There are a few GLARING problems that noone has thought to bring up.
1. The Shot Stick. Taking the iso-motion stick out to put this in is a joke. Taking out the iso-motion stick has basically made guys like Rajon Rondo and Shannon Brown worthless, in fact it made every slasher worthless, because it is near impossible to beat a man off the dribble with the weak ass way you do crossovers now.
2. Fast Breaks are ridiculous. There are way too many. Real basketball does not have a fast break off of every missed shot. It's just stupid.
those are just two things that really stick out to me, but I know there are others.
Also, I do love this game, however I am struggling with it right now, anyone that could give me any hints on how to A) play solid defense and B) create a real offense. That would be excellent.

The biggest thing you can do to stop the fast break is go to your coach settings and lower the crash boards slider. Put it to the left, around near the first hash mark. That way your players get back on D.
Personally, I like the way the controls are this year, though, in NBA 2k6 the shot stick works a LOT better. If you push it to the right, you do a right handed layup. In College Hoops, it seems to just do a layup. Rarely do I see it do the layup I want. As far as the crossovers, I like the way it is in this year's game much better than last. The only thing is I haven't figured out how to do a spin move yet. Anyone get that? I heard it was R1, then move the left stick in a quick circle, but I end up doing a behind the back dribble. *shrugs*
On D, since the comp likes to take the best 3-shooter and shoot about 15 3's with him, most of which they make, I usually take whoever is suppose to guard him and try and deny the ball. Make someone else shoot. If they pass to him, don't go for the steal, unless you know for sure you'll get it, just wait on the 3 and jump with him. Most of the time you can block it or at least make it a lot harder.

LikeWhoa's sliders will take care of the 3 point thing, you should check them out. I have only played about 7 games with them, but they are pretty good.
So how do you handle 1 on 1 situations?
(Since I know you are using UK as well) There has been many times where I have had Rondo 1 one 1 with an inferior defender, and I cannot get by him because I don't know how to properly use the crossover and spins and such.
Anyway, any advice you can give me on using Rondo better would be much appreciated. He is way too highly rated to be the guy who passes the ball to Morris and Sparks.

You just have to try and connect moves together and experiment. Go to practice mode and and try Full Court Iso in the drills. It will help you. Also, using the protect ball with the crossover button (L and R if you're on XBox) will give more moves. To do a spinmove, you have to use both protect ball and crossover, otherwise it will do behind the back.

Actually I've been using Stony Brook in my career legacy. I've played with the Cats a couple times and I know how you felt about Rondo. He's really good, but not really on the offensive side of the ball. I think I usually ran pick and rolls. No one can keep up with him if you get a good pick.

The little hesitation step with the aggressive button and then a crossover is killer. I just take cats to school with it. And the fake one spin go back is nice too. I have guys who can straight up ball off the dribble. Mostly you need patience. Does Rando break someone down every time? nope. Also look at their D. Are they in a zone? Hows the opponents D. Just a few things to consider.

The best move in the paint is the spin jump stop (R1 + triangle). The best move in the open court is the behind the back (R1 + quick half circle from one side to the other). The fake spin move works well too, although sometimes I have trouble doing it (usually it will just do the actual spin move instead). That's all I can remember off the top of my head.

There is also a nice jump stop move that involves the L1 button. Anyone know how to do it correctly?

I know what you mean. I use Nova, and Lowry and even Foye to an extent should be able to go at will to the basket. One thing I like to do is have the ball at the top of the key. Create an iso with a play, then on Xbox I hesitate with the agressive, then I crossover with both L and R, usually get by him then I pro hop with Y (Xbox alternate controls) and if I am clear to the side I will spin under the basket, if i need seperation I hold R, and hit Y and back and you will pro hop back. Usually this will draw another defender to me, and I can kick it out for a nice three, or if I have the seperation, Ill take the J. Otherwise you sometimes get that awkward layup where he will take it to one side and then switch hands while in the air. I think thats a dumb move and I never see that in real life.

you mean the behind the back? im not sure, I kinda want to know to. I know the half spin is L and R and half spin the stick.

The XBox version is to hold R and move the joystick from your ball hand to your free hand in a circular motion. It might take a few tries, but it usually works.

I've been trying to work on 1 on 1 moves that could boost my offense. It seems like offline and online, I run my halfcourt offense by passing the ball and the post game.
