Panther Prowl

Volume 1, #1

High Point, NC - Under the direction of first year head coach Charles Welch, the High Point University Panthers hope to take the Big South by storm in 2003-2004. "This is the year to get our first-ever conference championship and ticket to the Big Dance" Welch said at media day on Wednesday. "We can't be satisfied with finishing in the middle of the Big South pack." High Point takes on a daunting schedule highlighted by a season opening 3 game road trip against high profile teams Clemson, Michigan, and Virginia, another road contest against nearby rival UNC-Greensboro, and of course the slate of Big South games. The 2003-2004 version of the High Point Panthers is an experienced group laden with upperclassmen. Hopefully, this will help the Panthers win the close games they just couldn't seem to pull out in the past. It should be an exciting year of Panther basketball, don't miss it!!

High Point Drops Season Opener

Clemson, SC - The High Point Panthers began their season on a sour note as the Clemson Tigers handed them a 65-55 defeat. Clemson improves to 1-1 on the season while High Point is now 0-1. Despite the best efforts of High Point's Christopher Jameson who had 20 points and 5 rebounds, Clemson dashed the hopes of the upset minded Panthers by hitting a great number of shots, led by Scott Okosa who chipped in with 25 points, 4 assists, and 2 rebounds. High Point kept the game close in the first half and only trailed 24-22 at the intermission. However, Clemson came out the dressing rooms hot and never looked back on its way to a 43-28 lead. High Point got no closer than 8 the rest of the game. The Panthers now travel to face the Michigan Wolverines, where they will be looking for their first win of the campaign.

Coach's Analysis

"We were really up against it on the road. Clemson is a great shooting team and they showed that tonight. I believe we put up a good fight. We took care of the ball and held it to a defensive struggle. What we need to work on is rebounding and defense down low. We must be more physical. All in all, not a bad effort in a game we were not expected to even keep close. We will work on some things in practice and start to prepare for another tough road game at Michigan."

This dynasty is looking really good. Now if we can just get a basketball legacy to keep going. Good luck against the Wolverines!

As it turns out, my game freezing led to the game not even working, none of my XBOX games work now. I am going to get a new updated system. I guess I had one of the old ones. I will start another dynasty as soon as I get my new XBOX.
