Anyone else struggling with this game? I haven't had a lot of time to play it because of the holiday and family and all but the little that I did play it I was amazed at how hard the controls are going to be to learn. Forget about calling plays, I just need to figure out how to not shoot the ball from half court and actually do something that resembles basketball.
Few questions for starters:
1) Are you guys using the right analog stick to shoot or the x button?
2) When you do shoot a jumper, do you just push up?
3) Is it pretty much impossible to steal the ball this year?

Well, The controls are definately hard to get used to. I keep using the Shot Stick as the Freestyle stick in EA Games. But to answer your questions:
1)Ive been using the shot stick for about all my shots. But when I get an offensive rebound or have it down low, I usually jus press X. Do you have any idea if the way you use the shot stick will determine Layup/Dunk?
2)Thats the way Ive been doing it, But Dont knwo for sure?
3)I really havent had any problems with steals. Just once in a while, use that rip stick and snatch the ball away.
I know, Im not too much of a help. haha

First thing I did was switch to Alternate A. I think its the closest to the "Pro" setting on last years. I haven't messed with the shot stick so I've been using X. I haven't had problems with stealing this year. Getting about 5 or 6 legit user steals a game and then my computer always picks off a few. One thing I noticed is that you should let go of turbo when you go for a steal or else you get called for a foul most of the time.

Ive started my legacy now as BSU. I did a few slider tweaks. I cant remember everything I changed. The 2 biggest tweaks, I think, is Inside Range -5 and 3pt Tendency +2. Thats for both HUM and CPU.
I bumped up all the Foul Settings, But Im going to the FT line alot more then the CPU. I think Im going to bump up the Driving Tendency by +1 or 2.
So far Im 3-2 in my legacy playing on All-Conference.(Lost to Weber St. Twice!!! [evil] ) So these settings are working out well for me.

Do you have any idea if the way you use the shot stick will determine Layup/Dunk?
Holding the R button (aggressive modifier/turbo) will determine layups/dunks, block attempts, steal attempts.....

Yeah, I have been doing all my QUICK GAMES on All Conference with Duke. It is strange because I will have nice runs then the computer will come storming back. I played UCONN and turned it off at halftime. I was down 55-24!!!

Rationale: Jistic's sliders provided some very satisfying CPUvCPU games, but were designed for manual play. Coach Mode games play more like CPUvCPU games, which are "slower" games because of a manual user's tendency to accelerate the offense. Therefore, I have found that 18-minute halves have been pretty realistic. Fouls are hard to come by still, but teams with no depth can get in trouble. CPU substitution patterns have tested well at these fatigue rates.
Issues:
- I have 3-pt attempts about where I want them. The problem is, too many of these attempts are contested. I anticipate messing around with the sliders to keep the # of attempts where they are, but make them happen at more reasonable opportunities.
- Teams should exploit an inside advantage more often when it exists. It is likely that I will increase tendencies to focus inside, but this may not be completely fixable.
- FG% have been too low, by 2-4% by my estimation. I believe this has more to do with shot selection than offensive ratings. More and more I think I might need to tweak defensive sliders, but I am afraid I might throw everything out of whack again, and so I have avoided doing that. If I continue to see these issues, that is the direction I will go.
I am posting these for any Coach Moders to try out, simply because I am lucky to get in three games in a day. I tried to put together a beta set of sliders with a good feel and a solid foundation. If my assumptions are right, these should be tweakable. Feel free to feedback on this thread regarding any stats you get using these. Thanks.

I suggest keeping the time at 16 minutes per half for everyone else like me that does not use coach mode. There are a couple other minor changes that need to be made from the ones posted above for those that don't use coach mode. Check Op Sports to find the exact sliders. I highly recommend them.
Piper, I recommend you don't make many major changes, because odds are over the course of many games the game stats will vary and end up rounding out to a reasonable average. And if not, then you'll know for sure what needs to be changed.

Here are the sliders that I posted at operation sports. I believe they are done and I have started my dynasty. The only slider that I am not super confident in is CPU 3 pointers. I have gone back and forth between -1 and 0 (no change). My problem with no change was that some better teams will get hot and shoot 70% plus on them and a LOT of them. This makes the game an automatic blow out and unrealistic in my opinion. Even if I camp the 3 point line and try to block everyone, they can get super hot. I wish I could set it at -0.5, LOL.
Let me know if you guys try them how they work out for ya. I like them because I can still blow out lessor teams (most of the time) but equal teams I can beat and get killed by. It comes down to shooting percentage, rebounds and turnovers which all govern momentum. Just like it should be ;)

I don't see your sliders anywhere. How close are they to Jistic's from OS? That's what I have been using with no complaints.

Hmmmm, I have no idea why they didn't get posted. Please give these a shot Whoa before you start. I would appreciate the feedback. I played about 30 games to arrive at these.
*************************************************
Okay guys, after many, many games of tweaking with Jistic's and Slybelle's sliders I have come up with my very own which I am going to start my dynasty with.
Difficulty: MOP
Half:13 min
Free throw real % = ON
Clutch factor = OFF
(Human/CPU) all not listed are defaults
Shooting:
3 point (+1/0)
Inside Range (0/-1)
Mid Range (0/-1)
Free throw success (+1/0)
3pt tendency (0/+3)
Drive tendency (0/+3)
Attributes
Ball Handling (+1/-1)
Off Rebounding (+1/-2)
Def Rebounding (+1/-1)
Block (+1/-1)
Steal (+1/-2)
Speed (-1/-2)
Gameplay
Steal Success (+1/-2)
Defend Jumper (0/-1)
Fitness
Energy Fatigue (-3/-3)
Energy Rec (+2/+2)
I hope that some of you try these out. I play with only Duke and I did all of my final confirmation testing against Maryland and UCONN.
I had to find my own set for 2 reasons. One, I was winning too easily with Jistics and Slybelle's plus, and second, there sliders just felt slow. I am more into high tempo, higher scoring game. So I don't know how realistic my stats will be for ya. If anyone tries them out please let me know.
I am having a blast with these. I really feel that every trip up and down the court matters. If I am careless with the ball it goes the other way for a dunk almost every time. If I am careful with the ball I will get off a high percentage shot the majority of the time.
I hope you enjoy them.

Well they may be too easy because you're only playing with a powerhouse team. Sliders can't fit all levels of teams that guys choose to run legacies with. That's probably why you had to make yours a little more difficult. As for me, I haven't played enough games yet to decide which sliders are best for me. I'll start with Jistic's and play around as the first season goes along.
haha I don't know how you can play with 13 minutes halves. I play at a very quick tempo as well and have to play 16 minute halves to get the right number of possessions to fit that style of play.

Here's how you calculate your tempo:
Look at your team's stats at the end of your next game. Calculate:
FG Attempts - Off. Rebounds + Turnovers + (.475 * FT Attempts)
If you come out with a number between 74-79, then that would rank among the top 20 in terms of tempo of play.

I've been using jistics and been happy with them. 13 minute halves doesn't seem long enough to me. I've been going with 16 minute ones as well

I agree. I have my V1.0 set ready, and with any luck I won't change them at all. They have been perfect in testing.
My comment on FG% is because I wasn't shooting under 50% against anyone. Granted, I outmatched everyone but BC, but I could see the trend. In a legacy, the players go up and down more, and I found a couple of adjustments that really panned out. The only major adjustment was Dunks In Traffic, and it was obvious.
I hope to post my Coach Mode sliders tonight.

Yes, I agree with the statement that in legacy guys go up and down more. If I play a quick game Redick is always good to shoot from 30%-50% from the three point line. However in legacy mode, he might shoot 0%-70%. It can be quite frustrating.

Check his consistency rating.

Say what? there is a consistency rating? you have to be kidding me. also, at operationsports i have been hearing about guys talking about their players ratings going way up during games... i don't think i have ever seen this. maybe i have that option off by accident.
man, i am going to miss sheldon williams. he has 3.8 blocks per game and can drop step DUNK like a champ. he is averaging 22+ for me. I sure hope these young guys are ready to fill some huge shoes.

I thought I saw a rating or graphic at some point in the game regarding a player's consistency. Not sure what I was doing, but it was on the player card.
Also, focus and confidence have a noticeable impact.

These sliders are Coach Mode only. Not saying they won't work otherwise, just no gameplay guarantees.
V1.1 will be coming soon. I plan to tweak down DUNK and probably up the DRIVE tendency to create a few more fouls.

Something that I have learned from playing through an entire first year that all of you might know already but I didn't until the other day.
It is better as a shooter to have your feet set and a defender on you than to be wide-ass open. What I mean is, if you catch the ball behind the arc, make sure you give your guy a second to get set even if that means letting a defensiveman close in. My shooting percentages have become way more consistent and increased since doing this. I really noticed this when using the SG Take play. You want to wait for the SG to turn all the way around before starting the shot. While this does give his defender more time to fight through the pick and get in his face, his shooting % will go way up.
