Toledo Drunk Bastard Hockey
The Bastard Hockey team has been created on NHL 2k6. After the lockout the Columbus Blue Jackets were unable to survive in the NHL. An investor that is still unknown at this time was able to purchase and relocate the team at a dirt cheap cost. The team has relocated to the glass city of Toledo and will be called the drunk bastard's. The new salary stucture and retirement has caused the NHL to call for a full draft of all players. Games are played on 7 minute accelerated clock. In order to add more importance to the games, the league has moved to a 40 game schedule. Overtime will be played 4 on 4 until someone scores. No ties in the new NHL, this should leave fans with more excitement. At this point in the season 21 games have been completed, and this is where the action will pickup.

Coach Tim Evearitt was appointed by the unknown investors that purchased the team. He had no hockey background but is somehow linked to the investment company. He is just a serious sports fan that wanted a chance to help run an organization. Evearitt is a toledo local and has a Bachelors of Business Degree from the University of Toledo. The media has been very critical of this transaction calling it a farce to the sports world. The overall coaching staff is very inexperienced, but the team did go out and get the best conditioning, scouting and minor league personel.

OCTOBER 2005 RECAP

The team stumbled out of the gate 0-2. One fan stated, "I never seen so much dirty play from one team in my life! No wonder their logo looks like a drunk irishman with his fist up ready to duke it out." The bastard we not playing hockey, they were trying to intimidate people for the rest of the season. The media was intense about what the NHL is doing in Toledo. Toledo shut the media and the hockey world up after dropping the first two by winning the next 4 games in October. Coach Evearitt said, "These guys really came together after the first couple games. The play was still pretty dirty and that is how I like it. We got better at moving the puck around and getting more quality shots on goal. Our goal tending has been excellent."

November 2005 Recap

Another impressive 4-2 month. The first two games were won, making a 6 game winning streak. The schedule got tougher at this point and Toledo was thumped 6-2 by a weak St. Louis team. Evearitt said, "After this beating I wasn't going to wait to see how this group is going to respond. I had to make quick changes. We brought in Hecht and Walker for some quality up and coming players and a draft pick." The team also shifted some minor league personel. The team did respond well winning the next 2 games, but fatigue costs the team the last game of the month as they played on 3 stright days.

December 2005 Recap

Toledo's worst month yet, the team went 4-4. The Bastard's won 3 in a row, but then dropped 3. The team made some serious line changes that included more usage of the checking line with Tie Domi and Chris Tamer seeing action. This resulted in winning the last game of the 2005 year. Injuries to Pavel Datsyuk and Pavel Bure did not help the team during December. The team is 12-8 ending the 2005 calendar year.

Jan. 2, 2006 Anh 1 @ Tol 2

Toledo has to play from behind in this game as the let up the opening goal for the 4th stright game. Nagy scored the first and only goal for the ducks.

Media: Is the team getting used to playing from behind?

Evearitt: Honestly I am getting fucking sick of it! next question.

Media: How serious is the injury to Hetch?

Evearitt: Must be pretty damn fucking serious, I don't really know yet why don't you ask the team doctor this kind of shit?

Well it is obvious Coach Evearitt is not happy, doesn't really make much sense since the team did squeek out a win today. P. Datsyuk is the #1 Star with a goal. Giguere is # 2 with 33 saves in the game.

Jan 7, 2006 Toledo @ San Jose

A rematch from Halloween when Toledo won at home 4-3. San Jose comes in 11-9-1-0 while Toledo is 13-5-3-0. Kovalchuk scored the game winner in that game for the Bastards, but he is no longer with the team. San Jose must focus on stopping John Madden in this game, he had 2 goals in the last meeting. Toledo outshot SJ in the last game 50-19. That is a heavy advantage for the Bastards. Coach Evearitt looks pumped as the two teams are about to meet for the second time this season. Toledo will need to stop the scoring line of San Jose with Straka, Brind'Amour, and Amonte. These 3 seems to have great chemisty. Brian Leech lead SJ with 13 goals, while John Madden has 10 for the Bastards.

1st period

Tyson Nash Defensemen from the Bastard Checking line gets a rare goal to put Toledo up 1-0. His second of the season. SJ has 14 shots on goal after the 1st period. Most of them came one two different possessions early in the game because of rebounded shots. SJ was able to kill a pelenty on Amonte late in the period.

2nd period

Score remains 1-0 after the second period. SJ is held to 6 Shots on goal in the period. They have the edge in shots 24-17. Straka left the game with a minor elbow injury. The Bastards were successful in killing a pelenty on Kim Johnsson.

3rd period

The Bastards played puck control in the third period. San Jose fought hard. The Sharks were able to kill a pelenty in middle of the period. Toledo looked to be in trouble as they went on the PK with 4 minutes remaining in the game but were successful in killing the pelenty. Madden was called for rough after throwing an elbow to the back of the head. Toledo held on for the 1-0 win. The 3rd shootout of the season.

Media: What did you think of the play tonight Mr. Evearitt?

Evearitt: This was a snoozer of a game. I didn't like being outshoot 32-20 luckily we got a shootout. We didnt really let up to many good shoots for our opponets. I guess playing with the lead for once will allow us to be a bit more fucking selective with the shoots on goal eh? Eric Brewer had a hell of a game with 10 hits and I am very impressed with this Tyson Nash kid. He is a real up and comer. Nash is a very hard nosed kid who has stepped up for us from the minors this season. I think he will be securing a permanet spot on our checking line.

Final
Toledo 1
San Jose 0

Jan 12, 2006 News
G Giguere named goalie of the week 1/2/06

Evearitt: Several teams attempted to make offers on Pavel Datsyuk last week, trust me he will be playing in Toledo for a long ass time.

Jan 16, 2006 Edmonton 5-18-0-0 @ Toledo 14-5-3-0

Toledo comes into the game 4 pts ahead of Dallas in the west. Edmonton is in the cellur.

Evearitt: "Blood will flow in the glass city tonight"

The Coach seems confindent his team will walk away a winner tonight. Good reason the Oilers look terrible this season. They do have a good young scorer in LaCavaler. He comes into the game with 10 goals on the season. Edmonton will have their hands full with Toledo's 5 enforcers. Edmonton does have 1 in Chris Simon. Edmonton does have a tough goalie in Khabibulin. Should be another snoorer in the NHL 2 nite on the Outdoor Life Network

1st Period

Edmonton plays the first half of the session tough. Almost scored twice, and a nice shot off the goal post. Peter Turgeon makes a great goal at the 15:51 mark. Takes a wristshot that flys off the goaltenders glove and in the goal. Toledo sends out the enforcers after this and pound on the Oilers. It looks like intimidation is setting in the opponets.

2nd Period

Edmonton kills to pelenties early and then score on a wrap around after the PK. Toledo outshot the Oilers 21 to 9 in the session but can not come up with a goal. Game tied at 1-1

3rd Period

Early 3rd period mass confusion in front of the Toledo goal and somehow the puck ends up in the Toledo goal. Toledo responded by going on an all out assult. Some many chances but nothing was going in for the Bastard's. Toledo ended up on the PK with about 4 minutes left. The Oilers got another goal to go in late to take a 3-1 win.

Recap

Edmonton wins 3-1

Khabibulin G Edm is player of the game with a whopping 60 saves.

Injury Report

Media: How is the injury to Ragnarsson?

Coach Evearitt: Not nearly bad as originally thought. His leg is injured, only need a day to two out of practice to recover. He should be ready for Carolina game.

Feb. Recap "Clip from Rome is Burning"

Jim Rome: What is going on with the Bastard's. Didn't you get the feeling that the Toledo Project was a mistake from the beginning. The fast start by this team was smoke and mirrors. How could the fans not see this coming. The team has a coach with zero experience. The mystery investment group is laughing to the bank while stuffing all that jack into their pockets. They are in first place currently but this team is crumbling and dont be suprised when they do not make the playoffs with the jack stuffing owners and no brain head coach. What do you think of this team Wayne, by the way always a pleasure having you on the show.

Wayne Gretzky: It's hard to say Jim. They have defianelty stumbled last month going 2-4, but there are a lot of games left to play and we'll have to see what happens.

Jim: Always great talking to a legend. Stay tuned

Coach Evearitt's Press Conference

Press: Did you get to see Jim Rome's comments on TV about you team having a collapse?

Coach E: Who the fuck is Jim Rome? Next Question
