Let me say first that I am not an MLB fan in the slightest. Sure, I'm happy when my home town Angels win, but I don't get fired up about it. Baseball bores me.
But as it the case with all sports, I enjoy the college version. I make it out to several 'SC games each season, and wish more of them were televised.
The Trojans open the season tonight at Long Beach State. Should be an interesting season.
Anyone else follow Pac-10 baseball?

Go Duc...???? :( I would follow it closely if the Ducks had a team.
I'm going to try and get out to a few Cal games this year. It appears they're ranked 25th by Baseball America and have three pre-season All American's. I played highschool ball with Eric Berger, the #1 pitcher at Arizona as a sophomore. He should do well, as a freshman he struck out 10 and gave up only 2 hits in under 5 innings of relief against Fullerton in the playoffs last year.

Damn good question. I wasn't at any of the games; I just read the recaps in the paper. Sounds like 'SC blew late inning leads in all 3 games. That's just craptastic. So much for our #17 ranking.

Hey don't worry guy, you'll bounce back from that against UCR. Good luck the rest of the way...at least until my Dirtbags meet your guys again...;)

I went to a fair amount when I was younger, because my parents didn't want to drive up to L.A. to watch 'SC games (like Fullerton is THAT much closer [glare] ).
But I don't really go to any CSUF games anymore, unless of course they're playing my Trojans.

With one out left in the top of the nine, USC is about to beat FIU (Florida Internationl) 13-4. That will complete a 3 game sweep, and coupled with last Tuesday's win over previously unbeaten Riverside, means the Trojans have won 4 straight to get the record up to 4-3.
I'm still bitter about the 3 losses to Long Beach last weekend, especially since 'SC had late inning leads in all 3 games. But it appears that things are back on track, and so far the Trojans look like they're going to be a very good team this year.

Trojans beat UC Santa Barbara yesterday, 16-11. That makes 5 straight wins, and a 5-3 record.
The offense this year has looked good. They're scoring runs consistently. But we're also giving them up in bunches. Lots of shootouts.
I've never been to big of a Cal fan in baseball (Evans diamond is too far away and I always followed SJSU much more closely), so I really can't tell you much about them this year.
One thing I do love about Bay Area college baseball is Sunken Diamond. IMO the best place to watch a college game in the country for the weather, quality of baseball and the stadium itself. I usually check out 2-3 games a year there and 1 or 2 at Muni Stadium in San Jose (saw Rice the last 3/4 years, but they are in C-USA now)

oregon state lost 2 of 3 (7-6, 2-6, 1-7) this weekend to #14 pepperdine to even our record at 3-3. doesn't look like we will be in the top 10 when the new polls are released. next up is a 4 game string from thursday to sunday against byu, uc-davis, sac state, and st. mary's. our closer gunderson has been struggling so far this year but at least its early in the season and not later

the beavs beat up on byu this afternoon and won 12-2. Dallas Buck had another strong outing and notched his third win of the season (3 for 3 so far), 7IP, 2ER, 4Hits, 2BB, 8K's (98 pitches thrown). got a game against uc-davis tomorrow and that means only one week left till the opening series at home

'SC, I believe, lost 2 of 3 to the Rainbows in Honolulu this weekend. Our record now stands at 8-7. So far the team has been wildly inconsistent....at least that's how it seems. Nothing has been televised, and I haven't made it to a game yet, so everything I know is from reading the write-ups.
Some games we have lots of offense, but no pitching/defense. Other games it's the complete opposite. Unfortunately, very rarely to both sides show up in the same game.

Here is a little recap of what the Oregon State baseball team did this weekend and what is on tap for the coming week.
The No. 14 baseball team swept Nevada in a three-game series to open home play at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field. The series averaged over 1,500 fans. The Beavers host the University of Portland Tuesday at 4 p.m. before embarking for Albuquerque and a three-game series over the weekend with the New Mexico Lobos.
Dallas Buck is now 3-0 after friday's win (13-4), Jonah Nickerson pitched a complete game saturday in a 4-0 win and Anton Maxwell got his first win of the season on sunday with a 9-1 win. Looks like the big 3 are getting into form and with Mike Stutes having good outings so far, the Beavs have a solid 4 starting pitcher rotation with a deep bullpen backing them up. Can't wait for Pac-10 play to start :) .

USC sweeps Cal this weekend, and takes over sole possession of first place in the Pac-10 with a 7-2 record. I like it!
