Well, third times a charm lol. After my first ever dynasty was halted due to my memory card crapping out and the second attempt just could not re-capture the glory I have returned for more punishment. Like my previous runs this dynasty will revolve around the coaching career of Coach Miles and the journey will roam free with no boundaries, each job can lead to new ones. Unlike my previous runs, I will not be starting off with a D-1AA school, it will instead be a 1-Star D-1A school, it is set to be a run from the bottom up since I see no fun in starting with a good school.

***EDIT*** This is the Utopia version of my dynasty run at Maddenmania, WhoUTestin reccommended I put it up here as well and I believe it to be a great idea. I think this is a chance to see if even more people like my dynasty, all feedback is MORE than welcome because I like to know your reading, Thank You!

Blakeney Resigns As Troy Football Coach
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/Jman215/Blakeney_Larry.jpg

Troy, Alabama (AP) -- After 13 years at the helm of the Troy University Trojan football team, Larry Blakeney has resigned as the Head Coach of the program citing personal reasons as the cause to he exit. The depearture was expected by absolutely no-one especially since the Trojans were coming off of a 7-4 inagural season in the Sun-Belt along with their visit to the Silicon Valley Bowl in 2004. In his 13 years, Coach Blakeney became the winningest coach in school history amassing a 115-35-1 record spanning from 1991-2004 as well as guiding the program through the transition years after moving from D-1AA to D-1A in 2001. Upon announcing his resignation Coach Blakeney informed the media that he would not be fielding question and did not have any input on who would become the nect Troy University head fotball coach, he simply bid his farewells and exited the building. As far as the subject of the next head coach, with so little time before summer practices are set to begin there appears to be little information on who it could be and even fewer potential candidates available.

James Miles Revealed as New Head Coach
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/Jman215/coachmilespicheader.jpg

Troy, Alabama (AP) -- Just two short days after the resignation of Larry Blakeney, the Troy University Trojans appear to have found their man in the perrinial unknown and tender 25 year old James Miles. At the press conference Coach Miles stated, "I would like to thank everyone in the Troy University family as well as the community for this oppurtunity, things are indeed going to change, but for the good." Though unknown in broad circles he is known in much, much smaller ones. Coach Miles served as the assistant quarterbacks coach for Bob Stoops and the University of Oklahoma football team for the last three years. Miles comes to Troy with his wife Amanda and 3-month old daughter. After a short speech Coach Miles adjourned himself to meet with his assistants deciding who will stay and who will go, we expect more on the staff and the coach in the following days.

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/Jman215/coacescorner.jpg

This is the first of, hopefully, many sit-down interviews with the Head Coach of the Troy Trojans James Miles with myself Butch Darwin. In our interviews we hope to get a feel for the pulse of Trojan football and everything surrounding it as well.

Q: Coach, thanks for taking the time to sit down with us, I know things have been really hectic as of late with getting moved, setting your staff, and the fast approaching season.

It's not a problem at all Butch, things are starting to settle a bit and its rather nice to actually get to just sit somewhere and talk.

Q: Well coach first off what is the situation with your staff?

Well, being that there was so little time between my hiring and our first game next week there is not going to be any changes to the staff that Coach Blakeney had put together. We're just going to let things play out and I'll adapt everything from there, but believe me they (the staff) are more than capable of doing the job or else I would not be holding on to them.

Q: Coach, how do you feel about your roster right now?

Well, I knew coming in alot of what I was getting, the biggest benefit is that although alot of our standouts are seniors, we are graduating only seven starters...well...eight if you count Olmstead at punter hehe. We are lacking in depth at some spots and setup great in others, for instance, someone is going to have to breakthrough at quarterback but we have three halfbacks that I honestly think any of them could run for 1,000 this season. This year is likely to be the truest sense of a learning year for the team as well as myself.

Q: So, what's your outlook on the season then?

Well, I never blow smoke up your...well....yeah. If you look at our schedule I fell we can for sure win 3, but for more than that we'll have to find a quarterback and the kids will have to but into the new system 110%, and thats asking alot from 18-22 year oldswithing such a short time, but I have faith and can see us pulling out 5 or so.

Q: OK Coach, just one more and its the big one. We don't really know...anyhting... about you?

Heh, I expected this one first. Well, I was raised in Oklahoma by my mother, grandparents, and football coaches...seriously. I recieved my secondary education social studies degree from Oklahoma State University (as ashamed as I am to admit it) and from there followed my wife to Norman and OU where she started medical school. I needed something to do and kindof fell into a GA job for Coach Stoops and the rest is history.

Q: Well Coach I look forward to many more chats with you through the seasons to come and wish you the best of luck.

Thanks Butch.

Coach Miles Names 2005 Team Captains

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/Jman215/captains2005.jpg

Coach James Miles has named the team captains for the 2005 Troy Trojan football squad. On the defensive side of the ball, no-one should be suprised to hear that it wil be Redshirt Senior outside linebacker Bernard Davis as the captain. Davis is without a doubt the best player on a team where the defense is going to have to anchor a new offensive scheme under Coach Miles. Speaking of offense, Redshirt Senior right tackle James Edwards will not only be an anchor as a captain but also the anchor of a young offensive line who will have to protect an inexperienced backfield for the Trojans.

Career Opening Win
Trojans Roll Over JSU 38-10

"Yeah, its nice to have a win in our first game, but let's not forget this was against a D1-AA opponent so its time to move on" stated Coach Miles after his Trojans simply ground out Jackson State University yesterday. The Trojans appeared verry well oiled managing a substatial offensive performance of almost 400 yards in Coach Miles new system. After jumping out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter you could feel Troy and Coach Miles take the foot off of the accelerator and begin working the clock, 15 minutes and 36 seconds of it to be exact. Led offensively by Kenny Cattouse and his 107 yard 3 touchdown performance while the defense was solid all over as they held JSY to 281 yards of offense and only 61 yards on the ground. Up next for the Trojans is a real test against a potentially pesky UAB squad that could just be too much for the young Trojans and Coach Miles.

Well, a win is a win no matter who you are playing I suppose. Granted it is a wonderful thing to kick off the year with a big, fat 'W' but everyone has to move on with it because we have a true test next week. But for now we'll get back to this game against Jackson State. I truly feel like we played well considering we were very bland and are still very early into learning and adapting to the scheme...some are being quicker than others. With our rushing so potent it is giving us a chance to develop but we are going to move Banks to QB in practice this week from WR on a testing basis and I really wouldnt expect much to come of it though. He is going to be moved due to the discovery of a 84THP and 80THA on top of his 86SPD and being just a freshman...it gives us possibilities for the future if you know what I mean...

But now for this week's offensive and defensive POW's:

A Complete Shut Down
UAB Hold Troy to 3 Scoreless Quarters: Win 24-14

Martin Snags One of his Two INTS’ and Faulk Picks One for Himself

As Coach James Miles warned his players and all of the Troy media (including us) last week, reality did, in fact, set in directly on top of the Troy Trojans in the form of a dominating loss against UAB. "We played ugly, sure we forced 4 turnovers, but we gave up 4 as well...we've got a long way to go" said Coach Miles after the loss on Saturday. Not as if the team looking for an identity really needed, it looks like more gas has been fed to the fire in the form of the 2nd quarter sideline altercation between Coach Miles and his starting quarterback Dockery. The argument was sparked after Dockery threw his 2nd interception and went 3/9 in the first half passing for only 13 yards and no points for his team; Dockery was criticized by his coach and then visually blew up on the sideline. After the incident there was a surprise move from Troy and Coach Miles as they put in freshman wideout Dockery who had only been practicing at quarterback with the team. Dockery provided a spark helping Cattouse put up 129 yards while rushing for 83 yards and a touchdown and throwing for 80 and a score as well. Things look to be interesting before next weeks game versus Mizzou in Troy’s first road trip under Coach Miles.

This game is truly one of the most beautiful things on this planet as far as I'm concerned...sometimes I'm amazed that some of these don't fully grasp just how wondeful of a situation they are in. They have the chance to play a game well beyond the majority of people who ever set foot on a field...and some of them could even get paid to play the game but they don't realize how luck they are. I want the kids who cherish the game on my team, those are the young men that I will go to war with week in and week out, year in and year out. There is going to be a cleaning of house around here and by the way we played yesteray I know who is with me and just who is against me. Certain individuals better learn the meaning of team...but for aome I fear it is too late. We better hold on to our asses for Mizzouo at this rate.

Here are this week's offensive and defensive POW's...familiar faces...face who want to play:

Coach Miles Names WR Starting QB
Gary Banks Gets The Starting Nod

Ratings as a QB

One can't help but look at the present act of Coach Miles as anything other than stretching for help. After practicing the position for only 2 weeks (high-school was the last time he played QB) Miles has named Redshirt Freshman Gary Banks the starting quarterback of the Troy Trojans. After what was an obvious head-to-head clash and confrontation last week between Miles and then starter Lance Dockery this may have been inevitable. Yesterday Coach Miles was quoted as saying, "Look, this is a move that isnt just good for us now, but for the future as well. Gary will start the remainder of the season and next year officially move positions to QB." When the media asked if this was simply a cheezy move by Miles to get speed on the field and hope for plays Miles retorted, "Cheese? Cheese? Who the hell are you to claim something like that? If he didnt already prove himself against UAB then you all need to wake up. Yeah he's a burner with 86SPD and agility and acceleration to boot, but he's also the most accurate passer on the damn team and we're gonna win with him." Appearantly only time will tell as no matter who is in at QB this is still a young offense learning a new system with an appeaantly deranged coach at the helm.

Davis Recovers a Self-Forced Fumble/Faulk Snags Yet Another INT

Without a doubt Saturday produced the biggest win in Coach James Miles short career here at Troy. "This is obviously huge for us," said Coach Miles at the press conference after the game, "We played almost perfec which is really the only way we stood a chance of even being in the game. Our defense came to play and I think we found someone (Banks) who is gonna lead this tem for years to come." Speaking of the Trojan defense, they managed to hold a Mizzou team led by Brad Smith to only 398 yards of offense as compared to their NCAA leading 519 yard average. It was a day of forced fumbles and interceptions for the Trojan defense while on the offensive side of the ball Gary Banks played undeniably solid ion his first start at Quarterback throwing for 161 yards and 3 TD's while also rushing for 82 yards and a TD. Up next for the Trojans is a road trip to South Carolina to take on Steve Spurrier and the return of the fun&gun to the NCAA.

No drama in my take this week...at least not like last week. This win was obviously gargantuan for us as not only a team but for the university as well, to knock off a BigXII team is saying something...even if they are from the Northern Division. The defense was immaculate all day and BD (Davis) has shown why he's the anchor to the defense every game so far, I shudder when I think about him graduating hehe. Offensively though is where I'm the most excited, I feel like we have finally f ound a personality behind Gary (Banks) but our O-line will HAVE to play better next week or we might go through all 3 QB's, they have a brutal pass rush....we shall see...

Fourth Quarter Fallout
Trojans Surrender 13 Unanswered in Fourth: Fall 24-32
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/Jman215/matchupwk5southcar.jpg

After controllling the tempo of the game for the first three quarters, the Trojans and Coach Miles went into the fourth quarter with the Gamecocks leading 24-19 but then proceded to give up 2 FG's and 1 TD without any points themselves. "Nothing good should ever come from a loss, but I think these last twp weeks we've shown we can play a little bit of football" said Coach Miles after the game. Gary Banks played well for the most-part in his second start throwing for 233 and 3 TD's but the downfall was the lack of pass protection as he was sacked 8 times for an astounding -70 rushing yards. On the plus side Cattouse rushed for his 4th straight 100+ yard game and the defense managed to at least stifle the Spurrier led South Carolina offense and allow only 345 yards of offense. Another large blow to the Trojans, other than a loss, was the loss of 2nd string HB Marlo East for 13 weeks due to a broken tailbone, east was the second leading rusher and a key to the Trojan wishbone. Up next for the Trojans is North Texas next week.

We have to learn how to finish games, things like this are to be expected eith the youth that we have but if we want more than another losing season we have to learn from mistakes like this in a hurry. I thought we did a good job keeping Coach Spurrier's offense in check for the most part and only allowing those 345 yards of total offense...not bad at all considering... Offensively, I harped all week on the fact out O-Line was in for a challenge and the collapsed utterly, when a QB with the elusiveness of GB gets hit as much as he did (19 hurries and 8 sacks) then we have problems that MUST be fixed. Another bad note is our loss of Marlo East for the year (broken tailbone - 13 weeks), the 'bone was about to get dangerous with him in there but hopefully we can pull out a bowl so he'll get one more game in this season.

Yet Another Fourth Quarter Collapse
Trojans Give Up 19 Unanswered in Fourth: Lose 22-42
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/Jman215/matchupwk6northtex.jpg

"This is getting rediculous", said Coach Miles of the Trojans after the game, "Yet another game that we were in going into the fourth yet manage to find another obscurre way to fal directly on our faces...do not pass go, do not collect $200 dollars." The Trojans also suffered the misfortuen of losinf their leading rusher Cattouse in the early first quarter causing the quarterback Banks to lead the team in rushing with 97 yards and 1 TD along with his 198 yards passing and 2 TD's. Another sour note that is a rather obvious cause for the loss in their first conference game of the year was by committing 7 turnovers to North Texas' 3, three of those seven were by Banks' 2 INTS and his 1 fumble. The giant lump sum of turnovers also overwrote the fact that Troy held North Texas to 204 yards and their vaunted rushing attack to only 162 yards. Next week Troy will have a chance to pull their record to 3-3 with a win over Florida International.

I can't help but feel like this ship is metaphorically sinking, and I'm going down with it. The excuse of youth on offense can only be used so much and I feel like its all played out. We manage to put ourselves into a 1 point game going into the fourth only to collapse...for the second time in a row. Despite our defense giving up 42 points they still rank as one of the top 20 crews in the country. Cattouse going down after the first series really hurt our 'O', especially after losing Marlo (East) last week until the pos-season...if there is one. We have to wake up, plain and simple.

Trojans Foil FIU
Troy Walks To a Win 41-28
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/Jman215/matchupwk7fiu.jpg

"A win is always nice but that 3-3 mark still bugs the hell outta me", said Coach Miles after the win against FIU on Saturday. The Trojans pretty much controlled the tempo of the entire game thanks to a break out passing performance by Gary Banks who went for 347 yards through the air and 2 TD's whils still rushing for 117 and 1 TD as well. The Troy defense was also on fire during the game holding FIU to 302 yards of total offense and a staggering -4 yards rushing on the day...but of course FIU did come into the game averaging only 72 rishing yards a game. A bright spot for FIU however was the performance of their quarterback Josh Patrick who hurled for 197 yards and 2 TD's on the day. With this win pulling them to .500 for the season Coach Miles and company hope to get on a roll starting with a beatable UL Monroe team next week on the road.

Heh, well...I'll sure as hell take this one, its definitely something we needed after the last few weeks. Hopefully the fella's will wake up and realize their potential now and I won't have so many damn migraines hehe. The game was good for us though, anytime you give up only 302 yards of offense your defense was on and that is obvious because, of the Saint Bernard (Brian Davis) and his 8 tackle and 3 sack performance. But, we cant fail to mention how well Gary (Banks) is playing right now, anytime a QB throws for 347 and 2 scores is beautiful, but add 117 rushing and a score it becomes rediculous...I often have to pinch myself at the realization that he's only a freshman...special.

Overtime CHOKE!
Monroe 'Upsets' Coach Miles and Company 34-41 in OT

In what many people considered to be a pretty sure win for Troy and Coach Miles against the University of Louisiana Monroe turned out to be an overtime choke fest for the Trojans instead. Despite giving up onty 247 yards of offense to UL Monroe and racking up 592 yards themselves, the Trojans also made the uncanny mistake of committing 5 turnovers. "I'm just going to stop guessing if we can win," said Coach Miles after the game, "We can play like geniuses one game and have the biggest upside in the world but then the next game not know our asses from a hole in the ground." Despite a valiant effort by Gary Banks that put his team into overtime after trailing all the way to the fourth quarter, a fumble on their first OT possession by the previously 'sure-handed' Kenny Cattouse cost them the ball game. Another kiss of death earlier in the game was 2 kick returns for TD's given up to UL Monroe's Mitchell totalling 196 yards (a 101yd and 95yd). Thankfully for coach Miles next week entails a bye week for the Trojans before facing off against UL Lafayette.

Another day, another dissapointment for the team and for the Coaching staff. We have to get some discipline and stop making stupid mistakes through turnovers and especially special teams lapses, to hold a team to 247 yards yet lose despite putting up 592 yards yourseld indicates a problem. Thankfully the bye week is here, but the kids are sure as hell gonna wish it wasn't...

This is second sit-down interview of the Head Coach of the Troy Trojans James Miles with myself Butch Darwin. In our interviews we continue to get a feel for the pulse of Trojan football and everything surrounding it as well.

Q: Well Coach, finally a bit of time to talk with the bye week and all...

Yeah, finally a little time to get into contact with humanity of the outside world haha...

Q: Not a bad start to the year for you but of course not as good as you would have liked to be sitting...

Obviously we would indeed....I take that back, we should indeed be sitting alot better than our current 3-4 record is but you have to roll with the punches. With North Texas and Middle Tennessee playing the way that they are 1 more loss will likely put us out of a chance at a bowl bid...we'd end up 3rd in the Sun-Belt and 6-5 presumably....not impressive to the bowls at all...

Q: Coach, the move of Banks to QB met alot of contreversy but know it seems everyone has been shut-up..

Yeah, I walked into practice one day and just saw him winging 50 yard bombs to Cray and Hampton and was sold on him from then on, but he was a bit reluctant. It's amazing the way he has played despite the record, he should close in on 1,000 rushing and over 2,000 passing as a freshman...the future is bright.

Q: So, are you happy with the staff since you made no changes when you came in?

I'm not gonna get into that here, we've got four games left and our offense and defense are both statistically top 10 in the nation...ask me after the seasons over and done.

Q: Thanks again for your time Coach, we look forward to our next sit down sometime after the Middle Tennessee game...

Thanks Butch, always a pleasure.

Four Quarter Knockout!
Troy Bounds Back after Bye Week: Win 83-21
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/Jman215/matchupwk10lafayette.jpg

If everything we saw in the brutal manhandling of the University of Louisiana Lafayette by Coach Miles is indicative of what the last three games of the season will hold for the Trojans then some records are likely to fall. After a sluggish 10-7 score after the first quarter you could visually see the rust begin to fall off after the bye week putting up 73 points in the next three quarters. Gary Banks pushed himself even closer to the 2500/1000 yard mark after throwing for 300 yards and 5 Touchdowns as well as 204 yards rushing and 3 Touchdowns that way...he simply did it all. The offense managed to put up 830 yards while the Trojan defense made a Lafayette team look like highschoolers holding them to 316 yards and -15 yards rushing. "We showed some piss and vinegar today, we needed this if we want any chance whatsoever to make a bowl...but we still need two more to lock up a winning year and that huge" said Miles at today's press conference at Troy University. Next week the Torjans look to move to 5-4 if they can muster a win at Florida Atlantic.

Still running the 'bone as my main running formation but only the wishbone normal formation, and I don't do alot of option out of it either mostly ALOT of power running, when I lost my 2nd string back I had to pull back off of it a bit though....

Mainly its made up as....

Bone Normal
I Normal
I Twins
Ace Normal
Ace Y Trips
Gun Normal
Gun Spread
Gun Y Trips

Cant think of the rest off the top of my head, after this season I'm likely to change it a bit (less ace) but for now I'm sticking to the storyline...

Big win for us, granted UL Lafayette isn't the most talented team in the conference but they were picked to beat us at the start of the year so I'll take it. This win also pulled us up to 4-4 on the year and hunting for that 5-win mark I predicted but I sure hope I was wrong and we can pull off 6 or even 7...with the way we played its possible if we keep it up. Gary Banks played b-e-a-utifully once again with his 8 scores, I think I've finally got it through to him that we are going to go as far as HE takes us this season as well as in the future because he is the future. Defensively I was very pleased and the special teams held their own this week as well, but now the focus moves to Florida Atlantic and win number 5...

Cattouse Did Just Enough/Banks Went Crazy on FAU/Cray Literally Caught Fire

"We'll take this one," said Coach Miles on Saturday, "This definitely puts us where we want to be for the last two games, we pull these off then we could be going bowling." With the way Troy has played the last two games the possibility of winning out for them could be very real. Gary Banks again led the way for the offense with his 339 yard passing, 111 yards rushing and 3 total touchdowns on the day. Defensively it was another day and another Davis performance as his defence stiffled FAU to 297 yards on the day despite the fact that they were averaging 493 yards a game coming into Saturday. The performance was a huge thing not just because of the win, but because there were three recruits in the stands. Next week Coach Miles and company travel to take on Arkansas State in their next to last game of the year.

Another good win for us, two in a row is huge especially when you have recruits in the stands on an official visit. Gary was great as usual and really picked up the slack despite Cattouse being shut-down for the most part of the day. Our offense keeps clicking and the defense is playing great going into the last two games. Sorry not so much talk...lots of preperation to do.

Trojan Heartbreak
Banks Injured - Trojans Lose 21-33
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/Jman215/matchupwk12asu.jpg

As the post game press conference started Coach Miles fires a pre-emptive attack on the press concerning the million dollar question of Gary Banks not returning to the game by stating, "Look, first off all we know is that by the way I saw him go down we ruled to sit him, Gary is undergoing tests an we will know something later...period...end of discussion. Second this loss hurts and I never point fingers of blame toward a player but after another confrontation and 3 INT's on 3 straight throws I think I could..." That which he is referencing would be the entry of Dockery into the game, it was almost a deja vu situation of the last time...errant throws, check...starting confrontation with your coach, check...possibly losing you roster spot, BIG check. After Banks went down grasping his shoulder in the fourth things unravled offensively despite Davis and the defense giving Troy thr ball back down only five with a chance to drive and win. Unfortunately Cattouse had another bad day with only 55 yards and Dockery threw 3 picks on 3 throws in 3 straight posessions. Things have gone from a possible 7-4 end for the year to looking like 5-6 instead, we'll see.

This obviously HURTS to swallow, there is still no definite news on Banks yet but Dockery looks like he's going to get ONE more chance in the game against Mid Tennessee, a last one if you will. We better get a run game going this next game though because our defense is worn ragged and though we won't make a bowl by going 6-5 we can salvage a winning season and know Mid Tennesse the hell out of the bowl hunt.

Things have just gotten even more bleek for the Trojans and Coach Miles with the announcement that Gary Banks will not be returning to the field this season and is scheduled for surgery today. "The final cerdict is that Gary tore his shoulder muscle in his non throwing arm with the hit that he went down on against Arkansas State," explained Coach Miles, "He will have surgery but should make a return during spring ball, this one obviously hurts but we still have one more game to play." With the announcement also came the news that Dockery will get just his third start of the year and one last chance to impress Coach Miles and company.

Storybook End to the Year
Troy Upsets Middle Tennessee in OT 26-20
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/Jman215/matchupwk13midtenn.jpg

"I love this team," said Coach Miles after the OT thriller to end their season, "There isnt a better way to end a year than to pull one like this in the midst of losing our starting quarterback." It was said from the start that this was Doackery's last chance to impress after his two sideline run-ins with Coach Miles and 4 INT's in his last two appearances but he made good today throwing for 267 and 2 TD's as well. On top of Dockery coming through Cattouse had another good game after two consecutive sub-par outings as he rushed for 142 yards and 1 TD. It was overall a very tight game with only 20 yards of offense seperating the two teams but senior perfomances by the linebackers Davis and Johnson made the key stop in overtime to win it for the Trojans. Now its a waiting game for the trojans although a bowl is unlikely with their 3rd place Sun-Belt finish.

Trojans Not Going Bowling
6-5 3rd Place Conference Finish Just Not Enough

"Its not the way we wanted to go out but I thank the tenacity of this senior class for not quitting and for pushing us to a winning season which is a massive building block for the future" said Coach Miles in todays press conference where it was also announced that the school will retain his services but not offer a new contract. The Trojans finished the season at 6-5 and in third in the Sun-Belt Conference, it was without a doubt a successfull campaign that would have likely been different without the season ending injuries to Marlo East and Gary Banks...but there's always next year, and things look bright.

Troy to Join the Battered Eastern Division

Coach Miles stated, when introducing the news, "This is a huge move for the program ad well as the school, a bigger conference means more legitimacy, better competition, more publicity, a conference championship game, and more than one team from the conference with the ability to make a bowl. Don't get me wron we know this is going to be a rough transition but the team and I are looking forward to forming new rivalries and moving on." The move was a bit of a shocker as they were called in to replace UCF despite finishing 3rd in the Sun-Belt themselves. This will without a doubt make things more interesting if nothing else.

75 Tackles, 25 TFL, 10 Sacks, 1 INT, 5 FF, and 1 FR
8-Time Team Defensive Player of the Week
1-Time Sun-Belt Defensive Player of the Week

"This one could have gone one of two ways," said Coach Miles, "But Bernard was on the field every single game and definitely deserves this. Even though it may not be a national award it's a big deal for the team and thats what BD was all about this year...the team. He's gonna be a great asset to some team in the NFL." Although many expected freshman wideout/quarterback Gary Banks to recieve the accolade, Davis getting it is just as well deserved, he reaked havoc all year from his Ollie linebacker spot and was the true heart of the Trojan defense.

Vince Young Taken #1 Overall
Draft Fails to See Any Troy Trojans Go
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/Jman215/NFLNUM1PICKSEASON1.jpg

Well, the madness of the 2006 NFL draft has come and gone once again with there being no real suprise of Texas' Vince Young being the number one overall draft choice to the Denver Broncos this season. One suprise for everyone in Troy however is the fact that Troy standout Outside Linebacker Bernard Davis and Cornerback Johnny Faulk were not taken by anyone. Faulk has declared he will be moving on to the CFL while Davis plans on returning to school in Troy for further education.

Here are the first 5 picks of this years draft:

Vince Young--QB--Texas--Denver Broncos
Michael Huff--SS--Texas--Oakland Raiders
D'Brickshaw Ferguson--LT--UVA--San Francisco 49ers
Abdul Hodge--MLB--Iowa--Chicago Bears
Chad Greenway--ROLB--Iowa--New Orleans Saints

Bernard was THE heart and sould of our defense, the fact that we lose his impact presence leaves a huge void for us on the defensive side of the ball. Though he was not named to any of the All-American teams (a true travesty) it is obviously hard to lose your teams MVP no matter the other accolades.

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/Jman215/GRADUATEOLMSTEAD2.jpg
I was graced to come into a team that had exacly what an upstart program has to have no matter what, a good punter. As much as out offense stalled Olm served as a useful tool for giving our defense good field position to get us the ball back, more big shoes to fill.

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/Jman215/GRADUATEFAULK3.jpg
Just as much as Davis led the defense, Johnny Faulk was there as well. He led a secondary full of ball sharks that helped make the system metamophisis alot easier, though not going to the NFL directly, I'm sure he'll make it there through the CFL and get his shot.

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/Jman215/GRADUATELANKFORD4.jpg
Bring on the meat. Torre was the rock on the defensive line that was definitely one of our strongets positions on the football field and deserves alot of the credit for Johnson and Davis' success at the linebacker spot this season.

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/Jman215/GRADUATEEDWARDS5.jpg
[sze=3]When all else failed I always knew we could run the ball behind James and get at leas one damn yard. He made the offensive transition alot easier by leading by example to most of our young bucks. There was always a sense of control and ease in the huddle for our backfield knowing you had someone who loved the game leading the way.[/size]

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/Jman215/GRADUATEJOHNSON6.jpg
Leverne served as the second half of our tandem at the linebakcer spot that finished as our teams two leading tacklers. He was the man in the middle game in and game out, practice in and practice out. LJ wasnt the most vocal guy on the defense like Bernard but he'd sure as hell lay a lick. Another huge hole for us to fill.

Recruiting Breakdown
Overall alot better class than I expected. I pride myself on in-state recruits and I'll be damned if 13 out of our 15 signees aren't from Alabama with the other two from Georgian and Florida respectively. We actually managed the number 37 recruiting class in the nation and since we are returning alot from next year we built up some solid depth. I'm unbelievably excited about our secondary now, we are going to have 3 very good freshmen come in and, likely, start for us. Also Ben Davis should be a great replacement of the loss of James Edwards at DT. Things look bright.

Coach Miles Names 2006 Trojan Starters

Offense
"You'll see alot of familiar faces on this side of the football," said Coach Miles during yesterdays announcements of the 2006 Trojan starters, "With the exception of losing one offensive lineman we return all 12 other starters." The Trojans are locked, cocked, and ready to rock, especially with Gary Banks officially making the move to Quarterback and returning 1100 yards rusher Kenny Cattouse in the backfield. We will undoubtedly see the benifits of a full season and off-season under their belts in Coach Miles offense, an offense that loast year was one of the top 10 in the entire nation. A stirdy offensive line will provide alot of unity as they are made up of 4 senior/returning starters and 1 true freshman that may be the only question mark. This should undoubtedly be a high-impact offense for Troy's first season in Conference USA.

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/Jman215/Starters1Offseason2.jpg

Defense
When asked about the defensive side of thing Coach Miles hesitantly replied "This is the side of the ball where the most intrigue still lies, there are currently scheduled to be 6 true freshmen starting along with only one senior. We'll either be very solid or very ugly." As Coach Miles stated there are alot of freshmen all over the Trojan defense, there are 2 linebackers coming in that are freshmen, 2 defensive tackles that are fresmen, and 2 cornerbacks that are also freshmen. The biggest question will be the lack of the Davis and Johnson combonation at linebacker that will have to be made up by the Condren and Martin combonation at the safeties. Overall when one thinks about it, they just have to get the offense on the field enough to outscore the opponents.

Question about the mechanics of this. I'm not even sure how to ask. The splitter goes into the laptop ... uh .. how? Secondly, how do you create the jaw-dropping roster?

And what a beautiful way to show the starters. Awesome.

Lol, ok, here goes...

The s-video from the PS2 plugs into the splitter (which is powered/buffered to not lose signal strength) THEN one cable runs from the splitter to the TV and the other to the Capture Device (the ATI) 12ft away and the Device to the USB on my PC so I can have botth screens (TV and laptop) running the game at the same time and capture images on the PC while playing on the TV...hope that helps.

As far as the roster it's one of my excel templates I've worked up...makes my life easier than doing the whole thing in code like I started to in the first dynasty I ever did.

Glad you like the starters, I owe credit to Hellisan from maddenmania for the idea...I think its a fun way to show things.

Thank You for reading.

This is our first interview with the Head Coach of the Troy Trojans James Miles this season with myself Butch Darwin. As always, in our interviews we hope to get a feel for the pulse of Trojan football and everything surrounding it as well.

Q: Well coach, yet another year is upon us.

Yeah and I'm ready to get this thing kicking, thats for damn sure.

Q: A big move for the team and university to the C-USA this season from the Sun-Belt, why make the move?

I think last season explains why in itself, only one team from the Sun-Belt typically makes a bowl, the conference champion. Hell, last year we ended 6-5 and Mid Tennessee ended 7-4 but were noit eligible for a bowl because of being in a lower tier conference. In C-USA we know a winning year can get us in and there's a 12th game through having a championship game. Overall, it was great for us and the conference as well by giving us a bigger stage and letting them inject some more youth into the eastern division.

Q: Coach, you had a heckuva recruiting class, your thoughts?

We were definitely blessed with alot of talent that are going to get immediate playing time, particularly on the defensive side of the ball. We managed to get people in for all of our needs, thou obviously its a reach trying to get any freshman who could come close to replacing a Bernard Davis but we're pleased nonetheless.

Q: So, what's your outlook on this season then?

We feel really good about the upcoming year. Granted, we kick off with two ranked teams in Washington and Florida...who I inparticularly think has a helluva shot at a national championship. I'm very happy about starting off with the challenge of those games for us to see where we're at and from there we very well could run the table and end up with 8 or 9 wins and a spot in the C-USA championship game to be honest...if not cocky hehe.

Q: OK Coach, just one last question, what is the status of your staff?

Well Butch there are alot of wholesale changes being made and we have a press conference scheduled for tomorrow to announce it so you'll have to wait till then.

Q: Best of luck on the upcoming year coach and we'll hopefully get to chat again around week 13.

Thanks Butch, I look forward to it..

Coach Miles Announces 2006 Staff
Wholesale Changes Coming to the Trojan Sidelines

"Well everyone, I'm going to get right into it," said Coach Miles at the start of yesterdays press conference, "To start off I am going to retain control of the offense as lead coordinator and quarterbacks coach but am bringing on Lance Hoggatt as my associate offensive coordinator and recievers coach. Also, I'm bringing in Lloyd 'The Dog' Wertman as my line coach. Defensively speaking John Plunk and Duty Hancock will be co-defensive coordinators and associate head coaches as well. The linebackers coach is a bit of a shocker though hehe, its going to be Bernard Davis at the helm with our young linebacking core. Special teams will fall to Bobby Holmes. Other assistants and memebers of the staff will be hired soon." Miles went on to add that "These were changes that I had to make to form the team into MY style and team, our staff last year did a great job but I simply felt it could have been better, and you have to have people behind you that you KNOW have your back and arent out for your job." Things are definitely heating up going into the season for the Trojans and Coach Miles.

Coach Miles Names 2006 Troy Trojan Captains

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/Jman215/06captains.jpg

Coach James Miles has named the team captains for the 2006 Troy Trojan football squad. On the defensive side of the ball, the honor is going to fall to redshirt senior Brandon Condren who is one of only 4 hard hitters returning from last seasons top 10 ranked defensive squad. Offensively it is all about the junior Kenny Cattouse who last year was the Trojan leading rusher and anchor to the teams offense and should very well eclipse 1500 yards this season. Overall there were no suprises to who Coach Miles deemed the leadership roles and it is obviously the correct and popular decision.

Brown Forces a Turnover/ Banks Leaps/ Cray Snags 1 of 3 TD's/ Washingtons Morris is Crushed

"There was never a doubt in my mind we were going for two with 18 seconds left," said Coach Miles, "I grew up with the mindset that yout tie at home and win on the road...and thats damn well what we did." That is exactly what Troy did by way of THE gutsiest play call of Coach James Miles short carreer he rolled the dice and came up money with the Banks to Cattouse option. Coming out of the half down 17 points Coach Miles seemingly opened up the playbook and the youth filled Trojan defense came alive as well forcing 2 second half turnovers that the offense cashed in immediately for touchdowns. The Trojan offense was led by the sophomore Banks and his 330 passing yards but not nearly as much as Kenny Cattouse's 193 yard 2 TD ground performance. After 645 total yards of offense there has to be no better way to start a football season...at least no more exciting way.

Heh, if you would have told me we'd take #16 Washington to the brink in the first game of the season and then knock them off...I'd have said that sounded good. This was obviously th biggest win of my regime but I hope it doesnt get to our heads with a national title contender up as our next opponent. Offensively we were dynamite after the first quarter got over and we just relaxed, Banks threw well despite the interceptions and Cattouse was money as usual. Defensively the youth was well served and played well above par when they had to. This one feels good. Oh, and tie at home, win on the road...period.

No Suprise
Troy Puts Up a Fight: Outclassed 5-24
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/Jman215/matchupwk3florida06.jpg

When asked about the loss Coach Miles responded with "That team is special, when they get Coach Meyer's system down to a T they are going to be scary." Despite the score Coach Miles and company gave Florida alot closer game than they ever expected to have to endure from a team who just joined little ole Conference-USA. "This is without a doubt the craziest atmosphere I have ever played in and it obviously threw my game into the toilet, but thats no excuse for how I played" stated Trojan quarterback Gary Banks who was in a funk the entire game throwing for only 193 yards with 3 interceptions and no scores. A bright spot was the play of Kenny Cattouse against a power conference team as he managed to put up 93 yards on the ground for the day. Overall though the deciding factor was the 5 to 1 turnover ratio, you cant win if you cant hold on to the ball.

I'm really not shocked on this one and I take it as one of those bullshit moral victories you always hear coaches talking about. We played an amazing squad to only 318 yards of total offense and only lost by 19 with our 5 stupid turnovers. Gary did the biggest thing I've seen a sophomore do by taking the loss on his shoulders like he should have. The Swamp is undeniably loud and we're too inexperienced at playing in those types of venues, it was good for us but we have to rebound and not get caught with our pants down.

Here are our POW's...

That's right. No bullshit moral victories. [laugh]

That 53-52 win reminded me (badly) of the 54-51 UMich/NW game a few years ago. [down] That's exciting football!

This is an enjoyable read, my friend.

Troy Collapses After Banks Injury
Falls on Own Face After Taking 14-0 Lead: Lose 24-31 in OT

Richardson Forces a Fumble / Marlo East Goes for 6

After two great performances against ranked oponenets, eben going so far as to know one off of their pedestal, the Troy Trojans and Coach Mile looked poised to win before blowing their 14-0 lead and inevitably falling in overtime. Up until the injury of Gary Banks the Trojans were clicking and on top of the injury, Kenny Cattouse was held to an astoundingly dissapointing 76 yards rushing when the option combonation of Banks/Cattouse was shut down with Banks' injury. Yet again the key culprit appeared to be the fact that the Troy Trojans committed 2 turnovers while not forcing any from the Thundering Herd of Marshall. Coach Miles was unavailable for comment after the game and is undoubtedly trying to shape his team into form to face former Sun-Belt opponent University of Louisiana Lafayette next week.

Not a whole lot to say about this one...obviously. I just dont like the fact that we are so built around one player that when he goes down we shut down ourselves like the world is over. We are vastly talented and need to play like that with or without Gary in the backfield leading us at the helm. I dunno, maybe I need to seek a new direction through recruiting after this season...if the TD/INT ratio doesnt get better he could find himself back at reciever next season. We must get better, the defense is wearing down and injuries in the secondary/o-line are getting to us and it worries me...

Trojans Lose Thibodeaux
Troy Battered and Bruised With 3 Starters Out

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/Jman215/06week5injury.jpg

Coach Miles and the Troy Trojans are battered and bruised heading into week five of the 2006 season, particularly in the secondary. Troy will be without the services of their starting freshman cornerback Henderson as well as the Nickleback junior McKelvin for the next week which doesnt bode well for the young secondary. However, the most hurtful injury was last week to freshman starting right tackle Jerimiah Thibodeaux for eleven weeks due to a dislocated shoulder. To counteract the injury the word around the Trojan camp is their will be shuffling of the offensive line rather than Thibodeaux's direct backup getting the starts.

having two corners out like that probably drags your secondary down...good thing those aren't long-term injuries.

We'll Take It
Trojans Hold On for a 38-31 Win Over the Cajuns

Ford Skies for a Tip/ Martin Makes a Pick/ Banks Gives to East for a Big Gain/ Martin Makes ANOTHER Pick

No matter how they managed to get it, the Troy Trojans and Coach Miles will gladly take their 38-31 win over Louisiana Lafayette as it managed to snap their two game losing streak. After the game Coach Miles commented that "We needed the win, but we still gave up 417 yards of offense to a team we pasted 83 on last season...yes injuries killed our secondary but those behind the hurt have to step up and play either way you look at it." Gary Banks managed to sling for 335 yards and a TD along with the senior Marlo East rushing for 100 and a TD. Together East and Banks were just enough to make the Ragin Cajuns of Lafayette forget all about the fact that they knocked the Trojans star Kenny Cattouse out of the game in the first quarter after only 3 carries for 8 yards on the day. Overall the Trojans did everything they had to in order to pull off the win, including a rare occurance this season of forcing more turnovers than they committed. Up next a matchup with the struggling Memphis Tigers who are still search
