I haven't recorded dynasty progress since NCAA 2004, so I'm ready to jump back on. Please bare with me if I'm a little rusty.
My head coach will be James Parks, a complete nerd and stat freak, perfect for Vanberbilt.
I also want to create a website for this, which will make it easier to display schedules and rosters and stuff, but still use the forums as my main way of updating. Is this against the utopia rules to create a website along with a dynasty? Please pm me if you can tell me.
I'll update as often as possible, but don't be surprised if theres 2 or 3 day waits, considering I'm in the middle of college right now too.
Thanks,
James

EDIT: A few more things.
I will be playing on All American mode, with all sliders moved 2 notches up for the computer. This may change as time goes on, so I will let you know when it does.
Also, my recaps will be in newspaper format (with game previews, recaps, etc, just like you would see in a newspaper.)

COMMODORES TO OPEN WITH TWO ROAD GAMES
NASHVILLE - Vanderbilt Commodores first-year head coach James Parks has released the 2005 football schedule.
Vanderbilt will start with two road games, the first one being a non-conference game against Wake Forest, and the second against SEC West foe Arkansas.
Richmond and Middle Tennessee state round out the non-conferene slate, and Vanderbilt draws Arkansas, Ole Miss, and LSU from the SEC West to go along with their SEC East schedule.
Vanderbilt's opener at Wake Forest will be on Thursday, September 1st, and will be the first Division 1A college football game of the season. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. eastern time, and will be televised on ESPNU.
"I'm looking forward to starting off against two quality teams on the road. If we can do well in these two opening games, I'm confident Vanderbilt can make a bowl game," said coach Parks.
Lofty expectations, considering Vanderbilt hasn't had a winning season since 1982. However, senior QB Jay Cutler will return.
"I'm thrilled (Jay) Cutler decided to come back," said Parks. "I felt like a salesman trying to pitch him my idea for an offense, and he bought into it and decided to give it a shot."
9/1 at Wake Forest
9/10 at Arkansas
9/17 Ole Miss
9/24 Richmond
10/1 Middle Tennessee State
10/8 LSU
10/15 Georgia (Homecoming)
10/22 at South Carolina
11/5 at Florida

JENNINGS CARRIES COMMODORES TO THRILLING VICTORY
http://media.scout.com/Media/Image/18/183874.jpg
WINSTON SALEM - Vanderbilt Sophomore tailback Jeff Jennings, with his 165 yards on 18 carries, was the backbone of the Commodores offense in its 2005 season opener.
Although Jennings never reached the endzone, he broke off three 20+ yard carries and had three third-down conversions.
"Unbelievable," said Commodores head coach James Parks. "That kid was remarkable. His work in practice has really paid off."
The first quarter could not have gone any better for the Commodores. After four Jeff Jennings' carries for 45 yards on the opening drive, quarterback Jay Cutler connected with Jason Caldwell for a 18 yard touchdown pass.
On the ensuing drive for Wake Forest, Vanderbilt cornerback Andrew Pace picked off a Benjamin Mauk pass, and Cutler threw an 18 yard touchdown pass to Erik Davis on the very next play.
"It was definitely a relief to start out that quickly," said Parks. "But we knew the game was far from over."
Wake Forest slowly but surely climbed back into the game, kicking two field goals in the second quarter, to set the score at 14-6. Vanderbilt ended the first half with a 35 yard field goal from Patrick Johnson to put the Commodores up 17-6.
Wake Forest stormed down the field on the second half opening drive with 6 straight carries from tailback Chris Barclay, and the drive ended on a one yard Barclay touchdown run.
Wake Forest cornerback Riley Swanson intercepted a Jay Cutler pass that put Wake Forest in Vanderbilt territory, with a chance to take the lead. The Vanderbilt defense forced a three and out, however, and was able to keep the lead intact.
Vanderbilt scored a wild touchdown midway through the fourth quarter to go up 24-13. QB Jay Cutler was scrambling frantically to avoid tacklers, and got a fortunate block from Jennings that allowed Cutler to sneak his way into the endzone on a 19 yard carry.
It didn't take long for Wake Forest to come back. Barclay returned the kickoff into Vanderbilt territory, and two plays later they were celebrating after a 38 yard touchdown pass. The ensuing two point conversion was successful.
In a debatable move with 3 minutes remaining in the game, Wake Forest head coach Jim Grobe did not kick the onside kick. Vanderbilt handed the ball off to Jeff Jennings time after time, and Jennings was able to run out the clock and spoil a Wake Forest comeback bid.
"I was extremely nervous in the last three minutes," said Parks. "Wake Forest showed the ability to score very quickly, but Jennings calmed me down with his brilliant performance down the stretch."
QB Jay Cutler struggled at times with 5 of 14 passing, but made several key passes early on for 2 touchdowns.
Vanderbilt opens the season at 1-0 for the first time since 1997, and will travel to Arkansas next Saturday in SEC action.

Thanks. I was nervous twice in the game. First time was when they had the ball down only 17-13 with a chance to take the lead, and second was late in the game after the 2 point conversion. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to drain all 3 minutes off the clock since they had 3 timeouts, but alas I was able to hold on. VERY close game.

SEC GOES 7-1 IN WEEK 1
Arkansas (Vanderbilt's next opponent), as expected, rolled over South Missouri State 38-3 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Arkansas racked up an NCAA week 1 high 316 rushing yards, led by Kyle Dickerson with 214 yards. The Arkansas passing game was surprisingly efficient as well, with QB Robert Johnson hitting 14 of 15 passes for 200 yards.
"I don't care who you're playing against, that's impressive numbers, said Parks. "I believe we're looking at an offensive machine."
The Arkansas defense was also stellar, holding SMS to 86 yards. Whether this was due to the lack of competition or the skill of Reggie Herrings defense is yet to be seen.
Vanderbilt (1-0) will travel to Fayetteville to play Arkansas (1-0) this Saturday at 6 p.m., and will be an un-televised game.

FAYETTEVILLE - The Commodores have been riding on an emotional high all week following their season opening win at Wake Forest, but a much larger challenege awaits tonight at 6 p.m. against Arkansas.
Vanderbilt (1-0) defeated Wake Forest 24-21 for its season opener, while Arkansas (1-0) dominated Southern Missouri State 38-3. Tonight's contest will be the SEC conference opener for both teams.
Arkansas comes into the game as the #1 rushing team in America after 1 week. Arkansas rushed for 316 yards last week, led by tailback Kyle Dickerson with 214 yards.
"Dickerson isn't the only runningback we'll see," said Commodore coach James Parks. "They have a runningback roster that is 4 or 5 players deep, and we have to prepare for them all."

VANDERBILT PASSING GAME TOO MUCH FOR HOGS TO HANDLE
CUTLER THROWS FOR 340 YARDS
http://www.jerryremy.com/LogoServer/college/Vanderbilt4.GIF42 http://www.jerryremy.com/LogoServer/college/ArkansasRazorbacks10.GIF35
FAYETTEVILLE - Senior quarterback Jay Cutler had a career day against Arkansas on Saturday, throwing for 340 yards and leading the Commodores on an astonishing 28 point second quarter.
Vanderbilt (2-0, 1-0 SEC) was virtually unstoppable on offense in the first half, with 256 passing yards and 98 rushing yards. Cutler missed on only one pass in the entire first half, which was dropped in the endzone.
"He (Cutler) really toned it up a notch in this one," said head coach James Parks. "He saw oppurtunities open, and he exploited them as much as he could."
Cutler had only one touchdown pass on the day, a 16 yarder to Erik Davis midway through the 2nd quarter. He set up Jeff Jennings with long passes on each of Jennings' short yardage touchdowns.
Jennings was excellent at runningback once again, powering his way to 131 yards on 18 carries, with three touchdowns. Jennings fumbled once in the endzone, which Commodore Left Guard Nigel Seaman recovered for a touchdown.
"Jennings was a workhorse back for us today, "said Parks. "He had no trouble rushing straight up the gut, and was just unstoppable in the red zone."
The game didn't go completely flawless for Vanderbilt, though. Arkansas was able to break off four touchdown runs of 60 or more yards, and finished with a rushing total of 394 yards.
"I knew they were going to run the ball quite a bit, but I admit I underestimated their ability to break the big plays. Rush defense is certainly something we have got to work on," said Parks.
Three of the four long runs came in the fourth quarter, and was all a part of the stampede comeback Arkansas attempted to create. Arkansas went into the fourth quarter trailing 42-14, but Vanderbilt was unable to stop the Arkansas rushing game at all.
"I feel we should have won that game," said Arkansas head coach Houston Nutt. "I'm confident if we could have gotten the ball one extra time, we could have marched right down very quickly for the tying touchdown."
That didn't happen, however, as Arkansas (1-1, 0-1 SEC) was unable to convert on any of their three onside kicks.
"That fourth quarter was pretty scary," said Parks. "I hate to say it, but that was just a complete defensive meltdown."
Vanderbilt finished with 489 total yards of offense, while Arkansas racked up 502.
Vanderbilt will host Ole Miss (1-0) next week for the Commodores home opener.

Various news
Still working on the website for the dynasty. Just need to find a good free host, and need to finish up the coding.
Also, I'm currently trying to get a program working that will take a screenshot on the Xbox, so I can have a few graphics to go with these words. Anyone mind sharing with me how they do it?
I know there are ways to get a tv tuner card in a computer and stuff, but there's also a way to upload a program to your xbox that will do it, I just can't get it working right.
I plan on playing the Ole Miss game tonight. I think this season may kind of go like the real Vandy season. I could go as high as 5-0 or 4-1 before I start playing the big teams, and then... eck. I don't even want to think about it right now.

JAY CUTLER NAMED SEC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
http://media.scout.com/Media/Image/26/260916.jpg
The Southeastern Conference announced that Vanderbilt's Senior Quarterback, Jay Cutler, has been named the SEC player of the week for week 2.
Cutler completed 12 of 15 passes for 340 yards and a touchdown, and also had a rushing touchdown, in a 42-35 upset victory over Arkansas.
Cutler is also a key reason why Vanderbilt is 2-0, and has people around the Nashville area taking notice. Ticket sales for the upcoming home opener against Ole Miss are already twice as high compared to last seasons home opener.
"I don't want it to end right here," said Cutler. "Our goal is the same as everybody else. We want to keep winning games and win our conference. I see no reason why we can't keep the winning ways going."
Vanderbilt plays two straight non-conference games after the Ole Miss game, and then the heart of the schedule comes up with back to back against traditional SEC powers LSU and Georgia.

GAMEDAY: OLE MISS AT VANDERBILT
http://www.jerryremy.com/LogoServer/college/MississippiRebels2.GIF at http://www.jerryremy.com/LogoServer/college/Vanderbilt4.GIF
NASHVILLE - The Vanderbilt Commodores are coming off a shocking 42-35 road win over Arkansas, and are hungry for me.
Will the Ole Miss Rebels be next?
The past three Ole Miss vs. Vanderbilt contests, all won by Ole Miss, have been very exciting games decided by a touchdown or less. The past two years have been decided by a field goal, and the 2004 game went into overtime.
But things could be different this season. Vanderbilt has a swagger they've never had before, and must prove they can win when they're expected to win. With two impressive road wins, the Nashville crowd expects nothing less than a Commodore victory.
"We're going to give it to them." said Vanderbilt coach James Parks. "If they come out and watch us, and just give us a chance, I promise them I won't let them down."
Vanderbilt is preparing for a home crowd that is expected to be more than double than last seasons home opener.
"It should be interesting to actually have home field advantage," said Commodore Senior quarterback Jay Cutler. "Normally, the visiting crowd has more fans in the stadium than our home crowd."
Ole Miss, who broke a 2 season losing streak to Memphis by defeating the Tigers last week, are all that stands in the way of a 3-0 start.
"We're definitely not taking Ole Miss lightly," said Parks. "Our wins have been far from perfect, and we understand that we still have to work extremely hard to have a chance at winning any game on the schedule."
The Commodores should remember to play four quarters of football too. Vanderbilt had a complete defensive meltdown in the fourth quarter against Arkansas, but luckily Arkansas' 21 fourth quarter points couldn't overcome the points Cutler and the offense put up. Vanderbilt won 42-35, but lead by as much as 42-14.
"We can't make that mistake again," said Parks. "We may not be as fortunate next time and not have that many points on the board.
"I plan on subbing in players more often in the second half, to get the defense some rest and hopefully contain some of the fatigue."
The game will be televised on Jefferson Pilot sports at 12 p.m. Eastern time.

OLE MISS CAUSES NO THREAT TO VANDERBILT WIN STREAK

NASHVILLE - The outcome of Saturday's contest against Ole Miss was never in doubt, simply because Commodore head coach James Parks wouldn't let it be.
"Our first two games were way too close for comfort at the end of the game," said Parks. "We came out today and proved that those weren't fluke wins."
Vanderbilt, in front of a near sellout crowd of 37,000, seized momentum right from the start of the game and never let go.
Ole Miss drove down to the Vanderbilt 19 on the opening drive, but Robert Lane threw an interception, and Ole Miss would not see the redzone again for the rest of the game.
"They had a few big plays at the start to get down there, but I called an early timeout to calm the kids down," said Parks. "I don't think they were used to hearing this kind of a home crowd. They were very nervous."

Hey, Vandy is rolling. I would probably suggest dialing down both offenses (Human and CPU). It seems to me that when you raise the defense (particularly awareness, but things like tackling and break block as well) to compensate for high scoring offenses, it speeds them up and makes the game play kinda "arcady" and unrealistic. I would suggest trying to make adjustments on the offense sliders first. Just my $.02.
Looking good so far, though. I'm enjoying it.
