-- This will be my first NCAA dynasty on these forums. I was registered a while ago but couldn't use any images then, so I didn't feel starting a dynasty. But it turns out I can use images now :p So here is my dynasty. But why Florida International? Well, I want a challenge and there is no fun in playing with a 6 star program. So I was thinking, I can eather use a random 1 star program team or I can use the last team on the Preseason 119 list, which would probably be a pretty bad team, turns out that is Florida International. So, I decided to go with Florida International. Should be a challenge, I have a 1 star coach and a 1 star program. Thankfully the academic prestige is four stars, so maybe that should get me some players. Still, FIU only started their football program back in 2002, so I guess I have some building to do.

http://i.tsn.com/i/p/l/col/floridainternational-tnl.gif RECRUITING: I'm not allowed to pursue 5* or 4* players because of my 1* program. I may only pursue 3* recruits who are from local states/territories, or from Pipeline States. If there are not enough local 3* recruits to fill the 12-player quota, I may pursue any 4* players from my home state, or from any Pipeline States, or 3* players from other states, until the quota has been filled. Also I may not recruit more players than I have spots for. I borrowed these rules from Evil Dade out of his GameFAQs.com Recruiting FAQ.
http://i.tsn.com/i/p/l/col/floridainternational-tnl.gif RED-SHIRTING: All true freshman will be red-shirted. But if they are required to play because of a lack of players they won't be red-shirted.
http://i.tsn.com/i/p/l/col/floridainternational-tnl.gif GAME SCHEDULE: For now I'll just use the standard schedule of the Golden Panthers. Maybe in the upcoming seasons I will add/remove/change the games.

Next season, the Golden Panthers will lose ten of their senior players. So it's about time we go recruiting for some new flesh. In case you didn't read the recruiting rules (courtesy of Evil Dade at GameFAQS.com) at the top in my openingspost, I will post them here again.

I'm not allowed to pursue 5* or 4* players because of my 1* program.

Spots that are open next season: 1 QB, 3 WR, 1 T, 2 DT, 1 OLB, 1 MLB and 1 K.

FIU's home and Pipeline state is Florida.

This isn't meant to be a bad thing at all but it looks very Madden Maniaesque. I like the style and used it in my Griz dynasty a bit last year.

Good luck with the Golden Panthers truSteh.

Yeah I tried some on MaddenMania :p And had some dynasties with the same style with NBA Live '04, but that's a long time ago. And looked at other people's dynasties to for ideas here and there, to pick up some football ideas.

But thx for the compliment :)

Week 1 Updates
BYE week

-- Except for Temple and #19 Arizona State, who faced each other at Sun Devil Stadium, no other games were played. The game at Arizona State was won my Arizona State with the final score 37-21. Players of the game were A. Fichter for Temple with 12 tackles, of which 4 for a loss, 2 sacks and a forced fumble and ASU's player of the game was D. Hagan with 9 receptions for 163 yards and one touchdown.

In week two the FIU Golden Panthers will face Kansas State on the road. It will be the first time the Golden Panthers and the Wildcats will play a match.
MATCH UP:

FIU Kansas State

Overall C+ B
Offense C B-
Defense C B

Our guess is that Florida International will probably lose the game.

MANHATTEN, Kan. What was hoped to be a nice and slow start of this season and dynasty, ended as a catastrofic experience for the new coach. The Golden Panthers' defense couldn't stop the powerful Wildcats passing game and KSU easily passed for 576 yards.

The game started when FIU won the toss and elected to receive. The ball was kicked to the one yard line and on a 18 yard kick return Wiliams brought it back to the 19. The first points in the game were scored when FIU forced a fumble and recovered it, but FIU Quarterback Padrick failed to pass the ball and KSU made the safety, KSU was leading 2-0.

Not even a minute later KSU scored again when Moreira received a 47 yard pass from Webb and Snodgrass kicked the extra point. KSU was now leading 9-0. KSU defensive player Mack returned a 19 yard interception ball to give KSU a 16-0 lead. Moreire scored two more touchdowns after that thanks to a 36 and 41 yard pass from Webb, Snodgrass kicked both the extra points. KSU was now leading with 30-0. The last points in the first quarter were scored by Snodgrass when he kicked a 36 yard field goal with 0:01 left in the quarter. KSU had a 33-0 lead.

The second quarter was KSU's coach dream as Kansas State scored another 45 points. Within the first minute of the second quarter KSU scored their first points on a 88 yard punt return by Figurs and Snodgrass kicked the extra point. 'Couple of minutes later KSU Moreira received another 58 yard pass from Webb and Snodgrass with the extra point, KSU was now leading 47-0. About a minute later KSU scored their first running touchdown when Alsup ran for 21 yards, Snodgrass kicked in another extra point. It was from about this point impossible for FIU to get back in the game as KSU was leading 54-0. Another crazy third down conversion was a fact when Martinez got the 87 yard pass from Clayton and got KSU the 61-0 lead. Meier got his first passing touchdown when he placed a 6 yard pass in Dennis' hands. Second runningtouchdown of the game was a fact when Clayton ran for 23 yards giving KSU the 75-0 lead.

FIU scored their first points thanks to a 81 yard pass from Padrick to Williams and Moss kicking the extra point, but KSU was still leading big with 75-7. The last points in the half were scored by Snodgrass when he kicked the 28 yard field goal, KSU leading 78-7.

The 3rd and 4rd quarter had much lesser scoring as KSU only scored five touchdowns by Clayton, Alstatt, Dennis, Strozier and Meier. The final score of the game 113-7.

"I have nothing to say about this." said coach Strock "I don't know what it is with this defense, but it definitely ain't good. I got some work to do. Especially when their are so much seniors leaving next year, I really got to get some good recruits."

Next week FIU is facing #19 Texas Tech, which would probably end in an even bigger loss. We'll keep you updated.

Week 2 Updates
KSU wins over FIU with 113-7

-- A dramatic start of the season for the Golden Panthers when they get totally blown away by the Wildcats. But no worries, it will get better... At least that is what we hope. The coach commented in a press conference that he is going to find some new sliders, since his current are a little bit to difficult. And in case you didn't know, truSteh isn't a NCAA football guru.

In week three the FIU Golden Panthers will match up with #19 Texas Tech. #19? Yes quite crazy isn't it? Since they couldn't even get some decent points against Kansas State (#55 on the preseason rankings) they probably tought, what the hell, we are going to lose 250-0 from Texas Tech.. Why not?
MATCH UP:

FIU #19 Texas Tech

Overall C+ B+
Offense C B
Defense C B

You can guess what our expectations are for this game, a big loss for FIU, unless some kind of a miracle happens.

Enough talking about losses, let's go on to the in-season recruiting update.

http://img308.imageshack.us/img308/6606/recruiting9cm.jpg

Despite the fact that FIU athletes don't even dare to show their faces outside the training field some HS recruits actually moved FIU up their list. It's no suprise that some practicly booted FIU from the list, but they weren't really interested in FIU in the first place at all. Colored in red are the players who are said goodbye to by FIU. Colored in green are the players FIU is highly interested in and are interested in FIU too.

Considering, Comments, Interest in FIU and Recruiting percentage are updated.

Considering is in the order of interest level, so the first is the school they are the most interested in, the last one.. you'll probably understand it.

Yeah I live in the Netherlands.. you were born there? No, I'm of Dutch ancestry and still have family there. My sister-in-law lived there last year and really wants to get back. I've never been but would love to visit in the next few years.

Oh, and Parker to Medley sounds like a good combo. :)

Unfortuantly Medley has no interest in FIU at all, #7 at his list.. I'm not taking the risk still giving him recruiting points.. I'm focussing on the guys have me high on their list.

I don't understand your sister-in-law though, why does she want to get back :p? Maybe it's just me but I hate it here :p Maybe she want's to switch with me, she comes to live here and I go to the states :p

LUBBOCK, Texas - Josh Padrick broke the Passing Yards (Game) school record with 447 and Cory McKinney broke the Receiving Yards (Game) record as he received for 237 yards, but Florida Internat'l still was unable to defeat #19 Texas Tech.

In some people's opinion this game was quite an unfair match-up, let Florida International, #119 on the preseason ranks, play against #19 Texas Tech. But FIU fought proud and even got some nice points on the scoreboard. But like the previous game against Kansas State the defense was unable to stop much of the Texas Tech passing game.

"No offense to my guys, but compared to the Texas Tech offense some of them are just too slow." said coach Strock after the game. "As soon as Texas started to run, or intercepted a pass, we just couldn't stop them simply because we couldn't keep up with them."

In the first quarter the FIU defense did a nice job as they only allowed two touchdowns, scored by Filani and Henderson on a 12 and 2 yard run.

The second quarter was quite a drama for the FIU defense when they allowed 4 touchdowns of which one 41 yard interception return and a 73 yard punt return. At the end of the first half Texas Tech was leading by 42 points and FIU still didn't score.

In the third quarter the fatique really started to kick in and resulted in six touchdowns scored by Texas Tech. Amendola was even able to score a touchdown after a 90 yard pass from Harrell. But FIU scored their first 7 points after Williams received a 60 yard pass from Padrick and Moss scored the extra point. FIU scored another two times with McKinney receiving a 84 yard pass from Padrick and late in the third Moss kicking a 40 yard fieldgoal with 0:05 seconds left.

Texas Tech started the fourth quarter with a 84-17 lead. FIU hoped to keep their opponent under the 100 points mark but unfortuantly they failed in that, Texas Tech scored another 6 touchdowns of which two interception returns. FIU increased Texas Tech's lead with two touchdowns scored by Reams and McKinney on a 3 yard run and 69 yard pass. FIU lost the game 126-31.

Even though Padrick passed for quite some yards this game his probably career high 9 interceptions really crippled the FIU Golden Panthers. Without those interceptions FIU probably would've lost with much smaller numbers.

Week 4 will be a BYE week for FIU so they can focus on their recruits.

In week 5 the Golden Panthers will play their first Sun Belt Conference game as they will visit Arkansas State. This will be quite a nice match-up since both teams have similar skills. It promises to be an exciting game.

Week 3 Updates
#19 Texas Tech wins over FIU with 126-31

-- Another loss results in a 0-2 record for the Golden Panthers. But the Sun Belt games didn't start yet. Week 4 will be a BYE week for the Panthers, so the staff can focus on preparing for the first Sun Belt Conference game against Arkansas State in week 5.

The game at Arkansas State will be quite a nice match-up, both team have similar skills, Overall Arkansas State is just a little bit better than FIU, but games get decided untill it's been played, so we'll see what happens.
MATCH UP:

FIU Arkansas State

Overall C+ B-
Offense C C
Defense C C+

We don't really know what to expect from this game, if FIU has no suspensions and can put their best team on the field they have a little chance of winning for the first time this season, and win for the first time in this dynasty.

http://img308.imageshack.us/img308/6606/recruiting9cm.jpg

From now on it will be all or nothing since a lot of recruits have made up their minds about the schools they are really interested in, some players have totally removed FIU from the list of schools they are thinking about, but some actually have FIU in the first or second place. Which is pretty nice ofcourse.

Players who removed FIU from their list are: Scott McDonald (WR), who said: "I'd like to go to FIU, but my parents want me to go elsewhere." Gotta love those parents... and Fred Medley (WR) who had to say: "I had to narrow my list, Coach. I hope there are no hard feelings." Well ofcourse not.. It's not really good for the FIU recruiting since they are both wide receivers, and FIU can really use some.

Considering, Comments, Interest in FIU and Recruiting percentage are updated. Considering is in the order of interest level, so the first is the school they are the most interested in, the last one.. you'll probably understand it.

I've also added some new information of the players, like arm strengt and that sort of stuff.

Week 4 Updates
Focussing on the first Sun Belt Conference game

-- Another quiet week for the Golden Panthers. They can rest a little as the coaches focus on game tapes of Arkansas State and the recruiting of new players.

Arkansas has a 1-2 record (FIU 0-2) and hasn't played any conference game yet eather. So both teams will play their first Sun Belt game of the season. The matchup is quite nice, both teams can really make it hard for eachother and we should see a nice game tonight.

#83 Eppinger (Left) with a 80 yard punt return touchdown. #2 Kendrick (Right) sees a hole and runs for the touchdown.

JONESBORO, ARK. - Playing almost perfect with their new playbook the FIU Golden Panthers won their Sun Belt Conference opener. Kedrick and Padrick passed for a combined total of 320 yards and the defense only allowed 393 yards.

"We played pretty good." coach Don Strock said. "Using our new playbook I kinda felt nervous because the team had a limited time to learn, but it turned out good."

Tavares Kendrick - freshman quarterback - made an impressive debut in the game as he went 10-17 with 198 passing yards, 15 carries for 61 yards and a total of 4 touchdowns. He even made it Offensive Player of the Week in the Sun Belt Conference. Our congratulations.

The game started when Arkansas State wonn the toss and elected to receive. They returned the ball to the 28 yard line, but because of a clipping penalty they were forced back to the 13 yard line. They weren't able to get the first down and were forced to punt the ball. The quarter started quite boring. Both teams didn't make a real threat yet and FIU only forced two fumbles they recovered, but weren't able to score untill 2:52 was left in the quarter. After the snap Reams ran for 17 yards and got FIU their first six points. Moss had a succesful conversion. For the first time this season FIU was actually leading a game.

The second quarter was a little more exciting for both teams as both FIU and ASU scored points. Eppinger had 80 and 76 punt return touchdowns which got FIU leading with 21-0.

"It was amazing. Just a minute apart I score two unbelievable touchdowns." Julius Eppinger said. "I hope I can do the same in future games."

The half ended with ASU scoring their first seven points when Bracey ran for 2 yards and Neihouse kicking the succesful conversion. At the end of the first half FIU was leading 21-7.

ASU scored quick in the third quarter when Bracey received a 57 yard pass from Noce but FIU was still leading. FIU expanded their lead when Moss kicked a 40 yard fieldgoal in and both Rollins and Smith received a touchdown pass from Kendrick. At the end of the third FIU was leading 38-14.

The fourth and final quarter was dominated by FIU as they scored two touchdowns and two fieldgoals to expand their lead to 58-14. Kendrick, who showed his extraordinary running skills today, rushed for two touchdowns and Moss kicked in a 52 yard and a 24 yard fieldgoal. Final score of the game, 58-14. FIU's first win.

Next week the FIU Golden Panthers will get a visit from another Florida based team as they face A&M at home. It shouldn't be much trouble to win that game if the Panthers perform the same as today.

Yeah I got my ass wooped [laugh] Against Arkansas State I played a little different, I saw some video clips of online matches and saw that people run with their quarterback a lot, I tried that and it kinda works, (and i used the florida playbook for the first time) I guess when you start running with your QB, some defenders will focus on the QB, so their has to be an open WR.. pass to him.. and voila :D
