by switching teams before you start....but I am 99.9999% sure you can't accept invitations into new conferences.

I bet it was simply glitches, but they would not add extra features into the ps2 version and not into the regular xbox version.

Are they going to have the NIT in the PS2 version? I didn't see it on the 2ksports site, but thought maybe they just didn't put it cause they had already listed that under the 360 features. I'll be pretty pissed if the NIT isn't in the PS2 version.

Damn. I completely forgot about this game, and I forgot this forum was on here, but after reading this thread, I want to get it really bad.

Called my local video rental place, and it was rented, and the next closest is about 20 miles away, and that would kill my gas reserved, so I will just wait until christmas, but I remember how in-depth dynasty was, and just couldn't believe it back on XBOX. Now on 360, it looks even better, I can't wait to pick it up.

Driving a 97' Ford F-150 that used to run on propane and used to be a work truck for the city of Euless, Texas w/ 85,000+ miles on it doesn't help.

20 miles to and from=40 miles, 40 miles=Quarter tank

Quarter tank=$12.00

but yeah, I really need to get this game, I remember being absolutely stunned how in-depth the legacy on 06'.

Only played about five minutes worth so far....didn't see any team unity meter. Haven't played a season to see if NIT is in....I'm guessing it's the exact same as the X-Box version.

Just afew thoughts. Just picked it up today and ran a game and a half and messed with some things.

There is no 'Team Unity' as far as I could tell. There is no post-season NIT either. There IS a random arena available labled 'NIT' thats pretty much a bare floor with the NIT logo on it. It looks kinda like the Carrier Dome. Maybe it was ported from the 360 version and not used...

There is a Pre-Season NIT..Its like an 8-team tournament that takes place in St. John's 6K seat gym.

The 2kSports Coaches vs. Cancer tourney is now a large 16-team tourney played at MSG. Opposed to last year where it was in the game as it truly exists.. 4 hosts holding tourney games at their own place then the Final 4 goto NYC. No idea why the fuck 2k changed it.

Seemingly ever half-court offense pass I tried to make was a one handed hip pass. It really looks stupid and affects the flow of my offense.

Create-A-Team still blows monkey goats.

The all-conference teams are kind of neat, but hidden.

The fact now every piece of the court is editable is a neat feature over 2k6, where parts of the court could not be edited..such as Duke's paint area. I made a faint outline of the Center Circle underneath the Gator logo at midcourt.

I need to figure out how to make a court color to edit UF's new court. Fuck 2k for not using the hex system.

Oh yeah.if you simulate 1 minute halfs, everyone on the bench will be pissed off.

The 20 dollar price tag makes it worthwhile for the PS2.. if it was any more I wouldnt have bought the game and as far as right now I wouldnt have recommended it to anyone who bought 2k5 or 2k6.

make sure you're not holding down one of the mod button (right and left trigger on the 360)

not sure if that's the problem but it's possible that you're often times holding turbo down while passing.

Thanks for the info Gator. Does anyone else have any reasons to get the new PS2 version? I have last years game, 2k6. Not having the NIT was a blow, but I might be able to live with it if other things are better. And keep in mind, with me, it's not so much game play, since I won't be playing the game a ton, but other features like improved recruiting and such.

What do people think now that the game has been out a week for the PS2?
