How are the Hoyas doing this year?
Am I mistaken, or does G'town have 6'9 guy who can run the offense as a PG?

We're 11-4. We got beat by UCONN(7),Illinois(10),West Virginia(7)and Vanderbilt by a few at home. The other 3 losses were on the road. Brandon Bowman can run the point at 6'9". He is very versitile.

Great, the refs are starting the BS calls vs. G'town.
Reddick not touched, call the foul anyway. No wonder Duke is undefeated, helps when you get 8 players on the floor to 5.

No, they practice shooting 3's the whole time and learning how to flop and look pathetic to get calls from refs.

Damn Noles, give Duke a little respect. I don't like 'em either but you gotta respect the program Coach K has there. As for the game, G'Town matches up extremely well with the Dukies. It also helps that Jeff Green is having the best game of his sophomore year against Shelden Williams.

No you don't. The NCAA gives them much more leeway than any other school. They break a ton of rules and never so much as get investigated. Look at the shit with Corey Maggette, and Chris Duhon's mother. Add to that, they have ESPN's lip more tightly wrapped around their collective dick than Notre Dame does with NBC.

It was always a matter of time before Duke lost one. It's a very inexperienced team outside of Redick, Williams, and Dockery. I really like this team come tournament time, though. I love watching Duke play.

I think you can dispute how good of an on-ball defender Shelden Williams is. He gives up 34 to Marco Killingsworth, 27 to Simmons of NC State, and now Jeff Green is picking him apart today. You can't confuse good off-the-ball help with on-ball defense in the post. I'm not saying that he isn't a solid defender on the ball because he is, but he's not the undisputed best defender in America like everybody says.

I can definitely agree with that...but it's not like he's a below average defender by any means. My point is that there's something that can be done about it with the skill they have down there. I'm sure this will be a point of emphasis going into March. They have plenty of time.

Yeah, because FSU gets even a 1/10th the leeway from the NCAA and Media that Duke does. I am sure Chris Rix and A.J. Nicholson will the first to testify.
As I recall, when Coach K didn't like an investigation a Duke newspaper reporter was doing he got the kid removed. It was when he was trying to expose the fraud that is Duke's Sociology Department, and the disproportionate number of players enrolled in it.

True. Still would have had to get up and make the shot though, but it would have got the ball out of Paulus' hands.
And, does anyone believe any fault goes to Shelden or whoever rebounded the missed FT for passing it to Paulus? I think with 6 seconds left, the ball has to go either to Dockery (senior) with the intent of getting it to Redick or just straight to Redick. Just because Paulus is the "point guard" doesn't make him the automatic ball handler.

All I have to say is that if we want to go far in the tourny, Paulus has better get his head out of his ass and Williams had better stop letting nobodies push him around like a paperweight. The way we drove the ball time after time and turned it over is just disgusting.

First off, HUGE win for the Hoyas. That's their first win over a #1 ranked team since 1985. Congrats to them.
As for Duke, they still need a lot of work with their perimeter defense. Also, we saw our first signs of vulnerability from Greg Paulus. Up until this game, Paulus was unflappable while running the show for the Dukies, but today was a different story. That's an issue that could come back to bite them in the Big Dance later on. J.J. can't do it all by himself.

I honestly didn't see any given calls. If you could point out any specific calls then I will gladly go back and look and correct myself if I'm wrong. On one drive he didnt get touched. On another he got touched on the elbow with a hand. Those are the main ones that come to mind. Everytime Reddick enters the paint and shoots he throws his head back and yells as if he has been shot. And the refs blow the whistle 90% of the time.
Do you think his quick dribble penetration creates these fouls?

No, because I dont consider him quick, lmao. I think the only one I saw that might be questionable is on that breakaway 3 point play. I saw very little contact if any, but that happens alot of time because of a bad viewing angle by the refs. However, Redick WAS hacked on the elbow on that key 3 that wasn't called. It all evens out IMO.
GU deserved to win, no doubt, but I don't think you can say that Duke was only in the game because the refs called a bad game and tried to give Duke the game. Of course, that was Nolesfan saying that, not you.

I agree, but if they call it on him they have to do it with everyone. They even teach us the little swim move(where you put your off ball hand right on the defender's hip and use it as leverage, which is a foul) in high school basketball and no one ever calls it. I'd love to see it called more, but I doubt it will happen.

So you're saying that it's not the refs who are biased. It's Coach K teaching his players how to cheat the rules by hiding fouls and flopping properly? I think it's a good theory. It would be insane to believe that every set of refs that officiates a Duke game is biased.

I'd say the majority of coaches, if not all of them, teach their players how to do it. Michael Jordan was exceptional at doing it and made a career out of it. A lot of people argue that it doesn't really give the offensive player an advantage and I'll be the first to say that it does. Do I personally do it? Yes. Does every other basketball player in America do it? Most certainly. Some refs call it, some dont. Some are iffy and only call it sometimes. I think everyone needs to get together and either allow it, or make it illegal completely.

It's not "my little move," everyone does it. If you ever played basketball you'd know this. They do it because it gives you a huge advantage to shake your defender and get to the basket, and the refs dont call it even though it is a foul.

If Florida gets a #1 seed this year, they have a great shot of being the 1st #1 seed to go out in round 1.
I doubt it, Duke would be more likely if they faced a team who runs the Princeton offense.

No, Ray Allen went off in the final minute and UConn won it.
They did go to the Elite 8, where they loss to UMass.
Loss is an understatement. UMASS kicked the shit outta us. Victor Page talked so much smack before the game and ended up with 2 points or so. We had an amazing team that year but just didn't show up against UMASS.
