Anyone here know the LA area well?

I'm headed off with a few friends to LA with no real goal in mind. What are some must see things? We're all 20 so no 21+ activities . Are there any decent 18+ clubs in the general vicinity of LA (longbeach\newport etc) to get a taste of a real city's night life. And maybe some suggestions for day trip? Any help would be very appreciated.

Drive through Compton with the biggest redneck truck you can find with country music blaring from your speakers and a big rebel flag hanging out the window. Its a great group activity.

OK i am not serious, but i have no clue what there is to do in LA except go to the beach and look at all the hot girls.

"The Grove" is a pretty nice place to go. From the 10 Fwy, exit Fairfax and go North. Outdoor shopping, movie theater, restaurants, etc., etc.

USC is where the 10 and 110 meet, if you have any interest at all in seeing the campus.

Old Town Pasadena is pretty cool.

A ton of clubs and sh!t to do in Hollywood and Santa Monica---take the 10 west basically until it ends.

If you want to come down to Orange County, there's stuff to do here as well. But, Newport Beach, for example, is a good 40-45 miles south of downtown LA.

Thanks for the suggestions TrojanMan. We're staying near Hollywood thursday\friday and heading down to Orange County Saturday-Monday or so.
