I was reading through the Samford B-dogs thread looking for something else when I found the Seniors post for BJL and thought....hhhhmmmmmmmmm :D

Yep, as BigShan said they broke Mount Unions winning streak. They also are like an hour from my home town and a few people I went to high school with went there so I figured they would be a good created team for this D1-AA dynasty.
excellent, i was just starting to wonder if you were going to make a dynasty report for your d-1aa dynasty. good luck and i hope this is continues for a while
That was one of my motivations. I was playing a practice game with YSU and Southern Illinois and had a lot of fun so I looked up that stuff you guys had posted way back when then went from there.
When I saw Ohio Northern in your Division 1-AA pack, I thought, hmmm, what's he up to? But the Billy Joe angle, too? Very nice.
Thanks Fields...I'm hoping BJL will get the ol creative juices flowing again. Funny but I've been considering ONU for a while now and while I knew that Mount Union's streak had ended I wasn't aware it was ONU that had ended it so when I was researching their uni's for create-a-team I saw that is was indeed the P-Bears. I guess it's fitting they get their own dynasty thread now. :)
Thanks for checking in everyone. If you're not familiar with Billy Joe Lee then check out Madcat's Samford Bulldog College Football Dynasty.

The sun shines bright and hot on the practice field. A group of players stands huddled together speculating about their new head coach. A tall athletic man strolls across the field and the players fall quiet. Almost as one the players heads tilt up as the former wide receiver stops in front of them.
Billy Joe Lee: Whut de hell is you lookin' at! Right on!
#59: Sir, that is the largest Afro I've ever seen!
Billy Joe Lee: Whut in de hell dun did ya' say?
#82: He said that's a huge Fro' sir!
Billy Joe Lee: Who said dat?

#93: Uhhhh...I'm uh linebacker coach. Jermaine Brown...middle linebacker.
Billy Joe Lee: Son, dat dere numba' is some defense linemans number. Ah be baaad... No lineback on mah' team be where da damn #93. Whut in de hell be goin' on here. You's #98? Youse t'scrawny t'be some lineman so's I guess youse some linebacka' too?
#98: Yeah coach, Chris Vincent, outside linebacker.
Billy Joe Lee: Oh boy. Slap mah fro!..we's in trouble. You's jokers kin't even dig de right numbers on yo' backs....how de hell is we supposed t'be winnin' games? I'm Billy Joe Lee and we's not about t'start da damn season wid dis kind'a mess! Right on!
Music fills the air (http://www.alternateversion.com/football/ONU/multimedia/rikki.mid) and Billy Joe Lee begins dancing around. The players also start dancing in a choreographed dance number while Billy Joe Lee begins to sing:
Billy Joe Lee:
Jermain youse gonna lose dat number
I plum wanna call ya' sump'n else
Send it off in some letta' to yo'self
Jermain youse gonna lose dat number
It’s de only one ya' own
You's might use it if ya' feel better

So BJL has managed to get me back into dynasty writing. Looks like this is the one. I'm going to try and keep everyone updatd on how the national scene looks as well with all the D1-AA teams now. All our favorites are there, Samford, Montana, Furman, Henry....no wait, not the Crows. But everyone else. Thanks for all the responses fellas. Appreciate you checking things out.

[voice over]Billy Joe Lee, a virtual unknown at the time he took over the Ohio Northern football coaching job. The brash, outspoken though often unintelligible, coach of the Polar Bears often claimed he was former Heisman candidate and a Billitnikoff Award winner while playing football for the Samford Bulldogs. Most of his backers brush off these unsupported claims as simple braggadocio but his detractors point to this as a sure sign that the man is a liar and phony.

That's one thing that is great about the dynasty section (and probably all of Utopia) is that we dont worry about politcal correctness. Makes things a lot funnier around here.

The Ohio Northern Football team is gathered in the visitors locker room of Holt Arena, eagerly awaiting their matchup with the Idaho State Bengals. The expectant wide eyed faces of the Polar Bear players painted a clear picture of the excitement and youth present in the visitors locker-room prior to the historic first game in D1-A football.

Ohio Northern at Idaho State
Week 1 2005
P'Bears Shock the World!
http://www.alternateversion.com/football/ONU/2005/week1/pic1.jpg
or at Least the Bengals!
Pocatello, ID - Ohio Northern and the programs flamboyant head coach Billy Joe Lee entered the game with very little expectations facing a decent Idaho State squad. The Polar Bears however had higher expectations than the rest of the world and they showed it with a 2 TD win.
Ohio Northern's redshirt senior QB Tommy Wilson looked a little uncertain as the game got under way firing a couple passes wide of his wideouts before settling down late in the quarter. The ONU o-line dominated from the beginning opening up gaping holes and tieing up the Bengal defenders, giving JR Michael Harvey plenty of room to run wild over the Idaho State D. Harvey racked up 154 first half yards including a 62 yard gallop the led to the Polar Bears first point of the game and season. The 23 yard FG from Rudy Blenker was the only scoring in the 1st quarter and the P'Bear D would continue to hold the Bengals scoreless in the 2nd quarter as well.
Standout wide receiver Nate Demps got an excellent block from fellow receiver Will Landry that sprang the junior for a 62 yard trip to the house with 1:01 left in the 1st half. The Bengals weren't without any offense. The ONU defense looked anything but stellar although they did manage to keep the Bengals off the board in the half. Junior linebacker Jermaine Brown was a one man tackling machine from sideline to sideline, making key stops to kill two potential scoring drives from Idaho State. The Polar Bears were fortunate to lead 10-0 at the half despite two fumbles recovered by the Bengals, both in Idaho State territory.
The second half would witness a rebirth of the Bengal offense led by 2nd Team All-Pac-10 halfback James Hand who would rush for 288 total yards and 2 scores, starting with a 76 yard tear with 7:43 showing on the 3rd quarter clock. The third ONU turnover, another fumble on the ISU side of the field, would lead to another long TD run from Hand, this time 69 yards. Just like that the P'Bears were trailing by 4.
Tommy Wilson entered the game with a renewed fire and would proceed to lead his team to the upset victory, completing a perfect 7-7 passes for 130+ yards and a 2nd TD pass in the half. The Polar Bears started with a 76 yard drive capped by a picture perfect TD strike from Wilson to Demps on a 10 yard slant. They followed that up with a 76 yard drive, a 60 yard dirve and finally a 70 yard drive all on the ground that put the Bears up by 2 scores with less than a minute to go in the game. The Polar Bear defense managed to pick up their jockstraps long enough to make a couple plays on James Hand and QB Derrick Polite that slowed down the Bengal offense just enough. Corner Eric Bryant intercepted a Polite pass with 34 seconds left that sealed the deal and ONU ran the clock out on their first ever D1-A victory.
After the game, coach Billy Joe Lee was proud of his team. "I dun didn't dink dese honky boys had it in dem. WORD! If ya' had ax'ed me t'place some bet on de game befo'e hand, well Billy Joe Lee wouldn'ta been placin' his hard earned benjamins on de P'Bears if ya' know whut ah' mean. 'S coo', bro."

A win right out of the gates. Nice. [cool]
A question about all the Division 1-AA schools. Did you change the ratings of all the players, or are they all still rated between 40 and 65?

Price Isn't Right for 'Olar 'Ears
http://www.alternateversion.com/football/ONU/2005/week3/pic1.jpg
Offensive Outpouring Not Enough for ONU
Richmond, KY - As soon as the ESPN crew spoke the words "that defense better watch out for this quarterback. He's going to tear up that weak secondary", strong safety Brett Jones stepped in front of a James Frederick pass and returned it to the house for a quick 7-0 lead. The celebration was short lived. Thirty-two seconds later Brett Price was standing in the endzone after a 76 yard jaunt through the Polar Bear's defense. That wouldn't be the last time.
The Polar Bear's offense wasn't quite ready to crank things up yet but the defense was still making plays. Frederick was picked off by free safety Pat Alexander and Ohio Northern was able to put 3 more points on the board for a 10-7 lead. The rest of the half was all Brett Price and the Colonials. Price would score two more touchdowns on his way to 126 yards rushing and 56 yards receiving for the half. Facing an 18 point deficit as the half was coming to a close the P'Bears finally managed to put together something that resembled an offense. Seven runs for 49 yards set up a perfectly executed play action pass from Wilson to Nate Demps for a touchdown. Inconceivably, the Polar Bears got the ball back with 38 seconds left in the half. More inconceivable was the quick 30 second touchdown drive that ensued. Tommy Wilson turned what looked like a sure sack into a shoe string catch by Demps in the endzone. An amazing end to the half saw the Bears turn an 18 point blowout into a 4 Colonial lead.
Things remained close in the third quarter as both offenses hibernated for 8 minutes. As the 4th got under way, the Polar Bears decided to run their two minute offense, executed so perfectly at the end of the first half. Northern too the lead after putting up 14 points in the first minute of the 4th quarter, however they failed to take into account that there were still 7 minutes to go in the game. The Brett Price show kicked into high gear again and the 'Olar 'Ears were run right out of Roy Kidd stadium.
After the game the coaches met at midfield:
Coach Brigs: Well shit boy! What in the h'all happen' to ya boys out there? I haven't seen a defense wit so meny holes since the ol Pac-10 usta play ball out west. Damn son! Ha ha! That was a good ol fashioned but whippin at the end thar!
Coach Billy Joe Lee glared at the good ol boy with hate in his eyes, the likes of which hadn't been felt since his days at Samford when then University President Thomas Corts was mysteriously transformed into a man hating dyke.
Billy Joe Lee: Dis aint ova' bitch. Lop some boogie. Billy Joe Lee duzn't fo'get when some man raps shit t'him. WORD!
Coach Brigs: Ha ha ha! I ain't un'erstandin a word you be sayin boy!
At that point Billy Joe Lee had to be restrained as the Colonials head coach continued to cackle and taunt the Polar Bears head man.

Great to see you back at it Mandy! I really like the set-up with all the 1AA programs...great idea. I would have responded sooner but my computer pi$$ed the bed about a week ago...I'm on the kids computer for now. Hopefully in a few days my pal will have my computer up a running again and I'll be able to keep up a little better.
Good luck my friend with the Polar Bears!

Thank you my friend. Considering your own budding skills I appreciate the compliment. Just keep up the good work in your threads, helps inspire me to greater heights.
Thanks to everyone else who's checked in with support for the P'Bears. More exciting BJL action (sounds dirty huh....well who knows....) is just around the corner.

After Michigan loses Saturday they'll probably make for an intriguing matchup against the Gators in some bowl game.

Wofford at Ohio Northern
Week 5, 2005
Terriers Left Nipping at P-Bears Heals
http://www.alternateversion.com/football/ONU/2005/week5/pic1.jpg
Ada, OH - The first half against the yappy Terries put the scare of a rabbies infected doberman into Billy Joe Lee and his P-Bears. The teams looked to be at a standstill, both turning the ball over once and both scoring touchdowns on the ground. The stats looked like eerily similar and the fans were enjoying quite a spirited game from both teams. Then the half ended with a fumble by idiot tight end Adam Quidry after catching a first down pass from Tommy Wilson. The Terriers recovered the ball with 1 second showing in the 1st half. Wouldn't you know it? Those darned Yappy Dogs went right down and scored a touchdown in one play. Don't that just beat all.
So the P-Bears went into the locker-room down 14-7 to Wofford and Billy Joe Lee weren't too happy about the final series of events.
"Whut in de hell be wid dis cheap ass cheesy shit?" BJL yelled at the retreating referees back.
"What's that Coach?" The ref asked turning back to face the angered coach.
"I said whut de hell be wid dis cheese? Dere's no way dey could sco'e wid 1 second left! Right on! ah' dink we plum screwed by some crib field time keepin' shenanegans dat's whut ah' dink! Right on! I'm lodgin' some complaint wid de league! Right on!" The enraged BJL spat in the ref's direction.
"Coach, you're the home team though. Sounds like you guys screwed yourselves this time."
BJL continued his ranting and raving in the locker-room and the players cowered in the lockers until he ran out of steam. It didn't take too long for the Polar Bear's to exert their dominance on the little dogs in the 2nd half. Justing Ross wasn't a particularly fast fullback, nor was he a particularly strong fullback. Somehow he managed to look like a dominating back as he ran for 3 TD's in the 2nd half. The P-Bears settled for a 42-14 lead with 6 minutes left in the game before sending out the 2nd team scrubs for mop-up duty. Wide-out Matt Taylor's back-to-back punt returns of 53 and 55 yards for TD's sealed the deal for BJL who was relieved to have the game well in hand. The diminutive 5'7" 170 lb Taylor showed decent speed in both returns and was happy to have scored in consecutive games.
"Coach told me at the beginning of the season that he thought I was too short to play football. He said even though I was short and he thought I'd probably get creamed out there on the field he'd let me return punts because maybe I was too small for the opponents to grab." Taylor said after the game.
The second team defense wasn't much of a match for the Terrier's offense and the dogs scored 3 late touchdowns to cut the lead to 7 before running out of time. When asked why he felt confident enough to leave the 2nd string defense in the game while Wofford was making it's comeback Coach Billy Joe Lee said "I'm Billy Joe Lee. When ah' see some fine ass honky chick hangin' flips and shit right in front uh me ah' know betta' dan t'turn around." After that cryptic message the Coach ran off the field with his players, a 43-35 win under their belts.

Ohio Northern at Eastern Illinois
Week 6, 2005
Bi-Polar Panthers Confound P-Bears
http://www.alternateversion.com/football/ONU/2005/week6/pic1.jpg
Charleston, IL - Well it was one of those games. The typical kind of game that makes you feel like you need to call a rageaholics hotline afterwards because you're so pissed at the outcome. Prior to the contest beginning, Billy Joe Lee had to bring some discipline to the team in the form of a 3 game suspension to starting right tackle Xavier Jackson. Jackson had been skipping team meetings to play Texas Hold'em on PartyPoker.com. While Billy Joe Lee certainly understood gambling and cards he just couldn't let it slide when said vices interfered with the teams success.
Without Jackson anchoring the right side of the line, things really didn't look to different from previous games. Mike Harvey victimized the Panthers defense in the first half to the tune of 126 yards. The offense was clicking and managed to jump out to a comfortable 28-7 lead by the time the 2nd quarter ended. In fact the score was a bit deceiving. The P-Bears completely dominated the first half of play holding Eastern Illinois to 3 first downs and forcing four 3 and out's on 6 possessions. The lone score came on a your typical 81 yard touchdown after one lousy missed tackle allowed the wide-out to gallop 79 of the 81 yards after the catch. Eastern Illinois' highly touted impact QB Jessie Wright looked lost most of the first half only completing 2 passes. Again, it was fortunate for the Panthers that one of the 2 resulted in the long TD play which cut the Polar Bear lead to 21 going into the halftime break.
As the second half began it was immediately apparent that a different Panthers squad had left the locker-room than had entered. This was a fired up Eastern Illinois team that made it quickly known that they were going to make this a game. The P-Bear offense was forced to punt for the first time in the game and the Panthers quickly marched down the field. Jessie Wright finished off an impressive drive with an 11 yard pass to the dangerous David Stewart, he of the 81 yard TD in the first half. The lead was now down to just 14.
Billy Joe Lee's boys answered with their own impressive drive of 6 plays and 71 yards to extend their lead to 21 again. Justin Ross was having another one of those games where he finished off the hard work of Mike Harvey and he scored his second TD of the game, this time from 3 yards out. Then the rage factor started to kick in.
You might remember me saying that the P-Bears punted for the first time in the game to start the second half, however they had only scored 28 points. That was thanks to a couple of Tommy Wilson INT's in the first half. Well suddenly the Panthers defense became Ninja thiefs in the night as they ripped out the P-Bears hearts with 3 more INT's to make a total of 5 for the game. It seemed like every time Tommy ventured into the air attack, the ball either sailed a bit on him or a wide receiver ran the wrong route or a Panther defender just came away with the ball. The Panthers wittled away at the ONU lead and finally tied the game 35-35 with 3:45 left in the game. With 2 of the scoring drives only taking 3 or fewer plays you can imagine the state of mind BJL was in by this point.
The offense took the field with explicit instructions not to return to the Ohio Northern sidelines until they put the ball into the opponents endzone. With that message ringing in their young minds, they re-established their dominating first half ball possession, grind it out game. Mike Harvey nearly f-ed it up with his second fumble but TE Adam Quidry had his head in the game this time and jumped on the ball to keep the drive alive. Finally, Stevie Brown took the one yard plunge to paydirt to recapture the lead for the Polar Bears. The 77 yard drive ate up a good 2 minutes and 44 seconds and less than a minute remained in the game. Things were looking good. Yeah right!
On the ensuing kick return the P-Bears special teams chose that moment to start looking up each others asses while the returner, Billy Henderson zigged and zagged through the coverage and finally into open space where he raced into the endzone for a record setting 97 yard return. The P-Bears sideline was stunned. So stunned that Billy Joe Lee forget to put the fear of god into his offense when they returned to the field. Tommy Wilson promptly through his 5th INT and the Panthers offense capitalized on the turnover with a 34 yard TD run from the IP QB Jessie Wright. The comeback was complete and the P-Bears were dead and buried.
Final Score: Eastern Illinois 49 - Ohio Northern 42
Game Notes: Standout linebacker Jermaine Brown was injured early in the 3rd quarter and the news wasn't good. Jermaine would miss the next 3 weeks thanks to a torn rotator cuff or some such bullshit. This is the first injury of the season for the P-Bears.
The offense was actually pretty good save for the 5 Tommy Wilson INT's. Nate Demps had a career day with 166 yards and a TD while Mike Harvey ran for and even 200 yards.
Tommy Wilson's line would have been impressive were it not for the 5 under the INT column. He accounted for 210 yards passing and 30 yard rushing.
Next Up: A bottle of something real strong to help forget this loss....
Player of the Game: Nate Demps

I'm still in and out. Not nearly here enough to keep up with all these great dynasties though. As for an '06 Irish dynasty, it is doubtful. Since my PS2 is officially deceased, it has been replaced with a Gamecube. Great console, just doesn't offer NCAA '06. An '05 dynasty is always a possiblility though.

I was afraid it wouldn't come across how frustrated I was. It was like the good old days of NCAA 2005. [laugh]

Yes sir. Ol BJL is now his own man...or something like that. I think BJL has potential to eclipse the legend of Dewar. The ol ball coach was one dimensional when it came down to it but BJL has a lot of history (Samford) and character. Plus, besides his speach impediment, he's much more likable. :)
fianlly getting caught up. Looks good!
Thanks partner. Appreciate you checking in. Hopefully this one will go the distance unlike my OSU ones this year.
Great stuff Mandy.

Northeastern at Ohio Northern
Week 7, 2005
Defense? We don't need no stinking defense!
http://www.alternateversion.com/football/ONU/2005/week7/pic1.jpg
Ada, OH - Billy Joe Lee's boys persevered in a shootout at home, pulling out a win that wasn't secured until the last seconds of the game. After the game the coach was asked about the one sided nature of his team.
"Bein' de greatest wide receiva' to eva' step onto de field duzn't mean ah' duzn't appreciate da damn defensive boys. We need some help dat's fo' sho' man. Sump'n's gots'ta change o' we's in trouble. Teams likes Texas Tech neva' won some damn doodad wid offense alone."
Truer words were never spoken as last weeks game showed. However, the P'Bears managed to pull out the win in this game with 3.9 quarters of offensive football and a last ditch defensive play.
The first half saw the Huskies take a 24-14 lead thanks to some terrible ball handling. 17 of Northeasterns first half points came off of 3 Tommy Wilson interceptions. The first was terrible luck as Wilson's pass was tipped at the line of scrimmage, landing in the open arms of the Huskies linebacker who easily trotted in for 6. Wilson managed to throw several long balls keeping ONU in the game but BJL was close to ripping his sizable 'fro off in frustration as Wilson continued to play carelessly.
In the locker-room at the half BJL took the starting 5th year senior aside and spoke to him urgently.
"Look here Tommy. Slap mah fro! Dis be yo' senio' season. 'S coo', bro. We's playin' real opponents here, not scrub teams likes Mount Union. 'S coo', bro. ah' know yo' wo'kin' wid some glo'ified wet noodle uh an arm dere and ya''ve snatchn so's many sacks upside de years dat yo' noggen ain't wo'ken propuh' but dose ain't baaaad enough 'suses. Use dat oda' arm, use dose scrawny legs uh yo's, whuteva' it takes, plum duzn't turn de ball over. Ah be baaad... Fo' God's sake kid, I'm beggin' ya' here."
After that inspirational speech, Tommy settled down. With the help of the run game and one Mike Harvey, running back extraordinaire, the P'Bears managed to hold onto the ball in the second half. Harvey took the load and ran with it like no white boy has before. Things started off with a 32 yard [b]Rudy Blenker field goal that capped a 13 play, 4 minute drive that only moved 45 yards but a Northeastern fumble on the ensuing kickoff gave the P'Bears such a short field that it took only 5 plays and 15 seconds to punch it in for 6. The P'Bears weren't done with their run so to speak. A little defensive stand got the ball back for the Polar Bears offense. Tommy Wilson waited until the last possible second to pitch the ball on an option counter and Mike Harvey saw only green ahead as he snatched the ball from the air and galloped 61 yards for the TD. The touchdown gave the P'Bears the lead 38-31 early in the 4th quarter after trailing much of the contest.
The defense was playing it's heart out in the second half. Their heart was 20x bigger than their talent though. On 4th and 2 from the 33, Northeasterns B.J. Atkins once again hooked up with Marcus Lee for their 3rd TD of the game. They only beat double coverage for the 3rd time in the game but that's how the NCAA cookie crumbles.
BJL managed to keep his cool despite the obvious cheesiness of the touchdown play. Young speedster Matt Taylor got the Bears to midfield on a nice kick return but the offense had to settle for another Blenker[b/] field goal to give Ohio Northern the 3 point lead. The Huskies threatened to break the P'Bears spirit with an incredibly frustrating 83 yard touchdown play. B.J. Atkins slung a 5 yard out pass to Marcus Lee who easily shrugged off the sad excuse for a tackle by [b]Clay Huggins and then pranced the remaining 78 yards to the house unmolested. The threats BJL shouted at the opposing team, coaches, television, PS2, etc, etc would have gotten him committed had anyone been paying attention. AS it was they were all in shock from the quick turn of events.
Two minutes remained in the game and it looked like the hopes of P'Bear nation were resting on the noodle arm of Tommy Wilson. Not so fast my friends. A tiny spark of neurons in Tommy Wilson's head allowed him to recall coach BJL's halftime talk. Legs. They needed to rely on legs. So Wilson handed the ball off to Mike Harvey. He threw a couple passes to no avail but went back to the game plan. Legs. On 1st down after a 4th down conversion by Harvey, Wilson once again went to the workhorse. You'd think a guy who had already run for 241 yards would be tired but it just wasn't so. It was the Husky defense that proved to have worn out already as Harvey ran 59 yards for the go ahead score with 1:29 left in the game. The ONU sideline went nuts as Harvey ran by the Northeastern defense but BJL wasn't quite ready to celebrate. The defense needed to make one last stand.
It was looking like that wasn't going to happen. Husky running back Preston Miller had been quite most of the game but he was fresh because of it. He tore off a nice chunk of yardage and then Atkins proceeded to cut up the ONU secondary. With 24 ticks left in the game the Huskies were at the 14 yard line. Easy field goal range to tie it up but plenty of time to find the end zone. Then the miracle of all miracles blessed the ONU defense. A little bit of pressure on Atkins and he panicked for the first and most fatal time of the game. With LB Chris Vincent dragging him down he tried to pass the ball back to Miller in the backfield who was tied up with left end Keith Smith. It was a fumble and as Smith got the better of Miller he saw the ball bounce by on the ground. He dove on it and the P'Bears defense had come up with the last minute stop to preserve the win! Whew!

Geez, talk about some offense. That one looked like the box score from one of my games! And nice defensive play to preserve the win.
Good to see you back in the dynasty section; I was think there you might have moved on to bigger and better things. [smile]

What could possibly be bigger and better than the dynasty section?

The only bigger and better thing involves the dynasty section, just not in getting games in. I finally squeezed in a game between coding binges. :D

There isn't anything really. Just something to make it a little better. ;)

I really thought I was going to lose again. Then that bozo thows the ball backwards. I couldn't believe it.:o

Whew!
Now that's what I like. Unbelievable finish just when you know you're going down the pipes. And defense. I love defense. And Billy Joe Lee. You have been working hard on AViD this past week. Good stuff over there.

William & Mary at Ohio Northern
Week 8, 2005
Flat out bad!
http://www.alternateversion.com/football/ONU/2005/week8/pic1.jpg
Ada, OH - The boys in orange and black followed up a good win with an embarassing face plant. Not much to say about this performance. The defense forced 4 first half interceptions and still only managed one Rudy Blencker field goal.
A 7-3 halftime deficit quickly turned into an 11 point hole when the Tribes Will Holbert picked up a botched option pitch and scrambled into the endzone. The P-Bears did manage to get into Blenckers FG range before the avalanche of William & Mary points buried the home team.
The normally prolific Mike Harvey was stifled most of the afternoon only accounting for 63 yards on 24 carries. The lack of run game definitely hurt the offense which had to turn to the arm of Tommy Wilson. Wilson put up decent yardage and took pretty good care of the ball when chucking it down field but completed less than 50% of his passes. Nate Demps was reliable in catching 5 passes for 96 yards but pressure on Wilson left little time to throw accurate passes.
Besides the very good peformance by CB Will Holbert, the Tribes Kyle Southhall was unstoppable running past the secondary and racking up 162 yards on just 3 catches.

What happened??? I thought BJL and the P'Bears were on a roll. Well, come to think of it, I don't rightly remember how they were doing. [glare]
Perhaps the jealousy of seeing his baby bro at Bethune-Cookman taking college football by storm did a number on BJL. Or did he not even notice?
Okay, enough of the guilt trip. Welcome back, bud. It's good to see that AVid hasn't quite devoured you entire being...yet.

You use the code feature. When you go to make a post, you hit the # symbol and that is how you make it.

P'Bears Return with Win
Image not available. This one was ugly.
Tail of two halves ends in ONU victory
Somewhere in Maine - Billy Joe Lee's Polar Bears of Ohio Northern University came up fired up and ready to tear apart an inferior opponent today. After a short layoff the P'Bears easily took a comfortable 2 touchdown lead thanks to a sound running game and two Mike Harvey trips to the endzone. Things got worse for the Black Bears when sophomore wideout Matt Taylor caught fire in the return game. A 64 yard punt return was followed up by a 56 yard return and a 61 yard scamper. Sandwiched in there the defense tacked on 6 more when 3 linebackers converged on Maine tailback Clint Temple and he coughed the ball up. FS Pat Alexander scooped the ball up and ran untouched for 61 yards. At the half the P'Bears led 49-0 and it didn't look like a contest.
BJL decided to sub in the second teams and take the rest of the afternoon off. Leaving the team with no coaches, (This was ONU after all. A former DIII squad with little funding. BJL was the coaching staff.) Billy Joe Lee jumped in the team bus and headed off into the Maine wilderness.....
Meanwhile the squad floundered and Clint Temple warmed up. As the huge halftime lead slowly dwindled the team leaders finally decided to take matters into their own hands. The 1st teams went back in to stop the bleeding. They managed to stop the Black Bears on back to back series and a 3 minute drive ended the game in a 48 yard Rudy Blenker FG to seal the deal at 59-49. BJL was still missing and so was starting QB and team captain Tommy Wilson. What was going on here????
