Looks like Nike's horrible uniforms aren't just for football anymore.

http://niketown.nike.com/niketown/catalog/pdp.jsp?productId=103409&categoryId=304621

Would like to add that alumni caught drift of this alternate jersey today and have caused quite an uproar in the athletic department.

Didn't they get the picture when the "Brand Jordan" jerseys were used for only that one year? [rock]

The downfall of UNC basketball began with these

http://www.lvrj.com/lvrj_home/1999/Dec-05-Sun-1999/photos/forte.jpg

Personally, I even hate the uniforms we have now. I think its stupid how the UNC logo is at the bottom of the sides and how it says Carolina cross the butt. I wish we'd go back to these

They did some nasty shit to Kentucky, Florida and some other SEC schools..

I thought Kentucky has had the same jerseys for ever?

Just say no. That's what USC did this year for football. Blame the athletic departments, not Nike. Continuing to let them tamper with jerseys just endorses their actions.

FSU has a bra strap type hoops jersey or something similar.

Haha, Forte with his best Frodo impression. [laugh]

I always wondered about those jersies with the UNC symbol that one year. Those looked like shit, even though I'm biased. I will say that if the team UNC is playing in the Forte pic is NCSU than they're uniforms were not very good either.

Those have got to be the ugliest uniforms every. WTF is up with the gray shoulders???

How could they ruin Carolina's color scheme with gray???? I hope those aren't the official unis...

I don't know who let this happen. I know the reason we don't have gay football jerseys is that Coach Bunting refused to let that happen.

Duke, Illinois, Michigan, and Michigan State are all gettin the treatment as well. Knock on wood...but I see no changes to the Texas jerseys as of yet. What a shame if this actually transpires.

Nebraska went through this with adidas a couple of years ago with black basketball uniforms (not to mention those hideous football unis in 2002). But the athletic department changed it back to only school colors after fans complained.

Unless it is a special occassion, I have no problem with a one-time change but they should stick to school colors the vast majority of the time.

This is one thing that I've always respected about teams like the Yankees, Raiders, etc. White or dark, hasn't changed in years. But nowadays basketball is all about moving merchandise and marketing. This is why you see NBA teams wearing 14 different "alternate" uniforms. Because they sell and generate revenue for the NBA and NBAPA. Hockey is much worse. Look at what the Kings were wearing in 1996 as an "alternate". And the other one is an alternate that the Blues basically refused to wear.

Nike has ruined most of Sports in general. They are a shoe company involved in cloth and Hard Goods.

Golf Products = POS. The only golf product they make that is any good is the golf ball and Wilson Sports make them. LMAO

Shoes = POS. Used to be great product and they now suck.

Balls (Football, Basketball, etc.) = POS Longevity is horrendous.

Uniforms = POS They don't even make their own uniforms. They contract out to a POS company called Power.

Basically, Nike has become one of the biggest Money Whores on the planet. They don't care about the product or the consumer. They care about the money in their pockets.

Most of the ooaches hate the Nike deals their schools have signed contracts with. It forces the kids to use product or products that aren't the best on the market or plain and simple a product that the kid doesn't like. I am talking Hard Good here. As an example, a Nike School has to use their football. Not the best football, but it is decent. If the QB doesn't like throwing that football it doesn't matter. You go to an Adidas school, and you can throw any football you want.

Ha. I guess your age would have something to do with it. But they did still wear the tradional blue away jerseys as recently as 2 years ago for some games. Last year is when they started wearing that new style blue away jersey that isn't even the same color as the royal blue that's supposed to be in the Duke uniforms. I also noticed that this year for the first time, the home uniforms have black accents on them.

Are their basketball uniforms not done by under armour? Maybe the horrendous non-school-color-stripe-on-the-top-of-the-jersey "trend" is catching on for some god awful reason...thanks Nike. [glare]

Ive been silent about this whole issue, but watching umd and my dukies wear that shit on their shoulders, enough is enough. Why in the fuck does nike have to make EVERY team look the same. Who's bright fucking idea was it to put silver on EVERY team's fucking jersey? really, it makes no fucking sense. Its like putting a big purple patch on the asscrack of your pants just for the fuck of it. I never thought id actually say this, but fuck Nike.

nc state's uniforms actually kind of suck... at least that's what i thought the first time i saw that weird font they are using on the lettering on the front and for the numbers... but actually, so many other teams' uniforms are getting so god-awful, it makes nc state's marginal uniforms actually look good.

the old nc state unis:
http://mlb.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pG01-1108318reg.jpg

those are damn sweet and if i was king of the world, ncsu would be wearing that. if it was good enough for david thompson it's damn sure good enough for the current wolfpack.

I wish NC State would go back to the old style that just said "State" on the front like the Thompson era, but seeing the trend that Nike has taken, I'm not going to complain. I wasn't too happy with the change in State's football jerseys, but they grew on me and they aren't as bad as those ugly ass ones that Florida and some of the other schools were wearing this year with the different colored sleeves.
