rely on the fast break as their entire offense?
Because that is what I am getting out of this game.
Despite teh ridiculous missed dunks/layups, I am managing to give up about 25-35 points per game just off teh fast break.
And this is not just against team like Tennessee and Louisville, this is against every team I face.
The sliders I am using don't really favor the hast break for the CPU that much, so how do I calm it down? I know to turn downb crash boards, but that has not helped much.

In the team stats breakdown, are the actual "fast break" points equaling between 25 to 35 points just about every game? I usually get less than 15 from the cpu on average. If a team has a lot of speed (usually the sign of a good team that should score in transition a lot), I will tend to give up more.
My only advice right now would be to take control of the SG as often as you can when a shot goes up so that you can get a second guy back on D to help out the PG. There's not a whole lot you can do slider-wise to change a team's amount of fast breaks with the exception of lowering the cpu's speed rating. But that would drastically alter the entire rest of the gameplay. Just making sure, but human should be at 9 and cpu should be at 8 for the speed slider; I found out how huge a difference this makes when I forgot to equal the sides out in a user vs user game.

yeah. they are getting at least 25 fast break points. The most I ever gave up was 42 against Arkansas, in a game I managed to win however because they went about 6 minutes in the second half with only one basket.
I think my problem is my offensive set.
I have the PG at the top of the key, SG and SF on the wings, and high post/low post with my big men.
I have about 6 set plays I run and most of those involve a high post pick, and a kickout, so if the shot is missed, my whole team is packed in the paint, which leads to easy run outs.

simple answer, stop taking so many 3's.

Is your offense up tempo or fast break? I find when I run the fast break a lot, the computer tends to echo that. They play to my speed it seems. If I slow it down, they will too. It's probably because when I play uptempo, I turn the ball over a lot, which leads to easy points, but it's still something to consider.

No, my ofense is very slow, I tend to use at least 15-18 seconds of the shot clock every time down court.
And Chase, I don't take that many threes, however they seem to break off of nearly every missed shot.
It seems like every time I shoot, both of their guards taje off down the court.

Yeah, I had that problem until I did 2 things. I changed the speed slider to 9 for me and 8 for them. Then I went to my coaching screen and took down offensive crash boards which increases transition defense. By doing this I now give up very, very few fast breaks and I am a guy that likes to penetrate with my guards and shoot from the wings with my SG. (SG Take)
One other thing... when you miss be sure to take a guard (I typically take the PG) and speed burst him back down court to play D. This really helps.

yeah, I am an idiot, I just saw that damn transition defense coaching slider, I lowered that and the crazy fast breaks went away. I still give up some fast breaks, but it is not the basis of the CPU's offense.

Yeah, it makes all the difference. This combined with the speed alteration makes the game really fair. I now get a lot more fast breaks because of all my superior talent at Duke. I have one final year of dominance coming then the mass exit to the NBA. Something to note, while my second recruiting class was WAY better than my first on paper, by far my biggest team contributors come out of the first class. I think that is kinda cool. My SF and SG both are in my first ever class... both super freaks. I am yet to see a SG like him since so maybe I just got REALLY lucky.

I was having some trouble with this too. Played my cousin three times as Notre Dame [he was Arizona] and it seemed he got fast breaks every single possession. No matter what I did Hassan Adams or another guy would be wide open for an easy dunk. I guess I'll have to try and adjust the sliders.
