Bugs & Settings Problems - report here

I'm totally new to vBulletin so if there is something that you see isn't working the way it is suppose to or doesn't work like it did on the old board, let me know in here so I can get to work on fixing it.

I'm not positive. I know you can now link to one, b4au just did. As for uploaded, if you can't right now then I don't know.

I can't get my avatar to link, it says it's too large. It's the same avatar as before, and shouldn't the forum just shrink it? Am I an idiot here.

I'm not sure if the forum software is smart enough to resize it itself or now. If need be I can resize it for you if it wont let you. I'll just in the control panel quick and see what the options are regarding that

TrickyD
10-15-2003, 05:55 PM
Yep 20,000bytes is the default upload limit on avatars and 80x80 is the default size limit so they will have to be shrunk to be able to show up.

And I was reading the faq and they were talking about edited words (i.e. ****) is there a way you and the mod can set that up fo ra ll the swear words?

Is there a way to turn off thread subscription?

I like the feature, (for those who dont know what it is it is basically a thread watch, subsribe to the thread, go to your conrol panel and the thread will be there for quick access) but i dont want to have to choose to not subscribe each thread i post in. I know i will have a millino threads in my cp lol.

just a question, opinion i guess

SoJon

ya you can, in your options you can turn thread subscription off, i believe

my question, can we change the font color default on our posts, like before? or do we have to change it everytime

Yep I have it set up for 5 minutes so that someone can't go back and delete something they said hours ago if they decide they don't like what they said.

Quick question.........

Is there any way at all to space out your posts (i.e. make columns)??

I've played with this for 10 minutes now and I haven't figured out any way to put more than 1 space in between characters.

Well, I know it's nit picking, but I really liked the lightbulb above the handle in the old forum that showed who was active at the time...I like it more than the indicator in this new forum.

What do you think, can we switch it? Does anyone else care/agree.

SwampMonkey

I never paid attention to lightbulbs on the old board but the indicator here is right there under your post. Light for online and dark for offline.

Graphics could be changed i'm sure. It's just a question of whether or not one of our resident graphics designers(if we have any) wants to do it.

yeah same goes for the forum colors. I originally set it up to have teh same color scheme as the old board, but the purple buttons remained so it made it look rather silly.

As for changing that to lightbulbs, I'm sure it is possible, but how far I'd have to dig, I'm not sure. I'll look tomorrow though.

The no subscribe thing only seems to work for me when i do quick replies. Have tried it any other way yet though.

No idea on post color yet.

I think the only diff. is that the quoted text in IB was placed in a white table box.

cmq, just look down at the bottom of the forum and you'll see the admincp control panel. That has access to all the files I'm pretty sure.

So all you guys are looking for is changing the background color of quotes right?

Yeah it seems pretty trivial to me, but we can look at it. I think the indentation and horizontal bars seperate them pretty well.

I'm going to head over to the vBulletin forum and ask about both the spacing, subscription, and quote issues right now.

Swamp, it is pretty amusing going through the admiCP menus. Every time I come across something that says "enable HTML" it always says "STRONGLY not recommended" haha

Is it just me or is it almost impossible to get to the other ncaa sections like recruiting and strategies and stuff. those boards are up in the utopia forums>ncaa_whatever. you have to go to Utopia forums>ncaa general then click up at the top to ncaa forums. if im wrong sorry about that. try using the forum jump thing in the bottom right instead. That might work better for you.

What a post whore :glare: I was just messing with you man lol

Anyway, I believe I have fixed the smilies, the only problem is that it screwed up all the smilies posted up until now.

Let me know if they provide any problems from here on out.

Also, still working on the thread subscriptions problem, but post counts have now been removed.

Yep I have it set up for 5 minutes so that someone can't go back and delete something they said hours ago if they decide they don't like what they said.

I think it'll just reduce confusion Yep I have it set up for 5 minutes so that someone can't go back and delete something they said hours ago if they decide they don't like what they said.

little quirks ive noticed.

ill come to the forum and threads i havent ever read or looked at will be shown as old.

also threads i have looked at will be marked as read, then i leave and come back and they are marked as unread, even with no changes to them.

maybee it is a setting for me. i dont know

maybee it is a setting for me. i dont know I'm pretty sure that it doesn't track old/new threads by when you viewed them, but by the last time you visited the board. That's why I try to only visit the board when I intend to read the messages and respond, otherwise it flags all posts up until the point I visit as "read".

also ive noticed, this board doesnt refresh well
like ill post something, go to the main forum and it doesnt show
then i hit refresh and then it shows most of the time...
it should refresh as soon as i hit forum jump... but it doenst

*like just after i posted this, i went to the top of the screen and hit off topic forum... and it didnt show up as me having posted something new I never have problems, must be some cache settings on your browser.

That's why I try to only visit the board when I intend to read the messages and respond, otherwise it flags all posts up until the point I visit as "read". But still, i posted in this thread, and viewed SoJon's reply later, after i viewed his reply i hit the "utopia forums" link at the bottom, to see the main forum page. I then click on off topic forum and it showed this thread as read.

i close my browser because i am done. later i come back, SoJon is the last post, which ive read, which it marked as read. and now it says i havent read it.

also, the only threads/forums it marks as read when i dont are the madden ones.
