Alright, its time again for this dominating conference to start basketball in a few weeks. Duke is obviously the favorite with everybody returning. Then there's Wake, Maryland, and a few others. GT lost their entire lineup from last year, but don't be suprised if they make some noise this year. We've got a few sophmores that played a lot last year including 3 point sensation Anthony Morrow and the big guy, R'Sean Dickey. Post your predictions.

Georgia Tech has no point guard. I don't see them being too successful this year in the ACC.

As much as I hate to say it, Duke's gonna take the ACC this year. [down]

Our PG is gonna be sophmore Zam Fredrick. He didn't play as much as the other younger guys did last year, but he's got to be a decent player. But I think that you are right about us in the ACC, we might knock off a big team or two, but all it will be is a rebuilding year, but we have another solid recruiting class coming in and we're losing nobody, so get ready for us next year.

Yeah you guys got Javaris Crittenton coming in next year. Expect him to start right away...

NCSU is currently 3-0 after the sweeping the Hispanic College Fund Classic (pre–season tourney with crap teams). We won 91-61 over Stetson, 91-59 over The Citadel, and 73-57 over Delaware. Our starting line ups for those games were:

G Engin Atsur
F Gavin Grant
F Ilian Evtimov
F Andrew Brackman
C Cedric Simmons

Bethel is still coming back from a torn groin so he isn't starting and Cameron Bennerman violated a team rule so he didn't play against Stetson and didn't start the other 2 games. From my impressions of an exhibition game, Bethel and Bennerman should start instead of Atsur and Grant but Atsur and Grant both played an awesome tournament, so I don't know what to expect. We have another tune-up game against VMI tomorrow before we go to the Wooden Tradition Saturday and play Notre Dame. I think we'll be ready.

Yeah ya'll haven't been good since you had that really good player like 2 years ago, what was his name again? But ya'll did play us a outstanding game last year until Jarett Jack made an outstanding play at the end of the game.

Tim Pickett. There is a ton of talent on the team right now, just getting it to produce is the problem.

Last night NCSU beat VMI 75-55, was losing 21-10 early because we couldn't shoot 3's again, but we managed to get back at it.

They will. You're benefitting from a down year in the ACC too.

very true. everyone is down this year, even Duke, (even though they are the early favorite to win not just the ACC but the whole damn thing) is giving big minutes to freshman, so you could imply that even they are sort of "down" in a way, in the fact that besides Williams and Reddick, they are very young. now that i think about it, The U is probably one of the most expirenced(age wise) teams in the ACC.

I don't see how you can say Duke is down. They only lost two contributers from an #1 seed Tournament team (Daniel Ewing & Shavlik Randolph). I believe that Josh McRoberts would have started over Randolph anyways.

As much as I hate to say this, they've only gotten better this year. They look to be a Final Four team...

Haha, FSU fans being negative and GT fans being positive. Completely opposite. GT got kicked the shit outta by Illinois-Chicago and FSU is beating #14 Florida.

Duke
Miami
UNC
GA Tech
UVA
Va Tech

NCSU
BC
Maryland
Wake
FSU
Clemson

Thats how I see the divisions playing out this year. I'm going with the homer pick, cause that's how I roll. I think Miami and UNC will have very similar records, with the other three teams hanging around each other. I think NCSU, BC, and Maryland will have a three way dogfight for the top of the other division. Wake somewhere in the middle, and FSU/Clemson battling for the basement.

My Picks:

wait, there is no divisions in cbb...haha

1. Duke - Obvious pick, they're not the most dominant but they get the job done

2. BC - Solid team but a bit overrated

3. NCSU - Solid team with a great group of super sophs. Kinda homerish

4. Maryland - Good team but don't have anybody in the post besides Ibekwe, who is inconsistent

5. Wake Forest - Not as good as anticipated but like Duke they finish the games despite struggling a bit. Skip needs to start teaching defense

6. Miami - Diaz is good, Hite is good, I think they make the NCAA tourney

7. UNC - They'll be inconsistent but get better over time. They'll be around the bubble.

8. Va Tech - They'll miss Carlos Dixon but they are dangerous at home

9. Clemson - Some talented players but not enough to compete very well

10. FSU - Showed some skill but lose some good players off a not very good team

11. GT - Unimpressive and need some work on freethrows. Talented players but not enough chemistry

12. UVA - Dont know much about them but people seem to agree that it'll be an ugly season for them

Here's how it should go:

1. Duke - A lot of talent, both new and old. Redick/Williams will dominate.

2. Boston College - Return almost everyone from last year's squad, should do solid in a down year for the league.

3. NC State - Return everyone but Hodge, have shown good team chemistry so far, spreading the offense around and playing good D as Herb's teams always do.

4. Maryland - The Terps struggled a little early, but they should be solid again this year.

5-6, can't decide yet.
UNC - They have struggled, no question, but Roy Williams will have them competitive, and at least on the bubble for the NCAAs
Wake - They look so-so this year, and are suffering since Gray was forced to move from SG to the point.

7. Georgia Tech - Last revision, seriously, but Miami looked so terrible against Michigan, gotta slide the Jackets up. If Clemson or the Canes get hot though, the Jackets might fall right back.

8-9
Clemson - Watch out for the Tigers, Ollie Purnell will take advantage of the down year, and they could finish higher.
Miami - After watching Miami play for the first time last night, gotta slide them down.

10. Virginia Tech - Just don't think they will be able to sneak up on folks like last year.

11. Florida State - Really not sold on them being any better than last year.

12. Virginia - In a word...horrrrrrrrrible.

This just in, Quentin Thomas will never see the floor again at UNC.

Official release:

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. --- University of North Carolina sophomore point guard Quentin Thomas was not available to play on Tuesday night versus Illinois in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge due to a stress fracture of the third metatarsal bone of his left foot (the third toe on his left foot).

Thomas suffered the injury in practice prior to Carolina's season-opener vs. Gardner-Webb on Nov. 19. He played in each of the Tar Heels¹ first three games, but has missed practice time and did not start any of those contests.
Thomas' status is day-to-day.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. --- University of North Carolina sophomore waste of scholarship space Quentin Thomas was not available to play on Tuesday night versus Illinois in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge due to blatant ineptitude on the court.

Thomas's shitiness became apparent in Carolina's season-opener vs. Gardner-Webb on Nov. 19. He played in each of the Tar Heels¹ first three games, but has missed every shot he's taken and did not start any of those contests.
Thomas' status is benched until he decides to transfer.

I wouldn't say he's gone for good just yet. But he definitely won't start for the rest of the year considering how well the freshmen have played.

He will be gone. Frasor and Wes Miller are both getting PT over him. Ginyard can even run the point better than QT. Next year, Lawson comes in and that spells the end to QT's career.

Georgia Tech - They aren't looking great now, but I have a feeling Hewitt will keep them out of the bottom of the cellar.

They hung in there pretty well last night agianst MSU and had a shot (literally) to win. The TV announcer said Hewitt brought in a jet engine and ran it during practice to get the players used to extreme noise.

Good rebound from the Ill-Chicago for the Jackets. Of course, they shot like, 53%. They'll get better and they'll be a force in a matter of a couple years.

I agree. Va. Tech or Clemson will most likely finish last.
