Right after Nebraska's game ended, I rushed down to the Qwest Center to watch the 3rd period of UNO vs. New Hampshire. I got to see my school beat the #8 team in the country and win the "Maverick Stampede" tourney!! We are coming off a 4th-place finish in the CCHA last year and I think we're *better* this year! This is going to be a helluva fun season!!

correct.

Does UNO have a home game the weekend of the Nebraska-Okalahoma football game. I'm flying out for the football game and my dad's office has a box at the Qwest Center so I'd like to go to a game if there is one.

I don't follow college hockey at all, but they were unbeaten and had been averaging ~6 goals per game.

I went to the #2 Michigan @ Notre Dame game a week ago. Supposedly Michigan is reeeeally good and ND hadn't won in like 20 games and struggled to score goals.

Well, Michigan was leading 5-2 in the 3rd when we exploded and made it a 6-5 game with a couple minutes left before Michigan added two goals to win 8-5. It was very fun and exciting. We don't exactly have college hockey here in CA so it was fun to see.

My team (Augsburg) is 3-0 and playing tonight at Wisconsin-River Falls. They won last night and beat #2 ranked St. Norbert awhile back.

The women's team lost a heartbreaker in their first game last weekend, losing to Wisconsin-River Falls 2-1 on a goal with 17 seconds left. They are also playing tonight, in Illinois...

No, I was just browsing the roster and it included a lot of kids that played for teams that my team destroyed.

Just bumping this to let everyone know that UNO owns Michigan State...we beat them for the 3rd time this year tonight in front of a huge crowd of 7,300 at Qwest Center Omaha! MSU won last night purely on luck. THey were outshot 45-31 and their 3rd goal was a complete fluke otherwise it wouldn't have gone to overtime and we wouldn't have lost.

How closely do you follow UNO hockey? A kid who I went to high school with plays on the team, and I was just curious how he was doing. Joe Grimaldi. I went to one of the games at MSU, it looked like he was seeing a lot of ice time.

I follow the team very closely. Unfortunately, Grimaldi left the team last week and is now playing for some juniors league in Canada. He had an outstanding freshman sesaon but was a little disappointing this year.

Last week, huh? That's no good. It did look like he was getting chewed out by the coach at the game I went to. Whatever though. On a side not, UNO fans travel well, there close to as many fans in red as those in green in East Lansing.

Yea, we have a pretty big "cult" following with most of the people posting on a website called mavpuck.com. I know they took about 150 people up to East Lansing when we played them (and swept them!) in November and (you'll like this part) annoyed the crap out of MSU fans from what I've heard. :D

Learned that they don't have an alternate officials at games. The head ref took a head shot and didn't return for the 3rd period.

So, the two linesmen called the rest of game???? Or does the league do the games with two refs and two linesmen?

2 linesmen called the 3rd period, rather badly. There was a scuffle at the end, a punch was thrown, no ejections.

UNO completes a weekend sweep of Northern Michigan, pulling them into 4th place in the CCHA, and inching them closer toward a possible NCAA berth!

Next weekend is the largest regular season series in the history of our program...we play Michigan on Friday and Saturday!!

They could have probably sold 10,000 tickets for this one but unfortunately they had to move this game to the old Civic Auditorium...so it will be limited to a sellout of about 8,100.

Well, it's the eve of this huge series. The latest reports say that less than 500 tickets remain for Friday night's game and less than 200 for Saturday.

Most places project that if we get 3 points from Michigan, we're pretty much guaranteed an at-large berth in the NCAA tourney...and likely get a #1 seed.

FINAL SCORE:

UNO 4
Michigan 3 !!!!

Damn this was an exciting game. We went up 3-0 with 13:40 left in the game. Then Michigan went on a tear and scored a goal with 11:27 left, 3:48 left, and 2:45. However, on the ensuing face-off after the tying goal, we won the draw and got it ahead to Alex Nikiforuk on a fast-break and he slipped it between the goalies legs...not 6 seconds after we had blown a 3-point lead! We held on for dear life for the last 2:39 and came out with the win!!!! I've never heard a louder game in UNO history.

Awesome. College hockey is really exciting. Went to a ND-Michigan game earlier this year, and Michigan certainly has an amazing offense, beating us 8-5. But it was a wonderful atmosphere.

Congrats on the win.

UNO 4
Michigan 4

We scored the tying goal with under 3 minutes left in regulation and just held on for the one point for the rest of regulation and the 5 minutes of overtime. Overall, 3 out of four points is *very* satisfying against Michigan at this point in the year. Our unbeaten streak now stands at 9 consecutive games, and 10 out of our last 11!

Last week UNO dropped 3 of 4 points to last place Western Michigan which dropped us into a tie for 4th place in the CCHA. Since Northern Michigan got the tiebreaker (conference wins), it meant we missed out on a first round bye and have to play at home this weekend..

We beat last-place Bowling Green tonight, 4-2...very ugly game. Hopefully we can sweep.

We're still picked to be the 7-10th seed in the NCAA tournament at last check

Michigan has had a slightly disappointing year, but a nice CCHA run could set the Wolverines up for good things in the tourney.

Did Wisconsin end up winning in the third OT?? Man, nothing better than multiple OT hockey playoff games. I still remember those games when the Ducks made the Stanley Cup a few years ago, that was just unreal. Man, 5 OT win vs the Stars that year. Those games were so awesome.

Well, it's Wisconsin vs. Boston College for the NC.

BTW, here's a pic of UNO's game-winning goal against Michigan. This was back in Februrary.... Right after Michigan had come back from 3-0 to tie the game, Alex Nikiforuk won the opening faceoff and somehow skated the length of the ice to put it in net not 6 seconds later....This is a very cool pic:

Wow, what a game that was. We should have won it by a lot more, but Schneider was a beast in net. Very entertaining 2-1 win, and the post was once again a goalie's best friend (with 1.2 seconds left, no less). I'm still too pumped to write anything coherent, except that Minnesota may have the best high-school hockey, but Wisconsin has the best college hockey.
