21. Ohio State- 288
22. Denver- 284
23. Loyola- 231
24. Rutgers- 192
25. Bucknell- 174

Hopkins lost a lot of seniors, but returns Jake Byrne and Kevin Huntley on attack, Paul Rabil and Greg Peyser at midfield, and Matt Pinto on defense and Jesse Schwartzman in goal. It looks like their attack is the strong spot. Joe Benson is also a good player at midfield and can play attack.

As far as UNC goes. Losing Jed Prossner is huge. However, Bryant Will and Lance Zimmerman were also solid contributors for 4 years. Stephen McElduff is our top returning defenseman and a pre-season all-american. Tim Kaiser is a very solid #2 but the 3rd spot is up for grabs. People really need to step up at midfield and attack and I suspect that a lot of freshmen will play.

If Duke can find a replacement for Aaron Fenton at goalie, they will be very tough to beat this year. The high scoring attack unit of Matt Danowski(probably the best player in the country), Zach Greer, and Dan Flannery returns, as well as well as a good core of players in the midfield and defense that helped take the team to the national championship game last year.

Now the big question, will AIC (http://www.aic.edu) win a game in 2006? I say no.

I think Danowski was much more effective his freshman year before people figured out how to shut him off. However, he will still be a scoring threat. Duke returns a lot of good players.

Well, considering how he led the nation in points last year, I don't think anyone has figured how to shut him off.

Actually, he would have had a lot more points than that. I saw him score 6 goals in the first half of a game as a freshman.

Hopefully, the Tar Heels will come out focused this season and actually do something on the field.

UNC has 2 scrimmages on Saturday morning. Should be a good time. We don't have a home game until late in March which is very odd. That's a long time to wait to see lacrosse so I'll be excited for the scrimmages.

UNC dominated in their scrimmages which was expected. There was a huge brawl in the second scrimmage which was pretty cool.

Damn, never realized we were THAT good at lacrosse. I do have a cousin though who is currently a junior in HS down in Potomac, MD and is kicking ass for his team down there (a few D1 schools are after him) so I have thus started paying a little more attention to this intriguing sport.

It's an awesome sport. This past year it had the #3 attendance for a collegiate national champioship behind football and basketball. I'd say within 5 years they'll be selling out the pro football stadiums.

The only problem is that title 9 is limiting the growth to about 130 Division-1 schools. If they ever find a way around that, the number of D-1 schools will explode. If that had been the case 2 years ago, I'd have had several division-1 scholarship offers.

There is a huge potential for revenue in this sport, they just have to start exploiting it.

I'm going to that March 18th UNC @ Duke game. The HS team I help coach is taking a trip up during Spring Break to play a some North Carolina and Tennessee teams. Should be fun. I'd expect Duke to be pretty dominant this year.

I can't remember the exact names off the top of my head, I'd have to check. I think one is Durham Academy or Durham Latin or something. Another is from Raleigh, and I think there's one more from Charlotte. The Tennessee team we're playing is McCallie, who we played and beat back when I was playing.

Durham Academy was the premier team in North Carolina along with Charlotte Country Day up until 2 years ago. The other teams have caught up now and the field is more level although the competition has dropped off slightly from 2 years ago. McCallie should be good.

Yeah, on second thought I'm not sure if it's Durham Academy or not. That name may have just stuck out in my head because I know they're good and I've heard of them before. I'm pretty sure one of the teams we're playing has a kid committed to UNC.

Well that doesn't mean much. UNC reguarly takes about 2 NC kids a year onto the team that are a lot less quality than the typical D1 recruit.

It turns out that Charlotte-Latin and Durham Jordan are the NC teams we're playing. I don't think they'll be too tough, McCallie should be the biggest challenge.

Charlotte Latin won the private school NC State Championship last year. It was the first year in the state's history that either Durham Academy or Charlotte Country Day hadn't won. I think they lost a lot of their players though. Durham Jordan is consistently in the top 10 public school teams. I'd say both will be a challenge and McCallie will be the best of the three.

So, do you have "some" friends or "one" friend that plays for Hopkins. You used both plural and singular nouns in your sentence.

Maryland won, 8-7, in overtime. This Duke team is good, but they definitely aren't the same club as last year, at least not yet. Maryland had a really good gameplan, and did an excellent job shutting off Duke's fast break. To hold Duke to 7 goals is quite a feat, and they did it by making it a half court game, and defending Matt Danowski very well. Duke's biggest question mark this year is in goal, but Dan Loftus looked pretty solid, and made 20 saves Saturday. One thing Duke didn't do well was clear the ball quickly after a save to spark the fast break offense. There were way too many turnovers in the defensive half of the field. Maryland is a very good team, and definitely a title contender in my book.

UNC got slaughtered by Penn tonight. It was embarassing. Futhermore, my old high school got embarassed 17-3 by another school in the city which we used to slaughter when I was there. I'm pissed that those kids tarnished by legacy like that.

The Heels lose again today. This team is horrible. Atleast I'm the only one that realized Ryan Blair blew before this season began. I was always surprised at how much he was hyped up. He's nothing with Prossner getting double teamed and feeding him the ball.
